Delmar R. Sommer Claims Janet Gartman As Bride

The marriage of Miss Janet Gartman and Delmar R. Sommer was solemnized Saturday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Town of Wilson. Candelabra and altar vases of yellow and white chrysanthemums were combined in the setting for the 2:30 o'clock ceremony performed by the Rev. W.C. Stoehr. Bows of white ribbon marked the pews to complete the decor. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alton H. Gartman of R. 3, Sheboygan, the bride was given in marriage by her father to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Sommer, R. 1, Cleveland.

Music for the service included the solos of Ronald Ertel, who presented "The Lord's Prayer" and "Lord, Who at Caan's Wedding Feast." Mrs. Lilah Gartman was organist.

The bride chose a gown of Valenciennes lace and silk designed with sculptered square neckline, three-quarter length sleeves and full shirred silk skirt ending in a full chapel train. The back was accented with a shirred bustle caught with self-fabric roses. A miniature crown of pearls and crystal held the silk illusion veil and the principal carried a crescent of miniature pale yellow roses, white chrysanthemums and ivy.

The four attendants wore aqua silk organza. They were Mrs. Margene Meyer, sister of the bridegroom, as matron of honor and Miss Delores Thimmig, cousin of the bride, Mrs. Suzanne Vandoske and Mrs. Delores Ochs, bridesmaids. Their frocks were fashioned with short sleeves and a full skirt made with a cascade of wide ruffles at the back. A wide, pleated cummerbund was centered at the back with a rose. They also donned small braid crowns in aqua and held reed baskets of bronze chrysanthemums with autumn foliage and ribbon. The honor matron's basket had fruit as an added detail.

Linda Thimmig was a miniature bride in the procession, appearing in an ensemble similar to the principal's Brian Wunsch, in the role of ringbearer, carried a satin cane trimmed with flowers. They are cousins of the principals.

Merlin Meyer served his brother-in-law as best man with assistance from Clarence Van DeLoo, Ronald Vandoske and William Ochs Jr., as groomsmen. Kenneth Thimmig and Lloyd Wunsch, cousins of the couple, were ushers. A buffet supper and reception followed at the Sheboygan Falls Municipal Building where 500 relatives and friends greeted the bridal pair.

The newlyweds are currently on a honeymoon trip in western states and after Oct. 1, will be at home at Howards Grove.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Sommer are graduates of Central High School. The bride also graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Milwaukee and she is an employe of Garton Toy Co.

Guests attended from the states of Massachusetts, New York, Arizona, Texas and Illinois and represented Manitowoc, Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties.
