Miss Carol Henning Is Wed To Frederick Drews

St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church was the setting Saturday afternoon for the candlelight marriage ceremony of Miss Carol Henning and Frederick H. Drews. Bouquets of garden flowers were decorations for the double-ring service, read by the Rev. Marvin Lehmann at 4 o'clock.

After the vows had been repeated, the principals partook of Holy Communion. Organist for the service was Mrs. Herbert Grauman, who accompanied the soloist, Miss Nancy Burhop. Her numbers were "Through the Years" and "The Lord's Prayer."

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. John Henning, 2215 S. 16th St. Her father escorted his daughter to the altar and presented her in marriage to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Drews, 2216 S. 9th St.

The bridal gown was fashioned with a combination of white nylon tulle and Chantilly lace. The full, bouffant skirt was chapel length and emphasized a nipped-in waistline. Nylon plisse adorned the boat neckline and the long pointed sleeves accented the flower motif of the Chantilly lace. Pearls and beads trimmed the bride's lace headpiece, to which her fingertip veil of pure silk illusion was attached. She held a bouquet of Stephanotis with green epidendrum orchids.

As maid of honor for her sister, Miss Arline Henning donned a ballerina-length gown with a tucked bodice and waistline and a full gored skirt. A white beaded band with a face veil was her headpiece and she wore short white gloves.

Nile green was the color of the gowns, styled identically, which were attire of the bridesmaids, Mrs. Wesley Meylink, sister of the bride, Mrs. Earl Opgenorth, the bridegroom's sister, Miss Audrey Walvoord and Mrs. Harold Hurtienne, the bride's aunt. Each attendant held a colonial bouquet of coral geraniums with a ribbon to match her dress.

For her role as flower girl, Vicki Lynn Henning, sister of the bride, was dressed in a maize dotted Swiss frock with puffed sleeves, a Peter Pan collar and full-length skirt. Her bonnet was made of the same material and she carried a basket of coral geraniums with yellow streamers. Rings were brought to the altar on a pillow by Mark Opgenorth, nephew of the bridegroom. Attendants for the bridegroom, besides his brother-in-law, Earl Opgenorth, the best man, were three uncles of the bride, Harold, Roland and Eugene Hurtienne, and Carlos Mueller, cousin of the bridegroom, who assumed duties of groomsmen. Guests were shown to seats by Mr. Mueller and Roland Hurtienne. Riverdale Country Club was scene of the wedding dinner for 34 guests. During the evening hours, a reception for 350 relatives and friends was held at Standard Hall. Among the group was Roland Essig, Indiana, and other persons from Milwaukee.

Destination of the wedding trip was not revealed, but after July 26, Mr. Drews and his wife will be at home at 2424 S. 17th St. Both persons are 1951 graduates of Central High School. The former Miss Henning is employed at the Sheboygan Clinic. Her husband served two years with the U.S. Navy, including 21 months at Malta, and presently works for Eugene Wasserman, architect.
