Phyllis Gartman Becomes Bride Of James W. Summer

Trinity Lutheran Church in Town Wilson was the setting Saturday afternoon for the 2:30 o'clock nuptial rite in which James W. Summers claimed Miss Phyllis Gartman as his bride.

Officiant, the Rev. Arthur Dingel, performed the service before an altar adorned with all-white bouquets of gladioli and pompons with huckleberry. The wedding united in marriage the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Gartman, R. 3, Sheboygan, and the son of Mrs. Ida Anderson, Port Washington, and William Summers, Pewaukee, Wis.

Music for the occasion was provided by organist, Mrs. Lilah Gartman, and vocalists, Mrs. Elwood Meyer and Mrs. Norman Koeppe, all of R. 1, Oostburg. "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach was the processional number and the recessional selection was Purcell's "Trumpet Voluntary in D Major." "The Lord's Prayer" and "O Perfect Love" were vocal offerings.

The bride's organza chapel gown featured a fitted bodice with long sleeves and a scoop neckline. Other details included a detachable train and a belled skirt with a floral motif of Schiffli embroidery. The skirt was topped by a lace-accented waistband. Bouffant silk illusion veiling fell from an organza forward disc adorned with seed pearl medallions. As she approached the altar with her father, the former Miss Gartman carried a feathery crescent-shaped bouquet of white roses and carnations enhanced with lacy fern and variegated pothos foliage.

Her attendants were Miss Jane Wirtz, St. Cloud, maid of honor, and cousins, Miss Lou Ann Schaefer and Miss Susan Grunwald, and Miss Veronica Wallner, Sheboygan Falls, who were bridesmaids. The flower girl was a sister, Ruth Gartman.

Attire for the bride aids was identical. They wore long coat dresses made with Nile green peau skirts and white organza bodices with Nile green Schiffli embroidery. Head pieces were clusters of tulle petals trimmed with hairbraid bows to which bouffant silk illusion veils were secured. Each carried an informal hand bouquet of Hawaiian roses and champagne carnations with variegated pittisporum foliage.

Best man at the ceremony was Richard Novack and groomsmen were George Richards and Mark Gartman, brothers of the bridal pair and Timothy Moxness, Sheboygan Falls. Duties of ushering were performed by Delmar Sommers and the bridegroom's brother, Michael Richards. Rings were carried on a heart-shaped satin pillow by Gary Thimmig.

Five hundred wedding guests attended a buffet supper and reception at Belgium Community Center.

A graduate of South High School, the bride is employed by Borden Foods Company, Plymouth. Mr. Sommers attended Central High School and works for Honold and LaPage.

After May 1, the newlyweds will reside on R. 1, Oostburg.
