Gartman-Beniger Vows Said At St. Peter Claver Church

Altar arrangement of white gladioli were used to decorate the sanctuary of St. Peter Claver Church, today at noon, for the wedding of Miss Mary Jo Gartman and William J. Beniger. The Rev. Edward Vogel officiated at the nuptial rite.

St. Peter Claver Girls Choir provided music for the wedding with Mrs. Loraine Fale at the organ. Selections included "Ave Maria" and "On This Day" as the bride placed a bouquet of white carnations, with blue ribbon tie, at the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Parents of the principals are Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy H. Gartman, 2916 Wedemeyer St., and Mr. and Mrs. John W. Beniger, 2624 N. 8th St. Mr. Gartman presented his daughter in the ceremony.

Mrs. Dennis Gerhartz was matron of honor and Miss Linda Beniger, the bridegroom's cousin, a bridesmaid. They were gowned in floor-length dresses of powder blue Karati, styled with three-quarter length sleeves and white lace cuffs. Shirred back panels were topped with self-fabric bows and bow cascade bands of similar fabric completed their attire. They held colonial bouquets of Marguerite daisies accented with camellia and variegated pitisporum.

For her wedding, the former Miss Gartman chose a redindigote-styled gown of blue Chantilly lace over a sleeveless sheath of silk peau. Long sleeves and a high scooped neckline bordered with scalloped Chantilly ruffles were other features of her dress. The fitted back had an attached chapel train, bordered with scalloped Chantilly lace ruffles. Her chapel veil of blue silk illusion was attached to a queen's crown of pearls, and she carried a cascade of lilies of the valley and white Marguerite daisies, accented with camellia and ivy foliage.

Best man in the ceremony was Thomas C. Meyer, while John Prigge of Oostburg served as groomsman. Guests were ushered to their places in church by Dennis Gerhartz and Dennis Knuth.

Sheboygan Yacht Club will be the scene of the buffet dinner and reception for 225 guests.

After a week at a summer home on an east-central Wisconsin lake, the newlyweds will be at home at 1541 S. 8th St.

South High School is the bride's alma mater, after which she attended Stout State University-Menomonie. Her husband was graduated from North High School and attended Lakeshore Technical Institute-Sheboygan. He is a heavy equipment operator employed by Beniger Excavating Co., Inc., which he serves as vice president also.
