Roerdink-Gartmann Rite Of Marriage Is Performed

Carnations - white, pink and red - in two bouquets flanked the altar of Trinity Lutheran Church on Hwy. 141 South, Saturday, when Miss Jean Carol Roerdink and William R. Gartmann repeated their vows. The 3 o'clock ceremony was read by the Rev. Hubert Rausch.

While guests were being seated in pews adorned with ivory ribbon and ferns, the organist, Mrs. Gordon Veldboom Sr., Oostburg, an aunt of the bride, played "Meditation on Crimond," "Adoration," by Rockwell, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach and Air from "Water Music" by Handel. Bridesmaids and men entered to "Trumpet Tunes by Purcell" as the processional and "March Romain" by Gounod was played when the bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milfert G. Roerdink, 115 N. 12th St., Oostburg, appeared with her father. The recessionals were "March Romain" by Gounod and "Psalm XVIII" by Marcello. Vocal numbers by Mrs. Mark Eggebeen of Oostburg were "O Perfect Love" and "Wedding Prayer" by Dunlap.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Gartmann, R. 3, Hwy. 141, Sheboygan.

Bridal attire was a gown of ivory delustered satin, styled with a fitted bodice, long, tapered sleeves and Sabrina neckline that was appliqued with Alencon lace and embroidered with sequins and pearls. The full skirt of unpressed pleats was accented with sprays of appliqued lace motifs. A feature of the gown was a detachable overskirt which extended into a chapel train. The mantilla of Alencon lace was draped over a matching pillbox that was trimmed with sequins and seed pearls. Red roses, white stephanotis, sprigs of ivy and ivory ribbon comprised the bridal bouquet.

A cousin, Mrs. Gordon veldboom Jr., came from Oshkosh to participate as matron of honor. She appeared in a floor-length gown of deep turquoise delustered satin, fashioned with elbow-length sleeves and scoop neckline. A cummerbund of Chantilly lace marked the waistline of the bell skirt. The pillbox hat of satin and lace, in a matching shade, was completed with a circular maline veil. Bright pink roses and lemon leaves, in a cascade, were carried.

Gown of the bridesmaid, Mrs. Rodney Gartman, the bridegroom's sister-in-law was identical in styling but was in a lighter shade of blue. Headpiece and flowers also were the same.

Four others taking part were the best man, Alan Gartman, R. 3, Hwy. 141, and Rodney Gartman, both brothers of the bridegroom. The last-listed one had the role of groomsman. The ushers were Richard Gartman and Roger Niemuth, the latter, a cousin of the bride.

Buffet supper and reception were festivities of the wedding and took place at Johnny's Supper Club, where 200 guests greeted the couple. The bride's cake was baked by an uncle of the bride, John Luteyn of Waupun.

After a secret wedding trip, the couple will be at home, Oct. 11, at 1404 S. 23rd St. Former Miss Roerdink, a cashier at Wisconsin Power and Light Co., was graduated from Oostburg High School in 1961. The same year the bridegroom received his diploma from South High School. He is employed in plastic engineering.
