Miss Vel Rae Roerdink Is Wed To Glenn C. Gartman

An open Bible, palms and gladioli were used to provide a setting for the nuptials of Miss Vel Rae Roerdink and Glenn C. Gartman, held at 7 o'clock Friday evening in First Presbyterian Church, Oostburg.

The Rev. James Edwards read the service uniting the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Roerdink, 1023 Wisconsin Ave., Oostburg, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Gartman, R. 1, Oostburg.

Pianist for the occasion, Mrs. James Edwards, played "Because" and "O Perfect Love" and the customary wedding marches.

A princess-style gown of satin-faced organza was worn by the bride. The bodice and elbow-length sleeves of rosepoint lace and a ballerina skirt, styled with pleated back detail, patterned the wedding day attire. Her queen's crown of scalloped braid, outlined with seed pearls, was attached to the shoulder-length circular illusion veil. A white Bible on which an orchid and lily-of-the-valley flowers were adornment was carried by Miss Roerdink. She wore white gloves. Her father presented her in marriage.

Sister of the bride, Miss Shirley Roerdink, the maid of honor, appeared in an orchid silk organza dress, styled with scoop neckline, three-quarter length sleeves, fitted bodice and full, unpressed skirt. A large organza flower with petals of organza and a circular veil that matched the dress complemented her attire. Her flowers were lavender and white Fuji chrysanthemums in crescent style. White gloves also were worn by her. Brother of the bridegroom, Calvin J. Gartman, best man, was the other attendant.

Immediate families were present for the wedding supper, served at Johnny's Restaurant on Highway 141.

Address of the couple, beginning Tuesday, is 859 Michigan Ave., Oostburg. Both newlyweds were graduated from Oostburg High School. The bride does clerical work at Office Supply and Printing Co.; her husband works for Chas. A. Honold Co.
