Miss Barbara Grunewald exchanged marriage vows with Roger H. Gartman in a 3:30 o'clock ceremony Saturday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Hans Tornow was officiant of the service in which the daughter of Mrs. Anita Grunewald, 1610 Division Ave., and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Gartman, 2020 S. 13th St., were principals.

Given in marriage by her grandfather, Herman Meyer, the bride was attired in a gown with a Chantilly lace bodice, scalloped at the bustline, a mandarin collar with sequins at the neckline and scalloped lace panels in front and back of the skirt over pleated nylon tulle and bridal satin. The long sleeves of lace were pointed over the hands. The bride's headpiece was a band of pearl and sequins, to which the fingertip veil of imported French illusion was attached. She held a white orchid bouquet garlanded with white carnations and stephanotis.

Yellow was color of the gown worn by the matron of honor, Mrs. Ruth Steinhaus. A lace bolero jacket with a mandarin collar and push-up sleeves was worn over the strapless lace bodice and the net skirt was detailed with ruffles around the skirt and a plain panel of net in front over net and taffeta skirts. She held a basket of orchid carnations and ivy.

Gowns styled similarly to the one worn by the honor attendant but an orchid shade were worn by the bridesmaids, Miss Shelby Jean Meyer, cousin of the bride, Miss Rogene Verhelst, the bridegroom's cousin, and Miss Rogene Mahnke. Each has a band of net and tiny flowers as her headpiece. Yellow carnations and ivy were in their baskets.

In the role of best man was Earl Manthey. The groomsmen were Samuel Rogers, cousin of the bridegroom, Peter Nelson and Jack Steinhaus. Guests were shown to seats by Roland Schoenenberger, cousin of the bride, and Richard Gartman, the bridegroom's brother.

Decorations for the church included arrangements of white gladioli and greens. Musical numbers for the ceremony were "The Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer," sung by Mrs. Florence Grunewald, aunt of the bride. The organist was Arthur Preuss.

Supper was served to 50 guests at 99 Hall, which also was scene of the buffet supper and reception for 300 relatives and friends from California, Oregon, Wausau, Milwaukee, Manitowoc and Michigan.

A tour of northern Wisconsin and Michigan is being taken by the newlyweds. The bride is a 1954 graduate of North High School and is employed at Security National Bank. Her husband received his diploma from Central High School in 1953 and works for Leick's Furniture Co.
