St. Peter Claver Service Unites Gartman-Miller Pair
Miss Kathleen Ann Gartman, R. 1, Oostburg, was the bride and James P. Miller,
the bridegroom, in a marriage ceremony which took place Saturday, Oct. 25, at
2 p.m. in St. Peter Claver Church. Officiant was the Rev. Robert M. Hoeller.
Two bouquets of all-white chrysanthemums and pompons flanked the altar for
the service.
As the bride placed a single red rose at the altar of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, "O Mary, My Queen, My Mother" was sung by Mrs. Loraine Fale. Also, she
served as organist for the selection and sang, "Our Father" and "Ave Maria"
during the ceremony and provided organ accompaniment.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gartman, R. 1, Oostburg. Mr.
Gartman presented his daughter in the rite to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Miller, 1733 Elm Ave.
The bride chose a gown of satin peau for her wedding, styled along A-lines
with a full back, falling into a chapel train. Other features of her dress
were a peau d'ange lace bodice, bishop sleeves and pearl trim around the
scalloped neckline. Lace appliques highlighted the front and back of her
skirt and a tiny bow accented the front of her waistline.
Lace petals edged and trimmed with pearls formed her forward tiara headpiece
to hold a bouffant pure silk illusion veil. She carried a cascade
arrangement of white chrysanthemums, red roses and white pompons.
A cousin of the bride, Miss Linda Lorenz of Kohler, had the maid of honor
role in a peppermint chiffon sheath dress, featuring a satin empire waistband
and a back bow with streamers. Ruffles accented the neckline and cuffs of
her long sleeves. Forward chiffon petals, trimmed with bow loops, held her
nylon illusion veil and her flowers were a crescent arrangement of bronze
and yellow pompons.
Two bridesmaids were gowned identically to the honor aid. They were Miss
Mary Beeck, R. 3, Sheboygan, and Miss Nancy Miller, the bridegroom's sister.
Jerald Miller was his brother's best man in the ceremony, and a brother of
the bride, Neil Gartman, R. 1, Oostburg, was a groomsman, along with Leo
Leick III. Guests were shown to their places in church by a cousin of the
bride, Jerome Beeck, and Larry Miller, another brother of the bridegroom.
Johnny's Supper Club was the scene of a buffet supper during the evening for
350 guests. A reception and dance followed at the same place.
A honeymoon of one week at a resort in Phelps County is planned by the
couple, after which they will be at home at 5609A County Trunk J, Sheboygan.
Former Miss Gartman was graduated from South High School in 1968 and her
husband, one year earlier. She is employed in the office of Leverenz Shoe
Co., and he is attending Lakeshore Technical Institute-Sheboygan, in his
final year as a candidate for an associate degree in electronics.
