Pretty Wedding Was Solemnized Early This A. M.
Miss Henrietta Gartman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Gartman, 1010 North
Ninth street, and George J. Hammes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clement Hammes, who
reside near Pigeon River, were united in marriage at six o'clock this morning
in the Holy Name Catholic church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev.
D.F. Thill and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Burkard, close friends of the couple,
attended them.
The bride looked attractive in a suit of navy blue veldyne trimmed with
oppossum. She wore a becoming hat to correspond and a corsage bouquet of
roses and swansonia. Mrs. Burkard wore a navy blue taffeta dress and a
corsage similar to the bride's.
After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's
parents to the members of the bridal party and the immediate relatives of the
couple. The home was decorated in a profusion of cut flowers artistically
arranged.
Mr. and Mrs. Hammes left shortly after breakfast on a honeymoon trip to
Milwaukee from where they will continue their honeymoon by boat to Ludington,
Detroit, and Niagara Falls. They will stop at various places of interest and
before returning here, will visit Chicago. They will be at home to friends
after October first at 1010 North Ninth street. Mr. and Mrs. Hammes were
accompanied as far as Milwaukee by Mr. and Mrs. Burkard. The groom has been
employed in the office of the Gutsch Brewing company for the past seven
years. A host of friends extend felicitations to the happy couple.
