Miss Elyner Gartman Weds Sergeant Harry H. Grasse

Prior to the traditional midnight mass on Christmas eve, St. Clement's church was the scene of a candlelight wedding ceremony in which the Rev. John D. Durnin united in marriage Miss Elyner Gartman, 704 Broughton drive, and Staff Sergeant Harry H. Grasse of Chanute Field, Rantoul, Ill.

Marriage vows were repeated by the couple before the high altar which was alight with Christmas candles and bedecked with festive poinsettias and smilax. Since the marriage was solemnized during the season of advent the ceremony was a quiet one.

The bride was attired in a frock fashioned of Victory blue porosa crepe with which she wore a Kamchatka fox jacket and a veiled blue pompadour hat. Her red, white and blue corsage of her own design consisted of a single American Beauty rose encircled with white rosebuds and rimmed with blue Alpine violets. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. William A. Reiss, Jr.

On Christmas day Sergeant and Mrs. Grasse left for Rantoul, Ill., where the bridegroom is an instructor in the Air Corps Technical School at Chanute Field. He was able to secure only a 36-hour leave from his duties. Mrs. Grasse will return to Sheboygan later. She holds a secretarial position at the C. Reiss Coal company, and for the present will continue to make her home in this city.

Sgt. Grasse is the son of Mrs. Helen Grasse, 1111 High avenue. In June, 1940, he enlisted in the regular forces of the United States army and was assigned to one of the regiments attached to the Tenth Air Base. He is a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, the U.S. Holabird Technical School, Baltimore, Maryland, and recently completed a special course of training at Fort McPharson, Atlanta, Georgia.
