Cornelius Shaw b. 1782--d. 1860 --father
Elizabeth Shaw b.1790--d.1863---mother

It should correctly read:

Cornelius Courter b. 1782--d 1860
Elizabeth Courter (his wife whose maiden name remains unknown) b. 1790--d. 1863

I am a direct descendent of this couple, having researched them,-- spending several days at the Register of Deeds office in Sheboygan, finding land records re: Courter including the "Last Will and Testiment" of Cornelius Courter. I have looked at census records and have the complete Civil War Pension file for their son-in-law Joseph Shaw which contains the marriage record of their daughter Jane (Courter) Shaw to Joseph Shaw.

Their son, James W. Courter with his family, and their living Shaw grandchildren all migrated to Clark County, Wisconsin where they lived out their lives.
