Seymour Ellicson was born on May 7, 1831 in Kragero, Norway. After emigrating from Norway with his parents in 1846, the family settled in Erie County, New York State. After his mother passed away. Seymour's father remarried and relocated the family to Wisconsin. He married Salome Snell in 1853 in Greenbush, Wisconsin. Seymour passed away on July 5, 1916 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin located in Washburn County. He and his wife are buried together in the Shell Lake Cemetery off County B in Shell Lake, Wisconsin.

Salome Snell was born on April 7, 1834 in Cortland County, New York State, the daughter of John and Phoebe Snell. Salome passed away on December 28, 1919. Another source shows Salome was born on April 5, 1835.

Seymour and Salome are my great-great-grandparents. This was whom I had received drumsticks from the Civil War. My grandmother saved them for us kids later on. Seymour's child "Seymour Adelbert" was a small child at the time but could remember his father coming home from the war. Seymour was enrolled in June of 1861. He served in Company B. of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry. There he participated in nearly all the sieges, battles and skirmishes his command was in. These included, Fredrickstown, Corinth, New Madrid, Ft. Pillow, and Vicksburg. According to release papers he was captured on September 14, 1862 not and released on September 22, 1862. He was honorably discharged in the autumn of 1864.
