Akers Family Cemetery, on Dye Rd off of McNiel Hill Rd, NE, Floyd Co., VA. 2121 Location Update: This is a two-person gravesite, alongside the access for 285 Dye Road NE which is is to the left of Hwy 671 marker on photo. (Dye Rd has not been identified by this aerial photo) Proceed abt 420 yards from McNeil Hill Rd NE. Cemetery on the right - fenced and well maintained. Notes: (src: Find A Grave; contributor unknown) William Henry Akers was in Co. H. 4th VA Reserves
in the War Between the States. He and his son are buried in a field just off
Daniel's Run on McNeil Hill Rd. William was married to Elizabeth Akers (Akers
before her marriage. Elizabeth was born 9 June 1825 and died 6 April 1902 and
is buried at the Wilson Cemetery in Floyd County, not too far from where
William is buried. She is buried very near her daughter Susan Virginia Akers
who was born 11 June 1857 and died 17 Jan. 1934. Susan was married to Robert
Smith. Here is a list of the children from census records: Ona Jane, Samuel
O., William J., Mary A., Sarah M., Tabitha S. also called Susan Virginia,
Nancy Ellen, John B., James H., Charley, and Armilla Lee. |
