Clinton C. and Brenda Wade, Christiansburg, Earnest and Pam Wade, Christiansburg, Jimmie and
Ellen Wade, Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Esker & Reva Wade, Radford; sister, Lola Roy, Christiansburg;
grandchildren, Melissa Weeks,
Matthew Wade, Jennifer Wade, Amanda Wade; great-grandchildren,
Branson Weeks, Chandler Weeks. Funeral service was held
at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, with Elder Larry Hollandsworth and Reverend
James Walker officiating. Interment

Obit: Published in Roanoke Times on March 15, 2012 William
M. (Bill) Conner, 87, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He
was born on July 11, 1924, in Floyd County, to Daniel and Louella Conner. He
proudly served his country in the Army during World War II, participating in
the Second Wave at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He felt great pride
in taking part in the liberation of the concentration camps. Upon return from
World War II, he began his lifelong career as an electrician, working for
Delta Electric Company for 13 years, S&W Cafeterias, and Macke Vending
Company from which he retired after 25 years of service. Along with his many
accomplishments, he served in the Civil Air Patrol for more than 50 years. He
was a Free Mason of the Taylor Lodge in Salem for over 50 years. He was also,
a member of the American Legion Post #3. He
is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alta Wade Conner; brother, G. Wade
Conner and wife, Eunice, of Vinton; daughter, Dolores Leed
and husband, Stephen, of Yorktown; one grandson; and five
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the Wade family and the best
neighbors in the world. Special
thanks to the VAMC, Salem and the doctors, nurses and other staff who have
provided excellent care over the last several years. Also, to the Good
Samaritan Hospice staff for their care and support over the last three
months. Your compassion and care are greatly appreciated. Funeral
Service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Marvin Wade officiating.
Interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery,
Dublin. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March
15, 2012, at Lotz Funeral Home Salem. In
