1934 Obit:

Max Meadows – Funeral services for Alvis Marion Thompson, 83, who died Friday following a stroke of paralysis, were held Sunday from the Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. L.D. Mayberry of Wytheville, assisted by the Rev. J.C. McClusky, pastor of the Max Meadows church.

Mr. Thompson was born in Floyd County and moved here about 35 years ago. For a number of years, he had been a justice of the peace.

The deceased is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Will Shelor, Mrs. Roy Leedy, Mrs. Tom Nelson, and Mrs. Ellis Allison, and one son M.M. Thompson.

Interment was in the Mabe cemetery near here. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased Fred W. Moore, Roy Shelor, Arnold Shelor, Brown Allison, John Allison, and Carl Huddleson. Granddaughters acted as flower girls.
