a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Mahala on the Green Spring Road, near Abingdon. She
is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mahala and Mrs. William Nunley, both of
Abingdon: five sons, Levi and Gene Otey, both of Abingdon, Joe, Preston, and
John Otey, all of Bristol: 51 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The
body is at the Henderson Funeral Chapel in Abingdon. Death
Notice: OTEY
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Ellen Otey, 79, of Abingdon will be held
at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountain View Methodist Church, near Abingdon, with
the Rev. Con Henley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Richard Russell, Wallace Smith, John Clark, Jack Jones, Leonard
Blackwell and Jimmy Selfe. The body will remain at
the Henderson Funeral Chapel of Abingdon until one hour before services when
it will be taken to the church. Mrs. Otey is survived by two daughters, Mrs.
Minnie Mahala and Mrs. William Nunley, both of Abingdon, and five sons, Levi,

CITY, Tenn. Kathleen Greer, age 76, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, in
Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Kathleen
was born May 29, 1932, in Abingdon, Va., to the late Preston and Pocahontas
Henry Otey. She loved her five dogs as well as all animals and she liked to
cook. She loved her family and all her friends dearly and will truly be
missed. Kathleen was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee
Greer; son, Timothy "Tim" Greer; sister, Elizabeth Hunt; brother,
Ira Otey; and grandsons, Gregory Otey and Donnie Artrip. Survivors
include her daughters, Lynda Loux of Elizabethton
and Sue "Sissy" Sutherland and husband John of Abingdon; sons,
Roger Wayne Morrison and wife Joana of Mountain City, Robert Jr.
"Bob" Otey and wife Trula of Bluff City
and Robert Lee Morrison and wife Georgia of Abingdon; sisters, Gracie Wolfe,

Washington County, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Johnston Memorial
Hospital. He
was born September 9, 1937, to the late Elijah and Pocahontas Henry Otey. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Wesley
Otey; eight sisters; and three brothers. He
attended Free Pentecostal Assembly in Abingdon. Survivors
include his wife, Shirley Marie Otey of Abingdon; five children, Carolyn
Henson and husband, Kevin of Bluff City, Tenn., Carl Hugh Otey Jr. and wife,
Diane of Bristol, Tenn., Freddy Preston Otey and wife, Debbie of Damascus,
Kathy Otey of Kingsport, Tenn., and Daniel Keith Otey and wife, Brenda of
Bristol, Va.; three grandchildren, David Otey, Willis Cox, and Nakeeshia Cox; eight great grandchildren; one sister,
Gracie Ferguson of Meadowview; several nieces and nephews; and two very
special friends, Ray and Bobby Duncan. Funeral
services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Frost Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Gobble officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain
View United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8
p.m. Wednesday evening, April 2, 2014, at the funeral home. Active

daughters, Betty Russell and husband Tommy of Hudson, NC and Katherine Anice Crabtree and husband Billy of Abingdon, VA; seven
grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. A graveside service will be
held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Mountain View Methodist
Cemetery off Rt. 75 with Pastor Paul Price officiating. Pallbearers will be
David Anderson, Austin Hicks, Hunter Hicks, and Steven Scarberry.

Va. Doris Otey Johnson, 84, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at
Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Washington County, Va.,
daughter of the late Levi Otey Sr. and Hazel Lane Otey. Doris graduated from
Radford University with a bachelor's degree in education and from East
Tennessee State University with a master's degree in education. She was a
school teacher in Washington County, Virginia schools for 36 years. Doris was
a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She was a Master Gardener and a
former member of the Abingdon, Garden Club. She also was a member of the
Business and Professional Women's Club, the Mattie Roundtree Club, and a
former member of the Glenrochie Ladies Golf
Association. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her
husband, Charles W. Johnson, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa J.
Simmons and husband, Brad of Abingdon,; brother, Levi Otey, Jr. and wife,
Teresa of Abingdon,; sister, Margaret Ward and husband, Jim of Pennsylvania;
grandsons, Bradley Simmons of Johns Island, S.C., and Josh Simmons and wife,
Lindsay of McLean, Va.; and great-grandchildren, Jamison, Eliza, and John
Ezra Simmons, all of McLean. The funeral service for Doris Otey Johnson will
be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, in the Main Street Chapel of
Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Ellie Scofield officiating. The family
will receive friends prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home from 5
until 7 p.m. The committal service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday,
November 30, 2015, at Knollkreg Memorial Park with
