Richmond Times-Dispatch (VA) - Sunday, March 23, 2003 Sidney Harrison McNiel, 81, of Kents
Store, died March 22, 2003 in Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born May 21, 1921 in
West Virginia, he was son of the late Sidney S. and Berta Harrison McNiel. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Drucilla Dille McNiel. Mr. McNiel was a
retired engineer with the Commonwealth of Virginia and a member of Providence
Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during
World War II. He is survived by a son, Sidney Kirk McNiel and wife, Betsy of
Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Marian McNiel of Kents Store; three
granddaughters, Laura, Kelly and Anne Marshall McNiel. A memorial service

Martha Lee Tabor 1942 Kanawha Co., WVA.
Martha was a graduate of Charleston
High School, class of 1939. She was a member of Canaan United Methodist
Church, previously known as Humphreys Methodist church which she joined when
she was 12 years old. In her final years attended Calvary Church of the
Nazarene. Martha was an active member of the
United Methodist Women, Sunday School Teacher until her early 90’s, an avid
prayer warrior, storyteller, baker/cook and gardener and loved to sew. If you
received a pan of her homemade cinnamon rolls you were blessed. Christmas Eve
was never complete without having a homemade donut. Martha worked alongside
her husband to build up the family fence business. They were blessed to have
63 years together. Martha was preceded in death by her
husband Gene McNiel and her son Richard McNiel. She is survived by her
daughter and her husband, Linda and Charles Snyder, her daughter-in-law, Val
McNiel, her grandchildren Cheryl Kelly (Bruce), Angie Harless (Randy), Tracie
Atkinson (Tommy) and Richie McNiel (Leslie). She had 5 great grandchildren
and 1 great- great grandchild. Due to COVID, a family grave site
service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Elk Hills Memorial
Park. A memorial service honoring her life will be held later in the spring
or summer at Canaan United Methodist Church. 2005 Death:

Charleston Gazette (WV) - Saturday, December 24, 2005 Mr. Sidney E. "Gene" McNiel,
85, of Charleston died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital after
an extended illness. Gene was a graduate of Charleston High
School class of 1939 and attended Morris Harvey College. He was a member of
West Side United Methodist Church and the West Side Lions Club. He was an
avid stamp collector. He was retired from McNiel Fence Company, which he
founded with his father, Roscoe McNiel, in 1947. Gene is survived by his loving wife of
63 years, Martha McNiel; son and his wife, Richard and Valerie of Charleston;
daughter and her husband, Linda and Charles Snyder of Sissonville;
grandchildren, Cheryl Kelly, Angie Harless, Tracie Atkinson and Richie
McNiel; and great-grandchildren, Jessica and Anna. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec.
27, at West Side United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Rhodes
officiating, assisted by Richie McNiel. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial
Park, Big Chimney. A gathering of family and friends will
