WRIGHT, Lena King, 86, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 9, 2001. She was born in Check, Va., November 28, 1914, daughter of the late Michael and Lillie Ann King. She was the widow of William Edward Wright. Mrs. Wright was a member of Patterson Memorial Grace Brethren Church. She retired from Virginia Plastics Products. Survivors include son, Roy L. Wright and wife, Eva of Valrico, Fla.; daughter, Joyce W. Moore of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Lynn Wright of Houston, Texas, Katherine Wright Emline of Atlanta, Ga., Julie Wright of Orlando, Fla., Artie Moore and wife, Sherry of Moneta, Steve Moore and wife, Lori Shultz Moore of Wirtz, Teri Moore Nance and husband, Jay of Roanoke; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Emline, Megan Wright, Brittany Shultz, Taylor Moore, Kristen Nance and Phillip Nance; sisters, Georgia Hix and Emma King, both of Vinton; brothers, L. B. King of Vinton and Earl King of Check. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Camden and Dr. Hormel and the staff of Lewis-Gale Hospital, Dr. Barnhart and the staff of Richfield, especially 2 West, and Gentle Shepherd Hospice. William E. (Ed) Wright, age 67, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was a retired building contractor, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post #3. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena King Wright, one son, Roy Lee Wright, Valrico, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Wright Moore, Roanoke; mother, Mrs. Flossie Vest Wright; four brothers, Paul D. Wright, Eldridge L. Wright, Jr., James H. Wright, all of Roanoke; John L. Wright, New Mexico; five sisters, Mrs. Letitis W. Atkinson, Mrs. Mary W. York, both of Richmond; Mrs. Martha L. Blankenship, Pilot; Mrs. Dorothy W. Brammer, Mrs. Margaret W. Carter, both of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Julie Wright, Valrico, Fla.; Lynn Wright, Houston, Texas; Kathryn Wright Emline, Valrico, Fla.; Artie, Steve and Terri Moore, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakley's North Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ron E. Thompson and the Rev. Rudy Holland officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
