Surviving are her children, Nelva Layne, Nicklesville, Va., Debra Smith, Ballard, W.Va., Ennis Victor Hughett, Dublin, Va., Charles Alvis Hughett, Sr., and Anita Henry, both of Christiansburg, Va.; halfsisters, Gay Reedy, Judy Duncan and Helen Widener, all of Chilhowie, Va.; halfbrothers, Wayne Collins, Bristol, Va., Eddie Collins, Chilhowie, Va., and Roosevelt Stanley, Wise, Va.; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 2 n d at the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Lesley Shelton with interment to follow in West View Cemetery, Radford. Lucille R. Hughett, 97, of Roanoke, died on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She was the daughter of Glen and Ollie Rupe. Lucille was born in 1922 in Radford, VA and was married to the late Rev. Quentin E. Hughett for 66 years.

Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Eula Quesenberry (Roy) and Ellen Harris (Esker).

She is survived by daughters, Carolyn McDaniel (Jim) and Charlotte Brubaker (Wayne); grandchildren, Cary McDaniel (Karen), Clarissa Tolley (Nelson), Steve Staton (Sarah), Cameron Brubaker (Tisha); 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Lucille loved to read and do crafts and bowled for many years. But most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her special time of the year was during the holidays. She loved decorating, cooking and family gatherings. The holidays this year will be the best ever, with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

A special thanks to the staff of Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home and Bethel Ridge Assisted Living for her care the last nine years.The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2:00 on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019 at the Appalachian Conference Cemetery on Ruebush Rd in Dublin, VA with the Rev. Kenneth Kingrea officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 321 Marshall Ave., Roanoke, VA 24016.

Obituary: Margaret L. Jordan, 99

Margaret L. Jordan aged 99 of Albany Twp, RD2 New Albany died Saturday afternoon in her home following a lingering illness. She was born April 2, 1889 in Indian Valley, Floyd County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Stephen and Mary Akers Hewitt. Her husband, the late Thomas Jordan, died in 1981.

She was a member of the Laddsburg Community Church and had been a resident of New Albany since 1941. She was a gold star mother as one son, Walter, died in the U.S. Army during the second World War in Luzon, Philippines. She was also predeceased by two other sons & two daughters.

Surviving, in addition, are four daughters: Mrs. Effie Norris; Mrs. Anne Vaughn and Mrs. Mary Shumay (actually “Shumate”), all at home and Mrs. Nora Kelly of Medina, Ohio; two sons Thomas Jr. of RD1 New Albany and Lloyd of Mildred, PA; twenty-four grand; fifty four great- and thirty great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday 10:30 a.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St. in Dushore with the Rev. Thomas Geoger, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Towanda, officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford County Memorial Park Cemetery, Luther Mills. Friends may call at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m.
