Alleys in Floyd Co., VA
Barb, I have admired your work for some years.
I don't follow Floyd or Montgomery Co sites regularly, but know they are there.
There was a Simeon Alley md to Elizabeth
Booth who lived in Alum Ridge. I found a copy of her death information on Va
Lib digital files.. She died in 1883. If that is correct, Simeon was living at
that time.
I know the 1890 census burned and is
partially replaced. I don't find Simeon's name on that list, so he could have
died before 1890.
All the Floyd Co books ... Tice, Cox
Cemetery, etc. I sold to other researchers some years back, thought I was
through.
I'm not.
How can I find a death date for him? I'm
trying to find documentation that would show his parents...he has been a
mystery for years. showing up in Montg. Co in 1850. and researchers have
claimed he was adopted by my 3d gr-grandparents or he was the bastard son of my
3d gr-grandmothers sister. I believe he was born in Amherst VA but need
proof.
We hope to find his marriage in the
Christiansburg Court house..
There was an Anderson Alley md, to Rachel
Altizer. He came from KY and no one seemed to know his parentage.
I found his death information on VA Library
and it turned out he was the son of Wm and Sarah Akers Alley who I have been
pursuing for years , along with Edythe Collins and Floyd Co VA Alleys. Rachel
Altizer gave the information.
As an Alley, Altizer, Cox, Mabry I'm always
interested in these lines.
