Pamela Judd Clark - Robert Eugene Clark, Jr - Two killed in motorcycle wreck

Two killed in motorcycle wreck

Floyd Press, The (VA) - Monday, August 24, 2015

Two Floyd County residents were killed in a motorcycle accident near Bassett Friday.

According to State Police, the accident occurred at 10:08 p.m. on Route 903, just north of Route 57A in Henry County. Robert Eugene Clark, Jr, 59 and Pamela Judd Clark, 56, were traveling southbound on Route 903.

A 2005 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Conel Stafford Martin, Jr, 51, of Bassett, pulled out of a business traveling northbound in the wrong lane. Clark swerved to avoid the truck and the motorcycle overturned, ejecting both riders. Both were struck by Martin's truck.

The Clarks were transported to Martinsville Hospital and later died as a result of the crash. Both had been wearing a helmet.

Martin was charged with reckless driving.

Pamela Judd Clark - Robert Eugene Clark Jr. - Weekend wreck claims Floyd couple

Weekend wreck claims Floyd couple

Martinsville Bulletin (VA) - Monday, August 24, 2015

After attending a worship service in Collinsville Friday night, a Floyd couple died from injuries they received in a traffic crash on Route 903 near Bassett.

According to a news release from the Virginia State Police, the accident happened at 10:08 p.m. Friday on Route 903, just north of Route 57A in Henry County. A 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was traveling northbound on Route 903 on the wrong side of the roadway. A 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling southbound on Route 903 attempted to avoid the Colorado and overturned, ejecting both riders.

Robert Eugene Clark Jr., 59, who was driving the motorcycle, and his wife, Pamela Judd Clark, 56, a passenger on the motorcycle, both of Floyd, were transported from the scene to Memorial Hospital in Martinsville and later died as a result of the crash, according to the state police news release and a representative with the local state police office. Each of the Clarks was wearing a helmet. The couple had just left a service at T.R.A.S.H. (Totally Redeemed Anointed Servants of the Most High) Ministry.

Conel Stafford Martin Jr., 51, of Bassett, who was driving the Colorado, was not injured. He was charged with reckless driving, the release said. It added that Virginia State Police Master Trooper J.D. Byrd is investigating the accident.

Owen Caldwell, vice president/operations for T.R.A.S.H. Ministry, said the Clarks attended a worship service there Friday night. Caldwell said he didn't know the Clarks and didn't get to talk with them because there were about 150 people at the service.

"They (the Clarks) were part of a group from Floyd," Caldwell said.

Several other officials at the ministry could not be reached for comment, nor could the pastor of Abundant Life Fellowship in Pilot. According to an obituary posed on the website of Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd, the funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Abundant Life Fellowship. It added that friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m.

"Bobby and Pam were humble people and loved people unconditionally. They would do anything for anybody in need. They were giving type of people," said Larry Meadors, former pastor at Abundant Life Fellowship and was the Clarks' pastor there for a number of years. "He (Bobby) quickly got involved and became associate pastor for a number of years at Abundant life."

Both of the Clarks worked as public servants, Meadors said. Bobby Clark had worked as a firefighter in Fairfax County, HAZMAT coordinator for Pulaski County and had done similar work in Floyd County. "Pastor Bobby" was an ordained minister for the denomination International Pentecostal Holiness Church and was leading a "re-launch" of a church in Floyd that was to be renamed One Accord Biker Church.

Pam Clark had worked in nursing, at hospitals or in home health, where she still worked, Meadors said.

Bobby and Pam Clark had been missionaries to China with their son, Torrey, Meadors said.

"Bobby and Pam were very dedicated Christians. They were very careful to lift up Christ and put others first (before themselves). They were very unassuming," said Meadors.

Meadors said he was "really shocked" by the Clarks' deaths. "It was so sudden and unexpected, heartbreaking. Bobby had so many plans and visions for the future."

Meadors said they leave behind their son, Torrey; a daughter, Robin Quesinberry; and several grandchildren.
