Uncle Jim Slider was called to the bedside of his sick daughter, Mrs. Robt. Street, who was thought to be dying. She breathed her last, Saturday and was buried in the Lynch cemetery.

Mrs. Joe Rodes died at her home west of Point last Thursday, with fever and her remains were buried at the Lynch graveyard Friday afternoon. We extend our condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family.

Mr. P.C. Porter Dead
Mr. P.C. Porter died at his home in the North part of town about 7:30 o'clock after a short illness of pneumonia and his remains were interred in the Lynch cemetery in the North part of the county, Thursday afternoon his pastor, Rev. H.B. Cash of Cumby, conducting the funeral services in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends. Mr. Porter had been a resident of our little city for about eight or ten months, moving here from his farm in the Lynch community. He was seventy-three years of age, a member of the Christian church, a good straight forward citizen and numbered his friends by the score in the neighborhood where he lived most of his life and reared a large family. He is survived by the following children, his wife having preceded him to the unknown world: Mr. R.J Porter, Mrs. J.R. Cunningham, C.E. Porter, W.T. Porter, J.F. Porter and Miss Vivian Porter, all of this county and Mrs. Mattie Young of Yantis, all of whom were with him in his last illness. The Leader joins with the family in extending sympathy to the sorrowing ones.

Pioneer Lady Died Friday
Grandma, wife of W.A. (Uncle Billie) Adams, died last Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jim White, about a mile this side of Lone Oak. She was 76 years, 6 months and one day old. Grandma Adams had been married something more than 57 years. She had been a life-long Christian, having cast her lot with the Baptist church in early life and was held in the highest esteem by all. Funeral services were conducted at the Lynch cemetery Friday afternoon by Rev. Thos. Dement, eight of her grandsons acting as pallbearers. She is survived by her husband, aged 78 years, one daughter, Mrs. Jim White, and other relatives. A large crowd attended the funeral of Grandma Adams at Lynch Friday.

The remains of Mrs. Adams of Lone Oak was laid to rest in the Lynch graveyard Friday afternoon, many friends attending the funeral. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the loved ones left behind.

Funeral services for Bonnie Lee Vanasperen, age 91, of East Tawakoni were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Barksdale officiating. Burial was in the Lynch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Christopher Hurn, C.P. Hurn III, S.R. Rodriguez, Todd Mitchell and Dean Anderson. Mrs. Vanasperen passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Baylor Health Care Hospital in Dallas. Bonnie Lee Vanasperen was born September 22, 1913, in Floyd to Charles Frank and Bertha Johnston Busby. She married Andy Vanasperen on January 29, 1966, in Tijuana, Mexico. He survives. She was a retired bookkeeper for the jewelry corporation, Zales. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #2559 in East Tawakoni. For over 14 years she sold pull tab, instant-win bingo cards. She was also a member of Emory Baptist Church. Mrs. Vanasperen is survived by her husband, Andy; sons, Ralph E. Stone and wife Jackie of San Antonio and C.P. Hurn Jr. and wife Susan of East Tawakoni; daughter, Vicki L. Vanasperen of Hutchins; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Frank Hurn in May of 1990; and three brothers, Lester Vance Busby, A.L. Busby and Gaston Busby. Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Rachel Keeler, 94, will be held on Wednesday, June 8th, at 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, Point, with Rev. Billy Smith and Rev. Jay Sikes officiating. Burial will take place at Lynch Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Kirk Stuart, Gary Stuart, Kenny Armstrong, Rusty Armstrong, C.H. Pritchett, Michael Stuart, Harold Stuart, and Craig Stuart. She died in her home on June 6, 2005. Mrs. Keeler was born in Point, on August 26, 1910, to parents Tuck S. Stuart and Nora Slider Stuart. On January 7, 1929, she married Dave Keeler in Dallas. She was a retired employee of E-Systems in Greenville, and was a member of Woosley Baptist Church. She is survived by her brother, Preston Stuart of Saltillo; her sisters, Maurine Pritchett of Dallas, Mattie Lou Morris of Pasedena and Norma Dean Armstrong of Point. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Bobby Stuart; her parents, Tuck and Nora Stuart; and her husband, Dave Keeler. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Lynch Cemetery Fund.

Funeral services for Alma Marie Teller, 70, of Point were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Point Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.B. Harlan officiating. Burial was in Lynch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Bowers, Justin Quinn, Pete Tolleson, Lyle Varnes, Bill Waters, and Gary Tolleson. Mrs. Teller died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at East Texas Medical Center of Quitman. She was born on May 18, 1935, to Justin and Alma Mae Cooney Quinn, in Philadelphia, Penn. She married Harry C. Teller on December 19, 1988, in Pennsylvania. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She is survived by a son, Edward Bowers of Allen; daughters, Judy Varnes of West Tawakoni, Nancy Stradley of Point, Alma Tolleson of East Tawakoni, and Justine Tant of Greenville; brother, Justin Quinn; sister, Elsie Montpas of Plano; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Point Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Don Shaw, 65, of Lone Oak were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville with Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Burial was at Lynch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Toby Hooten, Gaylon Stogner, Dwaine Hooten, Eddie Kent, David Kent and John Michael Kent. Honorary pallbearers were Pete Nicholson, James Abbott, William Ray, Wayne Jones, Chester Levassar, and Kenneth Maroney. Mr. Shaw died at Paris Regional Medical Center Thursday, Sept. 1, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 27, 1940, in Greenville to the late Artie Homer Shaw and Eula Mae Foster Shaw. On September 26, 1965, he married Helen Hooten in Durant, Okla. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1958. Don served in the Army National Guard in Greenville. He previously worked for Tedford Chevrolet in Farmersville, Grady Chevrolet in Greenville, and PCA of America. Don is survived by his wife Helen of Lone Oak; three sons, Danny Shaw and wife Lori of Greenville, Jimmy Shaw of Lone Oak, Steven Shaw and wife Monica of Lone Oak; two daughters, Gwendolyn Griffin and husband Rock of Plano, and Sherri Ziegler and husband Thomas of Wichita Falls; ten grandchildren, Lindsay and Colin Sell of Commerce, Megan and Katie Shaw of Greenville, Devin, Eric and Aubrie Shaw of Lone Oak, Nicholas Shaw, Tristen and Peyton Ziegler of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Artie Kent and Jackie Kent of Leonard; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Shaw, and two sisters, Shirley Farmer and Jan Sims. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Peters Funeral Home, Greenville, was in charge of arrangements.
