KANA, EDWIN JOHN
Edwin John Kana, 80, of Bay City died December 7, 2003 at the Methodist
Hospital in Houston.
He was born June 6, 1923 in Holman, Texas to the late Joseph and Amelia
Kristik Kana.
Mr. Kana was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a resident of
Bay City since 1946.
He was a retired air conditioning contractor, a veteran of WW II serving
in the US Navy, a life member of Philip H. Parker VFW Post # 2438, and a
member of the Knights of Columbus Bay City Council # 3070.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Jerry Harryman
of Houston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Kana of Houston and
Mark and Mary Ellen Kana of Dallas; sisters, Georgian Pilgrim of San
Antonio and Dorothy Oliver of Miami, Florida; brother, Ivan Kana of
Rosenberg; three grandchildren, Gerald Harryman and wife Mary of
Pearland, Nicole Harper and husband Arlon of League City, and Madeline
Elsie Kana of Dallas; and two great grandchildren, Pierce and Chase
Harper both of League City.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Kana and his second
wife, Minnie Lynn Kana; sisters, Martha Mozch and Mary Bartosh; and
brothers, Charlie and Jerome Kana.
Rosary was held 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at Taylor Bros.
Funeral Home and the funeral mass is 10 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Cross
Catholic Church with the Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment
will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Blessing.
Pallbearers are Dennis Bartosh, George Knebel, Jay Harryman, Steve
Carson, Lawrence Bartosh, and David Bartosh.
Memorials may be made to Holy Cross School Scholarship, 2001 Katy, Bay

KANA, IVAN ANDREW
RICHMOND - Ivan Andrew Kana, 84, of Richmond and formerly of Midfield,
died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004.
He was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Holman, to the late Joseph and Amalie
Kristik Kana. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S.
Army. He was a member of the Cecil Lee American Legion Post 649 of
Blessing and the KJT Society. He was a retired farmer and was an
electrician for Osina & Knebel Electric of El Campo.
Survivors: wife, Annie Nemec Kana; daughter, Patricia Ann Hogan of
Stafford; sons, Francis Joseph Kana of Bossier City, La., and Paul Kana
of Richmond; sisters, Georgian Pilgrim of Summerset and Dorothy Oliver
of Miami; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: son, William Kana; sisters, Martha Mazoch and Mary
Bartosh; and brothers, Charlie Kana, Jerome Kana, and Edwin Kana.
Visitation will begin 1 p.m. today at Triska Funeral Home chapel.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic
Church in El Campo.

WILLIAM TROY "BILL" KAY
July 3, 1945 - April 12, 2006
William Troy "Bill" Kay of Sinton, Texas passed away on April 12, 2006
at the age of 60.
Bill was born July 3, 1945 in Richmond, Texas to John D. and Martha
Meador Kay. He grew up in and around Van Vleck, Texas where he graduated
from high school.
Bill was a Vietnam Veteran, having received a Purple Heart and Bronze
Star Medal. He is a life long member of VFW and is a past commander of
the Zapata Post 7768.
He was employed in the oilfield for most of his working career. For the
last 15 years, Bill was self-employed as an Oil and Gas Consultant,
working in the United States and West Africa.
Survivors include: his wife, Jessie Lee Kay of Sinton; daughters and
sons-in-law, Carolyn Anderson of Beaufort, South Carolina, Theresa and
Ricky Hernandez of West Columbia, Debbie and Steve Martinez of Brazoria,
Kimberly and Moises Espinoza of Taft, Texas; son and daughter-in-law,
William Troy, Jr. and Jennifer Kay of Sinton; sisters, Barbara Flanagan
of Wadsworth and Jolene Tobar of Dallas; brother, Roger Dale Kay of
Florida; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Joey, Ami, Michael, Ashley,
Julian, Christian, Genesis and a host of other relatives.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006 at Taylor Bros.
Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Hardaway officiating. Interment will
follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers include Pete Anderson, Brent Matura, Duane Matura, Joey
Matura, Ricky Matura and Larry Lewis.
His oilfield friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Stanley Paul Keathley
(October 30, 1932 - September 23, 2011)
Stanley Paul Keathley was born in Waxahachie, Texas,
on October 30, 1932 and journeyed on to be with the Lord on September
23, 2011. He was the third child born to Flem Storey and Constance
Brockman Keathley.
Stanley graduated from Weslaco High School and
attended Wharton County Junior College on a full football scholarship.
He excelled in his studies, and was Little All-American quarterback his
freshman year as well as Freshman Class Favorite. During his sophomore
year at Wharton he was All-State in football. He transferred to Sam
Houston State University on a full football scholarship, and graduated
in 1956 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering.
Stanley attended Officer’s Training at Fort Benning,
Georgia, then for eight years was a member of the Bay City Army Reserve
Unit. He attained the rank of Captain, commanding that unit until his
retirement from the Army.
Stanley taught school in Bay City for several years,
teaching earth science and coaching football and track. During his time
as a teacher, he attended summer classes at the Colorado School of Mines
and Texas A & M at College Station. He went to work for Celanese in 1963
working in Bay City for 13 years. He was an Elder of the First
Presbyterian Church in Bay City. He was president of the Bay City Lions
Club, and a member of the Bay City School Board for six years, serving
as President for three of those years. He transferred to the Pampa,
Texas Celanese plant in 1976, then to the Bishop, Texas Celanese plant
in 1982. Stanley retired as Superintendent of Purchasing in 1988.
After retirement, he and Ardeth moved to Overton in
East Texas where they lived and worked on their piney woods acreage. He
was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Overton, and President
of the Rotary Club there. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary
International, and was Rotarian of the Year. He was an avid golfer, and
especially enjoyed the annual golf reunions with his Junior High
baseball team.
Stanley loved his church, his family, and lived his
life as he thought God wanted. He was a truly wonderful person; everyone
who met Stanley loved him. Former students still called him “Coach” when
they saw him, and he called everyone “Friend”.
Stanley married the love of his life, Ardeth
Brockman, on February 14, 1953. They have three beloved daughters, Karen
Abshier and her husband Kim, of Wadsworth, Texas; Connie Milliff and her
husband, Larry, of Wadsworth, Texas; and Kay Hodges of Allen, Texas.
Stanley is survived by his older brother, Flem Storey Keathley, Jr. and
his wife, Evelyn of Conroe, Texas, his daughters, his six grandchildren,
Amy Abshier-Reyes and her husband, Ricky, of Kansas City, Missouri;
Douglas Abshier and his wife, Stacy, of Schertz, Texas; Kathryn Milliff
of Austin, Texas; Jessamyn DeVos, and her husband, Doug, of Bay City,
Texas; Alan Hodges of Allen, Texas; and Paul Hodges of Austin, Texas;
two great-grandchildren, Esther Rose and Ian Reyes of Kansas City,
Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and loyal dog, Joe. He is also
survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Brockman and his wife Bea, of
Richardson, Texas; and by special friends, Marc and Karin Hill and their
children, Amanda, Chandler, and Spencer, of Bay City, Texas. Stanley is
preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna Nell Dill; his
brother, Dr. David Lee Keathley; niece Linda Dill Day and great-niece
Dana Marie Day.
Pallbearers are his grandsons, Douglas Abshier, Alan
Hodges, Paul Hodges, Grandson-in-law Ricky Reyes, Brother-in-law Larry
Brockman, and friends Marc Hill, John “Hootie” Estlinbaum, and Larry
Kiesling. Honorary Pallbearers are Kim Abshier, Larry Milliff, Doug K.
DeVos, Charlie Tisdale, Ed Mitchell, Jim Rogers, Claude Jungman, Edgar
Douglas, Wayne Harrison, George Durett, Bill Roe, Richard Knapik, and
Glenn Douglas.
Special thanks to Houston Hospice, especially, Jackie
Hooper, Bertha Jefferson, Pat Matthes, Reverend Don Storey, and the
staff of the Legacy in Bay City, Texas.
Visitation, with the family, will be at the funeral
home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at
10:00 AM Monday, September 26, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church of
Bay City with Dr. Mark Stoub officiating. Internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park
in Van Vleck.

Keith, 52, of Markham are scheduled for 2 pm Sunday at Taylor Brothers

Mr. Keith died at 1:20 am
June 28, 1985, at Matagorda General Hospital. He was born Dec. 14,
1932, in Markham to H. C. and Minnie Bell Frieze Keith. Mr. Keith was a
member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his
wife, Millie M. Keith of Markham; two daughters, Debra L. Clayton of
Houston and Anissa Brook of Sargent; two step-daughters, Marie Geary of
San Rosa, Calif., and Melanie Ianniello of Houston; two sons, Kem Keith
of Houston and Calvin Mack Keith of Sargent; one stepson, Judd L. Perry
Jr. of Markham; a sister, Jewel L. White of El Paso; two brothers, J. C.

Mr. Keith was born Sept. 30, 1957, to Bobby Gene and Lillie Rose

home. A resident of Matagorda County for 30 years, he was a member of
the Baptist church.
He is survived by his mother, Lillie Keith of Palacios; daughter,
Jennifer Ann Keith of Van Vleck; two sisters, Deborah Lynn Clayton of
Orting, Wash., and Anissa Brooke Carter of Sargent; and his brother, Kem

MARKHAM [Matagorda County, Texas] - Bobby R. Kelly, 78, of Markham, died
Monday, Feb. 16, 2004.
He was born June 11, 1925, in Aransas Pass, to the late William E. and
Flora Belle Kelly. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant
Service and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Aransas Pass.
Survivors: wife, Hazel L. Kelly; sons, Wallace William Kelly of West
Columbia and Dennis Allen Kelly of Victoria; sister, Alma Bailey of Fort
Worth; brother, J. Houston Kelly of Beeville; seven grandchildren; and
eight great-grandchildren.

SPRING - Gerald Lewis Kennedy Sr., 68, of Spring, died Saturday, Jan.
22, 2005.
He was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Eagle Lake, to the late Lewis Bertrand and
Nellie Mae Matthews Kennedy. He was a US Army veteran, and a retired
television director/producer and served with KTRK TV for 38 years.
Survivors: wife, Shirley Garrison Kennedy; daughter, Susan Elaine Alston
of Spring; sons, Mark Allen Kennedy of Missouri City, Gerald Lewis

R. W. "Bo" Kennedy, 67, of Bay City died September 5, 2004 at
Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
He was born February 12, 1937 in Baytown, Texas to the late Lewis
Bertrand and Nellie Mae Matthews Kennedy. Bo was a lifelong resident of
Bay City and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedar Lane. He
was the service manager for Craft's Furniture Store and he was a veteran
of the U S Air Force.
Survivors include: wife, Ellen Lorena Karl Kennedy of Bay City; daughter
and son-in-law, Kimberly Layne and Carlos Gil of Kingwood, Texas; two
sons, Chris Duane Kennedy of Cedar Park, Texas and Terry Lee Kennedy of
Bay City; sister, Wanda Lee Waters of Texas City, Texas; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Gerald and Shirley Kennedy of Houston, Stephen and Lynne
Kennedy of Victoria, and David and Karen Kennedy of Kansas City,
Missouri; and by seven grandchildren.

SUGAR LAND - Rudolph G. Kidder, 74, of Sugar Land, died Tuesday, Dec.
14, 2004.
He was born June 4, 1930, in New Gulf, to the late Benjamin and Refugia
Gonzalez Kidder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a
graduate of the University of Texas and a retired public relations
spokesman with M.W. Kellogg with 32 years of service. He was a member of
St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land.
Survivors: wife, Ophelia Cantu Kidder; daughters, Rebecca Morris of
Sugar Land and Kimberly Hyde of Plano; sons, Rudolph Kidder Jr. of
Houston and Gary Kidder of Katy; sisters, Irene Rodriguez and Nora
Acosta, both of Harlingen; brother, Charley Kidder of Victoria; eight
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth L.
Elizabeth L. Kimsey, 66, of Bay City died Tuesday June 20, 2000 in
Wharton, Texas. She was born June 15, 1934 in East McKeesport, Pa. to
William and Leona Oliver King.
She is survived by: one daughter, Patricia Pulliam of Laurel,
Mississippi; three sons, Mark Kimsey of Bay City; one sister, Joan Howe
of Pa.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home,
funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2000 at Taylor
Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Nischan officiating. Interment

After 88 joyful years of life, William George King,
known to some as “Jr.” and to others as “Bill”, passed away on Tuesday,
March 23, 2010, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Antioch, California,
due to complications following a brief illness.
Jr. was born on October 27, 1921, in Houston to
William King and Ruby Britt King but spent most of his younger years in
Blessing, Texas. After graduating from Blessing High School, he enlisted
in the United States Navy, serving 6 years and attaining the rank of
chief signalman. On April 21, 1946 Jr. married his sweetheart Verna
Marie Matthes. They lived in Blessing, and later moved to Markham.
During those years, Jr. commuted to Rice University and The University
of Houston while being employed by Tidehaven Independent School District
as a, coach, teacher, and later as principal at Markham Elementary
School. Jr. also earned a Masters Degree from Sam Houston State Teachers
College in Huntsville, Texas. After many happy years at Markham
Elementary School, Jr. retired as principal at Markham but continued
employment with the T.I.S.D., serving as Tax Assessor Collector/Business
Manager.
Jr. was always full of life. His interests were
varied because he hated being idle. He was a teacher, first and
foremost, but he also enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his shop, traveling
with his family, and making new friends. He was an active member of
Masonic Lodge #411 in Blessing, a Charter Member of the American Legion
Cecil B. Post #649 in Blessing, and a proud member of the Pearl Harbor
Survivors Association Mare Island Chapter #11 in Fairfield, California.
Jr. is survived by his second wife: Nadine King of
Brentwood California; daughter: Linda King Wing of Kingsport, Tennessee;
son: Carl William King & wife Theresa of Markham; four grandchildren;
two great grandchildren; sister: Mildred Bess of Corpus Christi;
brother: David King of Houston; step-children: Bill Eller, Larry Eller,
and Sandra Eller; step-grandchildren; and step-great grandchildren all
residing in California. Jr. was preceded in death by his first wife:
Verna Marie Matthes King; mother: Ruby Butt King Hamelink; father:
William King; step-father: Peter Hamelink; and two sister: Ellen Goodman
Meadows and Joy Marie King.
Masonic and Navy Services for William George King
will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Hawley Cemetery in
Blessing.

KINSEY, ALFORD GLYN
Alford Glyn Kinsey
July 8, 1931-Aug. 3, 2006
Alford "Glyn" Kinsey, 75 of Bay City, Texas, died August 3, 2006 in Bay
City, Texas.
He was born July 8, 1931 in Sour Lake, Texas.
Glyn was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was a 1953
graduate of Texas A&M University and afterwards served in the army for
two years. In his professional career and volunteer work, he always
served others. After 34 years of service to farmers and ranchers in
several counties, he retired from the USDA Soil Conservation Service.
Glyn was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Bay City where he
taught Sunday school, served as a Deacon, church treasurer, trustee, and
sang in the choir. He also worked for many years as a leader with the
Royal Ambassadors, a youth mission organization. Glyn was very involved
with Scouting. An Eagle Scout himself, he has served in numerous
positions such as scoutmaster, District Commissioner and on the troop
advancement committee. More recently he continued to be active as a
fund-raiser and avid supporter when his health did not allow him to be
physically involved. In 1978, Neil Armstrong presented him the Silver
Beaver Award - the highest award given by the Sam Houston Area Council
to a volunteer in Scouting.
Glyn is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Shirley Ann Priesmeyer
Kinsey; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Wayne and Sally Ann Root
Kinsey of Sugar Land, Texas, David Glyn and Cindy Lee Ehrlich Kinsey of
Pearland, Texas; and Brian Keith and Teresa Lynn Robertson Kinsey of
Rockwall, Texas; two sisters, Charlotte Raybon and Judy Romig both of El
Campo, Texas; brother-in-law, Oscar Rasmussen of Wharton, Texas and a
sister-in-law, Rosemond Priesmeyer Gunter of Houston, Texas; nine
grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Kenneth Zachry Kinsey,
Shelsea Renee Kinsey, Jonathan Michael Kinsey, Hillary Anne Kinsey,
Brandyn Ryan Kinsey, Gaines Harrison Kinsey, Nathaniel Aaron Kinsey,
Stone Alexander Kinsey, Sean David Kinsey, Kacey Lee Ehrlich, Kyle
Michael Ehrlich, and Kendall Robert Ehrlich; 10 nieces and nephews,
Allen Romig, Gail Rasmussen Brown, Yevette Rasmussen Groover, Paula
Priesmeyer Reese, Rosemond "Cissy" Priesmeyer Curtis, Walter Rasmussen,
Denise Raybon Brodsgaard, Gary Raybon, Lisa Schur; and 16 great nieces
and nephews.
Glyn was preceded in death by his parents Gaines Alford and Velma James
Wright Kinsey of El Campo, Texas.
Visitation will be held at the Bay City Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m.
Saturday, August 5, 2006.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2006 at First Baptist
Church of Bay City with Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment
will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers will be Alan Romig, Gary Raybon, Rex Moore, Mark Goodman,
Woodie Reidel, Bob Allen, and James Sowell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacon Body of First Baptist Church.
Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Bay City for the
playground project.

KOCUREK, PAUL M.
Paul M. Kocurek, 75, of Blessing, TX died September 5, 2002 at his
residence in Blessing. He was born November 3, 1926 in Hillje, TX to the
late Anton and Amelica Rek Kocurek. He was a member of St. Peter’s
Catholic Church, a resident of Blessing for the past 11 years and a
former longtime resident of Palacios.
He also was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy, a
member of Queen Hamlin VFW Post No. 2467, and a member of the Disabled
American Veterans.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Shimek Kocurek of
Blessing; eight sons and six daughters-in-law, Jerome and Jackie Kocurek
of Danbury, TX, David and Rita Kocurek of Palacios, Thomas and Debbi
Kocurek of Lake Jackson, TX, Andrew and Theresa Kocurek of Ashwood, TX,
Richard Kocurek of Richmond, TX, Timothy Kocurek of Holiday, FL, Patrick
and Linda Kocurek of Eugene, OR, and Christopher and Ana Kocurek of
Angleton, TX; four daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Glen Barnett
of Floresville, TX, Margaret and Fred Pena of Castorville, TX, Angelina
and Isidro Castanon of Palacios, TX and Melissa and Mike Brown of
Sweeny, TX; brothers, Jerome Kocurek of LaGrange, TX, Ingot Kocurek of
Pledger, and his twin brother, Peter Kocurek of Palacios; sisters Lydia
Sablatura, and Mary Womack, 39 grandchildren; and 11 great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Antoine and Stanley Kocurek.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday at the Palacios Funeral Home in Palacios,
TX. The funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2002, at St.
Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing, with the Rev. Sam Appiasi
officiating. Interment was followed at the St. Peter’s Catholic
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Gibson, Larry Womack, Mark Shimek, Donald
Sablatura, Carl Fillip, and Gary Kocurek.

Dorothy Gene Shimek
Kocurek, 90, of Palacios, passed away November 12, 2019. She was born in
Hillje, TX to Ignac and Angeline Tannich Shimek.
Dorothy is preceded in
death by her parents; husband Paul and sons David and Richard Kocurek.
She leaves behind her children; daughters Deborah (Glen) Barnett,
Margaret (Fred) Pena, Angelina (Isidro) Castanon, and Melissa (Mike)
Brown; sons Jerome (Jackie) Kocurek, Thomas (Debbi) Kocurek, Andrew
(Theresa) Kocurek, Timothy Kocurek, Patrick (Linda) Kocurek, Christopher
(Ana); daughter-in-law Rita Kocurek, and numerous grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive
friends and relatives 5:30pm-8:00pm Thursday, November 14 at Palacios
Funeral Home. The Rosary will be 7:00pm that evening. Funeral services
are 2:00pm Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in
Palacios. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in
Blessing. Pallbearers are Trent Kocurek, Nathan Kocurek, Kevin Kocurek,
Christopher Kocurek, Nicholas Castanon, Arthur Castanon, Thomas Castanon,
Daniel Castanon and Matthew Brown.

John Wesley Krobot
Funeral services for John Wesley Krobot, 50, of Wadsworth will be
held at 10 am Friday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the
Brother Rod Tate officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial
Park, Van Vleck.
Mr. Krobot was born June 24, 1936, in Boling to Frank and Josephine
Kostelnik Krobot and died May 26, 1987.
A former resident of Bay City, he resided in Wadsworth for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Krobot of Wadsworth; two
sons, John David Krobot of Wadsworth and Richard Neil Krobot of Bay
City, Dorothy Beard of Bay City; two brothers, William F. “Bill”
Krobot of Van Vleck and Irvin F. Krobot of Bay City; and two
granddaughters.
Pallbearers include Sidney Armatt, Rick White, Rick Miller, Glen
McCarthy, Clark Gray and Curtis Dykes.
Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
