Allean Bryant Allean Sidney-Bryant Funeral services for Allean Sidney-Bryant, 75, of Bay City will be 1 p. m. Saturday at Jesus Free Will Holy Temple Church in Bay City with the Bishop J. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane. Visitation hours are until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Sidney-Bryant was born Oct. 25, 1915 in Cedar Lane to Alex C. and Mary Ford Sidney Sr., and died July 17, 1991, at Matagorda General Hospital. She was a resident of Bay City and was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Bryant Sr.; a daughter, Frankie Lee Ward and a son, Hubert Ray Bryant. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy DeVaughn of Houston, Perry Green-Wilkerson and Christeen Seals, both of Bay City; a son, S. L. Bryant of Cedar Lane, three sons-in-law, Johnnie DeVaughn of Houston, Terry Seals of Oklahoma and Arthur Wilkerson of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Floradine Bryant of Cedar Lane; three brothers, Carlos Sidney of Compton, Calif., Alex C. Sidney Jr. of Cedar Lane and Melvin Sidney of Galveston; two sisters, Mauderine Fields and Lonnie Franklin, both of Cedar Lane; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Lawrence Burnett, Phillip Ward, Frank Petteway, Arthur Wilkerson, Alex Sidney III and Dennis Gage. Honorary pallbearers are Johnnie DeVaughn, S. L. Bryant, Terry Seals, Reginald DeVaughn, Carlos Sidney and Melvin Sidney. Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Hubert Ray Bryant Hubert Ray Bryant, the son of Perry Bryant and Allean Sidney Bryant, was born on June 19, 1950 in Matagorda County, Bay City, Texas. He joined Mother Zion Baptist Church at a very early age. He graduated from Hilliard High School in Bay City, Texas. Hubert departed this life on June 23, 1989 in John Sealy Hospital, Galveston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Bryant and one sister, Frankie Lee Ward. Survivors include his wife, Cordelia Diane Bryant of Bay City, Mother, Mrs. Allean Bryant of Bay City, two sons, Kelvin Bryant of Houston, Otis Ray Bryant of Bay City, step-son, Phillip Jesse of Bay City, three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Devaughn of Houston, Mrs. Perry Louise Wilkins and Mrs. Christine Seals of Bay City, one brother, Elder S. L. Bryant of Cedar Lake, three brothers-in-law, Johnnie Devaughn of Houston, Terry Seals of Bay City and Arthur Wilkins of Houston, one sister-in-law, Flora Bryant of Cedar Lake, six nephews, five nieces, three great nieces and two great nephews, three aunts, Mrs. Mauderine Fields and Mrs. Alice Sidney of Cedar Lane, and Mrs. Alice Sidney of Houston, three uncles, Alex Sidney and Rev. E. S. Fields of Cedar Lane, Corlos Sidney of California and a host of other relatives and friends. Perry Bryant On March 2, 1904, a baby boy was born to Mr. & Mrs. Hampton Bryant, whom they named, Perry Bryant. He confessed Christ at an early age. In 1945 he met Allean Sidney and they united in Holy Matrimony on July 7, 1945. To this union four children were born. He was a member of the Timothy Lodge No. 276 for 17 years. He departed this life on August 2, 1979, he leaves to mourn his passing, a devoted wife, Mrs. Allean Bryant, two daughters, Mrs. Perry Bryant Green of Bay City, Mrs. Christine Brown of Katy, two sons, Mr. S. L. Bryant of Cedar Lake, and Mr. Hubert Ray Bryant of Lamar, one step-daughter, Mrs. Dorothy DeVaughn of Houston, one sister, Mrs. Cornelius Randle of Bay City, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Floradine Bryant, 10 grands and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Service: Monday, August 6, 1979, 2:00 P. M., Shiloh Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, Texas, Reverend Harold S. Williams, Pastor. Active Pallbearers: Masonic Brothers Honorary Pallbearers: S. L. Funeral services for Dr. Rayola Brown Cartwright, 78, of Brazoria (formerly of Houston), will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, TX, with Pastor M. A. Riddick, II officiating and Pastor Reginald DeVaughn eulogizing. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane, TX. For many years, Rayola served as an educator and administrator in the Houston Independent School District, where she retired as the Director of Special Education, South Central District. In addition to being a member of various teachers’ associations, Top Ladies of Distinction, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, she also received numerous awards and recognitions throughout her professional career. In her pastime, she enjoyed fishing, shopping, dining and traveling. She is preceded in death by her parents, Enoch and Nellie Brown; sister, Thelma L. Brown Broussard and brother, Felix H. Boone. Rayola leaves precious memories with her sister, Gloria L. Brown of Brazoria; brothers Enoch James Brown, Jr. and Joe Dennis Brown, both of Brazoria; God brothers, Milton Sidney and Calvin Ward; her niece, Dr. Tara Broussard Chandler; her nephews, Attorney Stan Broussard and Enoch James Brown, III, all of Houston and a host of other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Edison, Larry Fields, Bruce Sidney, Johnell Williams, Roy Wayne Johnson and Phillip Ward. Gus Clay Gus Clay Cedar Lake, Tex.—Funeral services for Gus Clay, 93, will be held at 1:30 p. m. Saturday at the Shiloh Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of the Penn Funeral Home of Bay City. Mr. Clay died at 6:45 a. m. Monday in Houston. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lela Law of Galveston, Mrs. Delia Franks of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Lola Mayberry of Houston; two sons, Jimmy Clay of Bay City and Frank Clay of San Antonio; a brother, Joseph Woolsey of Houston; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
