Funeral services for Esther Boston, 81, of Bay City, are scheduled for 3 p. m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 1994, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with the Rev. Murray Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. Saturday at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and from 2 to 3 p. m. Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church.

Mrs. Boston was born June 10, 1913, in Cedar Lane to John Jones and Lovie Spiller Henderson and died Nov. 23, 1994, in Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

She was a resident of Bay City and a member of Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City.

Survivors include a daughter, Gertie C. Edwards of Freeport; two sons, Johnnie Sidney Sr. of Bay City and Leroy Sidney of Cedar Lane; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Melvin Sidney of Galveston and a host of nieces, nephews, many cousins and other relatives and a family of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Boston; her father, John Jones, her mother, Lovie Spiller Henderson; four sisters, Olivia Boone, Bertha Austin, Lawnie Franklin and Willie “Babe” Moseley and two brothers, Buster Sidney and Roscoe Henderson.

Funeral services for Enoch Brown Sr., 81, of Cedar Lane will be held at 1 pm Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with Rev. Carl W. Floyd and Rev. H. T. Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane.  There will be a graveside ceremony by the Gulf Coast Masonic Lodge 272. Visitation will be until 9 pm today at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm at the church.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 1, 1907, in Cedar Lake to Dennis and Lovie James Brown, and died July 9, 1989, in Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston.  He was a resident of Cedar Lane, a member of the Baptist church and Gulf Coast Lodge 272.

 Survivors include his wife, Nellie Spiller Brown of the home; three daughters, Ms. Thelma L. Broussard and Dr. Rayola Cartwrith, both of Houston, and Mrs. Gloria L. Davis of Texas City; three sons, Enoch Brown Jr. of Houston, Joe Dennis Brown of Cedar Lane and Felix Boone Brown of Washington, D. C.; one sister, Mrs. Sophie Sidney of Cedar Lane; one brother, John L. Bonner of Cedar Lake; two uncles, Lee Fletcher of Arcola and Walter Fletcher of Cedar Lake; and two grandchildren, Ms. Tara Danae Broussard and Mast Stanly Bryon Broussard of Houston.

Active pallbearers will be Deacons Donald R. Sidney, Alex Sidney III, Rodgers Thymes, Murry Griggs Jr., Lawrence Burnett Sr. and Dennis Griggs Sr. Rev. Rodney W. Griggs, Calvin Ward and Carl Lee Kemp.

Honorary pallbearers will be Enoch Brown Jr., Joe Dennis Brown, Felix Boone Brown, Stanley Broussard, John L. Boone Sr., Otis Petteway Sr., Dave Young, Rev. Johnny Woodard, Washington Hawkins, R. L. Woodard, Milton Sidney, Deacon Alex Sidney Jr., Lee Fletcher, Walter Fletcher, William “Bill” Smith, Deacon George Marshall Sr., Clifton Davis Sr., Attorney Prince Cartwright Jr., Ira Clements Jr. and Deacon Samuel Green Sr.

Services for John Brown, 66, of Angleton, formerly of Cedar Lane, will be at 1 p. m. Wednesday, April 8 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with Rev. Steven Staten officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p. m. Tuesday, April 7 at the Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria.

Mr. Brown died Friday, April 3 at Matagorda County General Hospital in Bay City. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane and was a Self-Employed Cement Finisher.

He is survived by his mother, Lorena Brown of Cedar Lane; one son, Willie Murray and wife Karen of Brazoria; two brothers, Nelson Brown of Cedar Lane, and Robert Brown, of Galveston; three sisters, Rosie Kemp and husband Chester, and Pinkie Johnson and husband Herman, all of Cedar Lane, and Dorothy Wright with husband Ethan of Brazoria; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Larry Monroe, Darrell Kemp, Don Paige, Allan Brown, George Lemon, Donald Fields, Jesse Gee, and Eugene Johnson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Willie Murray, Nelson Brown, Robert Brown, Ethan Wright, Herman Johnson and Chester Kemp.

Arrangements are with Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria.
