Funeral services for Lula Oliver, 78, of Bay City will be held 1 pm Thursday at Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church with the Rev. Johnnie Mays officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Cedar Lane.

Friends may call this afternoon and tonight at Green’s Mortuary and from noon to 1 pm Thursday at the church.  A wake will be held from 7 to 9 pm today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Oliver was born June 10, 1910, in Texas to Manuel and Exaline Brown and died April 2, 1989, at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City. She was a member of Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Joe Ann Gee and Jerlian Harris of San Antonio; a son, Lawrence Oliver Jr. of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will include members of the family and honorary pallbearers will include the Deacons of Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church.

Arrangements are with Green’s Mortuary, Bay City.

Rev. R. H. Paige [Page]

Funeral services for the Rev. R. H. Paige, 89, of Houston will be held at 2 pm Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Cedar Lane.  Visitation will be from 7 to 9 pm Saturday at Garden Grove Christian Church, Houston. 

Rev. Paige was born July 1, 1897, in Cedar Lane to the Rev. William and Lee Thomas Paige and died March 3, 1987, at his residence.

He was the former pastor of Garden Grove Christian Church, Houston, and a member of the Gulf Coast Lodge 272, Bay City.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Paige of Houston; a daughter, Leola Paige Trahan; a granddaughter, Venita Trahan of Houston; three nieces, Mary Lee Gardenhire of Los Angles, Calif., Melvia Rouce and Phema Woodard of Cedar Lane; three nephews, Donald Paige of Angleton, Matthew Stanford and Louis Paige, both of Galveston; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Thomas Page

Page, Thomas, age 82, passed away in Matagorda General Hospital.  A resident of Cedar Lane, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Izetta Page, Cedar Lane, Cedar Lane; one son, William Donald Page, Galveston; two foster daughters, Mrs. Frankie Caesar and Mrs. Juanita Preston of Bay City; 1 foster son, Albert Jackson of Galveston; and two brothers, the Rev. R. H. Page of Houston and Alex Page of Galveston.  Also, three grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.  Service will be held Saturday, October 2, at 1:00 pm at the Jerusalem Baptist Church, Brazoria, with the Rev. W. B. Brown officiating. Interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Cedar Lane.  The body will lie in state at the Jerusalem Baptist Church Friday night.

She will lie in state 10-11 a.m. Saturday at First Berean Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane.

Funeral services for Linda Sue Parks, 10, of Bay City will be held at St. Mark’s Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, with the Rev. J. J. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Cedar Lane.

Friends may call until 9 pm today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Miss Parks was born July 5, 1978, in Bay City and died June 4, 1989, at Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston.  She was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include her parents, Annett Parks of Bay City and Jim R. Marshall of Cedar Lane, a sister, LaTanya Marshall; four brothers, Clarence Parks, Michael Parks, Jim Marshall Jr. and Joe Nathan Marshall; grandparents, Dorothy Mae Parks of Bay City and Stell Marshall of Cedar Lane; seven aunts and two uncles.

Pallbearers will be family and friends of Miss Parks.  Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of St. Mark’s Baptist Church.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Gone from our sight, but never our memories. . . Gone from our touch, but never our hearts.

It is our pleasure to have you join us at Mother Zion Baptist Church, 2705 Avenue B in Bay City, where our family will gather and celebrate the life of our beloved James "Shakey" Peters, Jr. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001 at noon. The Reverend Remus Wright will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 until 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 in the Rose Chapel of Mabrie Memorial Mortuary and a memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. at the South Post Oak Baptist Church, 13535 South Post Oak, where the family will be present to receive visitors at 6:30 p.m.

Final resting place will be Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane, Texas.

Funeral services for James Peters, Sr., 78, of Texas City, will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Mother Zion Baptist Church, Bay City, with the Rev. K. J. Griggs, pastor and Rev. R. E. Woodard, III, eulogist. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane.

Visitation will be Tuesday until 9 p.m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

He was born in Wadsworth, Texas, Saturday, August 12, 1922, to Arthur Peters and Hannah Dillingham Peters, and passed away Friday, August 25, 2000, at his residence in Texas City.

Survivors include a son, James Peters, Jr. (and Barbara) of Missouri City; two daughters, Carolyn Williams (and Lexie), and Diann Davis, all of Texas City; 11 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Earline, a son, Earl, a sister, Hattie and a brother Sam Peters, Sr.

Active pallbearers will be Seautry Harkless, Jr., Zarak Peters, Sam Peters, Jr., Anthony Smith, Howard Amos and Roy Armelin. Honorary pallbearers will include James Peters, Jr., Willie Taylor, Lexie Williams and Lloyd Lewis.

Funeral services for Amir LeJuan Griggs Player, 14, of Lake Jackson will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church at 401 Yaupon in Lake Jackson with the Rev. James Williams officiating.

Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane.

He died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson.

He was a student at Brazoswood High School and played on the freshman football team.

He was a member of True Honor Baptist Church in Clute.

He is survived by: mother, Cheryl “Snoopy” Griggs, Lake Jackson; father, Craig Player, Beaumont; three brothers, Adrion “Pooka” Griggs, Jermel “Jeda” Griggs, Chaston Player, all of Lake Jackson; three sisters, Shamitra “Mimi” Griggs, Lake Jackson, Jhasmine Player, Bay City, Chasity Player, Angleton; grandmothers, Betty Wiley, Lake Jackson and Betty Sue Johnson, Galveston; grandfathers, Elijah Wiley, Brazoria, Russel Dale, Bay City; great grandmother, Emma Dale, Bay City and a host of other family members and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Dexter Mickens, Calvin Bonner, Travis Williams, Russell “Ro” Bradshaw, Troy Barnes and Robert “Shep” Green.
