Henry Murray Seerden, 89, of Bay City passed away April 23, 1996 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
He was born September 4, 1901 in Matagorda County to Henry Martin and Mary Boyd Seerden. He was a native of Matagorda County, a retired surveyor for Shell Oil with 30 years of service. He was a resident of Bay City the past 25 years where he was doing his ranching. Mr. Seerden was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mason Seerden of Bay City; by two daughters, Barbara Ann Stubblefield of San Antonio and Patsy Huff of Dallas; by three step-children, Pamela Wren of Houston, Michael Bridges, Sr. of Lake Jackson, and Patrick Bridges of Fort Worth; by two grandchildren, Ronald C. Christesson and Cathy Morris both of San Antonio; and by four great grandsons, Matthew Morris, Corey Morris, Chad Christesson, and John Kincaid all of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and three brothers.
A rosary will be recited by Taryn Bridges of Fort Worth at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 1996 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 1996 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth with Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francisville Cemetery in Wadsworth.
Pallbearers include, David Stubblefield, Ronald C. Christesson, Matthew Morris, John Mason, Michael Bridges, Sr., and Patrick Bridges. Memorial may be made to the charity of your choice.

SEERDEN, Lawrence, age 59, passed away in Los Angeles, California on October 5. His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Geraldine Seerden, of Los Angeles, and two sons, Gerald, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and James, of Houston. Also, three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Laird, Wadsworth; Mrs. F. J. Sachnik, Houston; Mrs. Claire Brannen, Long Beach, California; and two brothers, Frank, of Houston, and Murray, of Bay City. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Wadsworth, Wednesday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m. Reverend C. J. Martin will officiate. Interment will be in St. Francisville Cemetery, Wadsworth. Arrangements were made through Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Tom Ottis, Matt Ottis, Fred Ottis, Emil Ottis, Murray Seerden.

The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Seerden, Wadsworth, will be pained to learn of the death of their only child, baby Mary Genevieve, aged 5 months and 7 days, which occurred last Saturday. The death was sudden and unexpected, the little one having been ill only about 24 hours. The tiny remains were interred in the church yard at St. Francisville Sunday, Rev. Fr. Schnetzer conducting the funeral service.

Mrs. Mary Sophie Seerden age 73 years 3 months 2 days passed away at the family residence in Wadsworth Monday 7:35p.m.
Mrs. Seerden has made Wadsworth her home for a good many years having raised her family there. She is survived by her husband, Mrs. H. M. Seerden of Wadsworth; three daughters Mrs. F. J. Sachnik and Mrs. E. R. Laird of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. R. E. Brannen of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Messer Frank & Lawrence Seerden of Houston and Murray Seerden of Hobbs, New Mexico, one sister Miss Bertha Boyd of Port Lavaca; and one brother, Mr. John Boyd of Port Lavaca, Texas.
Funeral services will be from the Sacred Heart Church in Wadsworth, Wednesday 9:00 a.m. with Rev. C. J. Martin officiating. Interment will be in St. Francesville Cemetery. Rosary will be said at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home today at 8:30 p.m. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sophie Seerden, 74, of Wadsworth were held Wednesday at the Wadsworth Sacred Heart Church with Father C. J. Martin officiating.
Mrs. Seerden, resident of Matagorda County for 35 years, is survived by her husband, H. M> Seerden; three daughters, Mrs. F. J. Sachnik and Mrs. E. R. Laird of Houston, and Mrs. R. E. Brannen of San Antonio; three sons, Frank and Lawrence Seerden of Houston, and Murray Seerden of Hobbs, New Mexico; one sister, Bertha Boyd of Port Lavaca, and one brother, John Boyd of Port Lavaca; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Taylor Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was to be at St. Francisville Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Seerden died at her home in Wadsworth Tuesday, January tenth after a long illness. She was born in Port Lavaca Mary Boyd. She came to this county to teach school but in a short time married Henry M. Seerden. They lived together for more than fifty years. Nine children were born to the union six of who survive. She was a member of the Wadsworth Catholic church and a devout christian. She took an active part in all civic work in our community and was a cherished friend of all who knew her. No one will fill her place. The sympathy of our people are with her children and her husband.

Henry Seerden Is Dead in Houston; Services Friday
Henry Martin Seerden of Wadsworth passed away in Houston at the home of his daughter, Mr. E. R. Laird, at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 23. Mr. Seerden was 86 years of age. He is survived by three daughters: Mrs. F. J. Sachnik, Mrs. E. R. Laird, both of Houston, and Mrs. R. E. Brannen of Vacoville, Calif.; also three sons, Frank Seerden, Houston, Murray Seerden, Roswell, N. M., and Lawrence Seerden, Los Angeles, Calif., eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will begin at Taylor Brothers Friday morning at 9:00 o’clock and be continued at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth.
Interment will be in St. Francisville cemetery following the services at Wadsworth.

Funeral services were held Monday morning for Mrs. Pauline Agnes Seerden, 80, who died Saturday. Mass was said at 9 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth, with Rev. C. J. Martin officiating. Interment was at St. Francisville Cemetery.
Rosary was recited at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Seerden is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Elton Legett of Wadsworth.

Funeral services were held this morning at 9 o’clock from the Wadsworth Catholic Church for Mr. William (Uncle Bill) Seerden, 75, who died at the Matagorda General Hospital Tuesday afternoon at 3:20. Rosary was said last night at 8 o’clock. Father C. J. Martin officiated at the services.
Mr. Seerden, a rancher in the community for many years, is survived by his wife, Pauline A. Seerden of Wadsworth; one daughter, Doris A. Leggett, also of Wadsworth; one sister, Mrs. Mary Lidwell of Alice; one brother, H. M. Seerden of Wadsworth.

Mrs. Sherrer Passes Away This Morning
Mrs. Elizabeth Caroline Sherrer, age 80 years, passed away this Friday morning at 6:27 o’clock.
Mrs. Sherrer is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fred Gest and Mrs. Albert Gest, three sons, John Sherrer and Frank Sherrer of Bay City and Thomas Sherrer of Rosenberg. Also she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Gastimeyer of Houston and Mrs. Kate LeCompte of Bay City and 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday from the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rosary will be said Friday at 8:45 p.m. at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Father C. J. Martin will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Francisville Cemetery near Wadsworth, Texas.

Memorial services for Kenneth Lee Sherrer, 68, of Bay City, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 1994, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel in Bay City.
Mr. Sherrer was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Matagorda County to Thomas Lee and Sarah Dickinson Sherrer and died Aug. 17, 1994, at his residence.

Kathleen Ruth Henigan Tatum, 76, of Wadsworth passed away April 25, 1997 at Matagorda House in Bay City.
She was born Jan. 20, 1921 in San Antonio to Claude James and Addie Doss Henigan. She married A. J. Tatum Jan. 4, 1939 in San Antonio when she was secretary for a firm in the Travis Building. A. J. died March 16, 1978 and is buried at St. Francesville Cemetery near Wadsworth. Her family moved to Wadsworth in 1927. She went to school at Wadsworth and Gulf, Texas. She was marker chairman for Matagorda County Historical Commission; Genealogist for the Genealogical Society; member of the Bay City Public Library, member of the Matagorda County Museum, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Talmadge James and Jean Ann Tatum; sister Margarete Bruce of Bay City; grandchildren Kimberly Ann Morton and husband David E. Morton of Wadsworth, Talmadge James “Jim” Tatum, Jr. and wife Christi Tatum of Van Vleck, and A. Jay Tatum of Wadsworth; great grandchildren Craig Guynes, Tamira and Robyn Stone, Brian and A. J. Tatum and step-great grandchildren Michael Lawrence and Trey Long.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth with Msgr. James Brunner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francesville Cemetery near Wadsworth.

Talmadge James Tatum, Sr., 67, of Bay City died January 3, 2007. He was born December 12, 1939 in Bay City to the late A. J. and Kathleen Hennigan Tatum. He and his wife operated Tex-Pak Express in Bay City for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jean Ann Tatum of Bay City; daughter & son-in-law Kimberly Ann and David Morton of Bay City; sons Jim Tatum of Bay City and A. Jay Tatum of Wadsworth; grandchildren Craig Guynes, Dee Guynes, Brian Tatum, A. J. Tatum, Tamira Stone, and Robyn Stone.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2007 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Old Settler Passes On
Mr. Fellic Wasthka, born in Victoria, Texas, in 1869, passed away Monday morning, December 2, 1940, in Galveston at the age of 71. Mr. Wasthka had been totally blind and helpless for some time, and was cared for at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. V. Seerden, with whom he had made his home for several years.
Five weeks before his passing, thinking he might receive better care, he was removed to a sanatorium in Galveston, where he remained until death relived him of his suffering.
The remains were brought overland Monday by Taylor Bros., who made all preparations for burial. Services were held Tuesday morning in the funeral home, with Father Elmendorf, his pastor, of Bay City, officiating. Burial was in Francisville Cemetery, west of Wadsworth.
Mrs. Seerden and family have the sympathy of all Wadsworth friends in their loss.

Funeral services for Ludwig Joseph Zernicek, 65, of Wadsworth will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth with the Rev. Joe Vrana officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francisville Cemetery in Wadsworth.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Zernicek was born Jan. 20, 1925 to Joseph and Mary Zernicek in Sealy and died Jan. 15, 1991, at the V. A. Medical Center in Houston.
A resident of Wadsworth for 43 years, he was a member of VFW Post 2678 in Bay City, a member of the Woodmen of the World and attended Catholic church.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Culver Zernicek of Wadsworth; two daughters, Lillian Wheeler of Glen Rose, Texas, and Theresa McPeak of Jacksonville, N. C.; four sons, Lawrence Zernicek of Bloomsberry, N. J., Michael Zernicek of Wadsworth, Joseph Zernicek of Dayton, Texas, and Anthony Zernicek of Seabrook, Texas; four sisters, Louise Sewered of Dutchmills, Ark., Frances Huggins of Wharton, Josephine Green and Martha Owen of Bay City; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Lawrence Zernicek, Michael Zernicek, Joseph Zernicek, Anthony Zernicek, William Owen and Emil Junior Zernicek.

Lillian G. Zernicek, 88, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 8, 2014. Lillian was born on August 3, 1926 in Old Gulf, Texas to the late Harry Aaron and Freda Behmer Culver.
Lillian was a twin, who’s brother died in WWll. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lillian was one of the founding members of the Memory Makers Quilt Guild which started in 1993 and a member of Wadsworth Homemakers Club, Busy Bee Club and Bay City Homemakers for a Total of 23 years. Lillian was a life time member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 2438, and she was also a Gold Star Sister. She was a life time member of the Woodman of the World. Lillian’s hobby’s were sewing, quilting, cooking, baking and crafts.
Lillian was survived by her children, Michael Zernicek and wife Edith Sanchez, Joseph Zernicek and wife Karen, Theresa Winebrenner and husband Ben, Anthony Zernicek, Lillian Wheeler; 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ludwig, brothers, Edward Culver, Lawrence Culver, Francis Culver; son Ludwig Lawrence Zernicek.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00P.M. Wednesday with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00P.M. at the funeral home. The Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday December 11 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Greg Korenek celebrant. Rite of committal will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Wadsworth. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher McPeak, Michael McPeak, Kent Morris, Chip Morton, Matt Hammond, Clifford Zernicek, Joe V. Zernicek, and Phil Wheeler.
