Jerome Keith Waddy

August 29, 1963 - December 18, 2020

Jerome Keith Waddy, 57 of Pledger passed away on December 18, 2020 from injuries sustained in an automotive accident near Boling Tx. He was born on August 29, 1963 in Bay City, Texas, a son of Robert James Waddy and Vera Mae Williams Waddy. 

Jerome was raised in the Pledger area and graduated Boling High School.  He worked for Dorsett Concrete for many years and at Zarsky Lumber in Wharton. Jerome enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ursula Autrey, and brother, Robert Waddy, III.

Jerome is survived by his daughter, Brittnie Waddy of Pledger, son, Jarrell Waddy-Taylor of Freeport, very special lady in his life, Jada Perry of Bay City, sister, Carolyn Waddy of Pledger, brothers, Carlton Waddy of Wharton, Ronald Waddy of San Antonio, Anthony Waddy of Pledger, and Dietrich Waddy of Pledger, grandchildren, Jaycob Owens, Aaliyah Waddy, Adrianna Waddy, Brianna Autrey, Kenneth Moore, Jr., and Saniyah Autrey.

Visitation will be held on January 2, 2021 from 12 noon till 1 pm. The funeral service will be held privately by the family.

Bill Bartlett Wales

Refugio - Bill Bartlett Wales, Born 8 November 1927 in Wink, Texas, Bill left this earthly world on 21 November 2020 at his home in Refugio, Texas.  We say goodbye to a loving father, mentor and a great humanitarian.  

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife and soul mate of 39 years, Betty Huddleston Wales, and his 2nd wife Jean Richardson Wales of 13 years.

He leaves his 3 children, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; daughter, Charissa Lynn Wales and her son K. Schann Reichart (Amanda) and children Abigail and Kenneth Reichart;  sons, William Bartlett Wales and James Steven Wales and his daughter Jennifer Wales and children Gabrielle Wales-Flores and Emmanuel Carr Jr.

Bill and his family moved to Refugio, Texas in 1932 and attended local schools. Bill graduated from Texas A & M College in 1950 and began working as an architect. He and Betty were married in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from January 1953 through 1955 as a Second Lieutenant and subsequently promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant serving in the Korean conflict. Bill was honorably discharged and was awarded the UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Bill became a registered architect in 1957 and in 1993 he became a registered Interior Designer.  He moved to Corpus Christi in early 1959 to open an architectural office with several commissions. Upon successful completion of his projects he joined forces with his father, B. A. Wales, in operating J&C Drilling Company at which time he moved back to his home town of Refugio and ultimately became the owner of the company.  Bill received several patents on his sub-structure and dog house drilling rig equipment.  

Upon retirement Bill decided to close the business in 1991. Bill joined the Refugio Lions Club and served in various capacities throughout his 51 plus years in his beloved organization. He served as District Governor, District 2S4, and was very active in District and State level capacities. 

Bill was named Texas Lions Camp Life Member in 2000. He received numerous awards including the Lions District Governor Award the Lions International President Appreciation Award and the Melvin Jones Fellowship for Dedicated Humanitarian Services from the Lions International Foundation. 

A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Moore Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p.m. Mass will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2020, Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Emma Alice Walker

Mrs. Emma Alice Walker, relict of the late O. J. Walker, died at the home of her son-in-law, Mrs. A. R. Harrison, in this city, this morning at 3:40 o’clock, after a serious illness of several months.

The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock from the Harrison residence.

Decedent was born in Fayette County on the 6th of November, 1866, and was reared in that county where she married O. J. Walker, now deceased. There were born to this union four children all of whom are living. They are Mrs. A. R. Harrison, Eddie, Russell and Sargent.

Mrs. Walker was a member of the Lutheran Church, a devout Christian and a loving wife and mother. She gathered about her many friends, who will join the Tribune in sympathy for the bereft family.

Otto J. Walker Killed
Decapitated by Train at Gulf Yesterday Afternoon

While in the discharge of his duties as sulphur inspector at Gulf yesterday afternoon Otto J. Walker, a longtime citizen of this county, who, at the time of his death was in the employ of the Texas Gulf Sulphur Co., was run down by a sulphur train and killed, the wheel of a car passing over the lower part of his face and completely severing the head from his body

There was only one witness to the tragedy, a Mexican, who said it was impossible for him to tell how it happened. The engineer did not know that a man had been run over until he saw the body of Mr. Walker being removed from the scene.

The body was brought to the home of Mr. Walker’s son-in-law, Archie R. Harrison, where funeral services will be held this afternoon. The funeral will be in charge of the Herman Sons Lodge of which Mr. Walker was a member.

Decedent had lived in Matagorda County for a number of years and was well and favorably known. For some time he was in charge of the Rugeley plantation on Caney, but ever since last May has been working for the sulphur company. He was 53 years of age.

Surviving are his wife, who is very ill, are his children, Maggie, wife of A. R. Harrison; Eddie, Russell and Sargent.

The Tribune joins the friends of the family in the deepest sympathy in this dark hour of trial and sorrow.

Jo Ann Kasper Wallace

Mrs. Jo Ann Kasper Wallace, 53, of Bay City died at her residence, Tuesday, December 23.  Survivors include; husband, Gordon D. Wallace of Bay City; sisters, Mrs. Pearl Weaver of Bay City, Mrs. Lois Swenson of Orange, Mrs. Aline Vavra of El Maton and Mrs. Mary Crain of Abilene; brothers, Joe Hadley of El Campo, Aubrey Hadley of Collegeport and Alvin Hadley of Midfield.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Saturday, December 27, at 10 am with Rev. Charles Sonnier officiating.  Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Kyle Ward

April 12, 1965 - September 24, 2020

James Kyle Ward, 55, of Bay City passed away September 24, 2020. He was born April 12, 1965 in San Antonio, Texas to James Olen Ward and Shirley Rose Weldon Ward.

He is preceded in death by his father and his grandmother, Della Ward.

Survivors include his mother; brother Lane Ward & wife Kimberly; nephews Lane Ward Jr. & wife Maria, and Joseph Ward; special cousin Lynnis Burt & husband John; best friend Jesse Gonzalez; and a host of other family and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Jesse Gonzalez, Keith Martin, and Lynnis Burt for the extra care they gave to Kyle.

Kyle will be cremated, no services are planned at this time.

Harvey Enoch Wallace, Jr.

July 11, 1966 - May 01, 2021

Harvey Enoch Wallace, Jr., 54, of Bay City passed away May 1, 2021.  He was born July 11, 1966 in Sweeny, TX.

Harvey was a 1984 graduate of Bay City High School. He worked for many years in maintenance and groundskeeping, most noteably at his father's full-service gas station in Bay City, the Matagorda County Blimp Site, and Mad Island Preserve. He enjoyed sports, both playing and watching, and loved playing in the local softball league on the Rebels with his brother Shane and many of their friends including Joey Frost, John Sabrsula, David Harrison, Israel Garcia, and many others.

He was very strong in his faith and loved serving the Lord, including teaching Sunday school classes with his wife Sherri, the church van ministry, Bible studies, being an adamant prayer warrior for anyone and everyone who needed it, and telling as many people as he could about God. He loved spending time with family and friends however possible. He was a friend to everyone, and loved by many.  He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri Lynn Sutton Wallace; his mother Judy Carol Dulaney; his father Harvey Wallace, Sr.; his sons Jeremy Wallace and wife Kayla, Travis Wallace and wife Katie, Chad Wallace, Trevor Wallace and Dakota Wallace; his brothers Shane Wallace and Montana Wallace; grandchildren Klara, Carter, Emily and Wyatt Wallace and niece Cortney Carlock & fiancé Sadie Garcia Alanis and their children Mia, Maddison, Colton, and Skylar. He is also survived by his loyal companions Lil Bit, Buddy, Luna, and Star.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the First Church in Bay City.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM with Dr. Marvin Moore and Rev. Danny Aber officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy, Travis, Chad, Trevor, Dakota and Shane Wallace, Kirk Kirkland, James Morrow and Brian Kirkland.

Lenore Merle Watts

Memorial services for Lenore Merle Watts will be held at 3 P. M. on Friday, June 23, 1995 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Haskell and Rev. J. D. O’Donnell officiating. Family services were held in Crossfield, Tennessee on June 17.

Mrs. Watts was born in Bay City on February 19, 1935 to Harold and Nina Kress Erixon and died on Friday, June 16, 1995 at her home in Crossfield. She had been a resident of Matagorda County for most of her life and was employed by Runnells-Pierce Ranch for 13 years.

Survivors include her husband, James E. Watts, of Crossfield, a daughter, Jacqueline Watts, of Tallahassee, Florida, a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Wayne and Leta Watts, of Houston, TX, two grandsons, Victor and James Wayne Watts, of Houston, two sisters and a brother, Lois Fitch, Betty Lou Nelson, and Harold Erixon, all of Crossfield.

Jean Weeks
February 07, 1934 - May 06, 2021

Elda Jean Weeks, 87, of Bay City, TX passed away May 6, 2021. She was born February 7, 1934 in Lamesa, TX to Loys Ernest and Reta Sealy Randolph.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Robert Preston Weeks and daughter Melissa (Lisa) Krenek. She is survived by daughter Christy Hauser and husband Gary; son Bret Weeks and wife Shelly; sister June Weeks and husband Derb, and brother Clay Randolph and wife Judy; grandchildren, Leslie Stange and husband Scott, Laurie Medina and husband Andrew, Jessica Krenek-Woolsey, Chelsie Krobot and husband Kyle, Shaun Hauser and wife Liz, Chase Hauser and wife Kate, Holly Weeks and Brittany Weeks, and great-grandchildren Camryn Stange, Preston Hauser, John Hauser, Lottie Woolsey, Luke Woolsey, Emma Medina, Michael Medina, Logan Hauser, Hannah Hauser, Piper Krobot , Cooper Krobot and Brynlee Ashcraft.

Norbert R. “Butch” Weeks
September 1, 1942 - January 19, 2021

Norbert R. “Butch” Weeks of Sargent, Texas passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021 at the age of 78. He was born September 1, 1942 to Ralph Norbert and Marion Collins Weeks of Magnolia Springs, Alabama.

Butch was a good man. He sincerely cared for his family, friends, and his extended family of brothers and sisters he served with over the many years in the United States Air Force. He was a “Bull.” He could pick up more, move more, and work harder than any three men. He was always there to help no matter what the project and it didn’t matter if it was a friend or a stranger. Butch jumped right in there and got the job done.

Butch is preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Christine Byrd Weeks; his parents; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Hance; brother, Jimmy Weeks; and sister, Ann Weeks;

He is survived by brothers, Tommy Weeks and Johnny (Susie) Weeks; stepson, Jerry Hance; grandchildren, Rodney (Misty) Mills and Lana Mills Ham and Tim Emery; great grandchildren, Athena, Aeres and Athen Ham and Kaylee Kelly.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on February 6, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Foley, Alabama. Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery.

William Gus Whatley Jr.

On Monday, November 16, 2020 William Gus Whatley Jr. aka “Bubba” passed away at the age of 59 in a Houston, Texas medical facility.

Born in Orleans Parish to William (Tony) and Delores Whatley, Bubba attended school in Sweeny, Texas. After graduating from high school, Bubba worked many years as a contractor for Dow chemical. He worked overseas also as a contractor for four years.  After returning to Texas, he obtained his CDL license and traveled the states driving a truck.  At the time of his death, he was driving a truck for Aqua-Zyme.

Bubba enjoyed fishing, crabbing, working on cars and watching his grandkids grow. He was always willing to help anyone and had a very caring soul.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William (Tony) and Delores Whatley.

He is survived by his sons, William III (Amanda), Matt (Ashley), and daughter Ashley Wilkinson; grandkids, William IV, Lilly, Abigail, Cameron, Michael, Summer, Leland, Stormie and Hailey Wilkinson; siblings, Toni Mae, Rhonda, Donna and Walter.

A Memorial service will be Saturday, November 28, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Van Vleck, Texas at 1 p.m.

Timothy Charles Wheaton

A memorial service for Timothy Charles Wheaton, 64, previously of Midfield, will be held at 1 p. m. on Feb. 15 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios, followed by a gathering to remember Timothy at the Blessing Community Center. The interment of his ashes will be located at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas and at Wheaton Cemetery in Cohocton, New York.

Timothy was born to Rodney McClaren Wheaton and Ruth Harriet Cole Wheaton in Canandaigua, New York and he passed away on January 21, 2020 in Webster, Texas.

Timothy served in the U. S. Army from 1976 - 1979 and his permanent station was at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He was promoted to Sergeant, E-5 and worked as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator in the Motor Pool for Battery C, 2d Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery. He grew up in Cohocton and Naples, New York and graduated from Naples Central School in 1974 and just recently attended his 45th class reunion.

He is survived by: one child, Jason Charles Wheaton; three sisters, Karen Alvord, Kietha Robertson and Kathleen Wheaton; three brothers, Gene Wheaton, John Wheaton and Dana Wheaton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society directly or through Jason Wheaton to be donated in the name of Timothy Wheaton.

Elmer Howard Whisenant

May 28, 1939 – November 20, 2020

Elmer Howard Whisenant, Sr. died suddenly of a heart-attack at his home in Matagorda Texas on the morning of November 20, 2020. He was born May 28, 1939 in Mansfield, Texas to the late Marvin Whisenant, Sr., and Clorie Lestie Logan.

Before retiring in Matagorda, Elmer was a lifelong resident of the Mansfield/Rendon area, where he built the house that he and his wife shared to the extent of unearthing and hauling the very rock he used.  Elmer was a brilliant craftsman and also possessed exceptional ingenuity for the workings of motors and machines.  Elmer had a true passion for fishing and took great pride in his riverfront property in Matagorda where he hand crafted the perfect floating dock and cabin; his "home away from home" as he always called it.  Elmer dedicated his life to caring for his wife, children, and grandchildren through his unconditional love and kind words of support. He helped many a friend through trials, and didn't turn his back on a stranger.  Elmer is reunited in heaven with his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Martha Ann Smith. 

Elmer leaves behind his son, Elmer Howard Jr. and daughter, Darla. He will also be missed by his four grand-daughters Janey, Kara, Heidi and Keli, and his grandson Brad, and by his sixteen great-grandchildren, along with multiple nieces, nephews and friends. Elmer is survived by his sisters Opal and Betty,  S-I-L, Nancy Ryan and husband, Buddy, his B-I-L Clyde Smith and wife Becky, S-I-L and partner in grief, Kay Whisenant, and his canine companion, Mindy.

Elmer's funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Friday 11-27-20 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, 2313 Ave I in Bay City, Texas followed by a graveside tribute and burial in the historic Matagorda Cemetery.

Betty Jo White

Betty Jo White, 87, of Port Lavaca, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 in Victoria, Texas.

She was born March 31, 1933 in El Campo, Texas, to Elbert Raymond and Ruby Mae Green Glenn.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Earl White and daughters, Glenda White Crain and Tina Kampfhrkl.

June 08, 1958 - July 15, 2020

Mary A. White, 62, of Bay City passed away July 15, 2020. She was born June 8, 1958 in Fort Worth, TX to the late Elbert Gatlin and Patsy Brumley Gatlin. 

Survivors include her husband James H. “Jim” White of Bay City; daughter Patsy Plotner of Bay City; sons Jerry Plotner of Fort Worth and Brandon Plotner of Carrollton, TX; daughters-in-law Sabrina Plotner of Bay City, Wendy Plotner of Fort Worth and Shelby Plotner of Carrollton; step-daughters Sheila Teal and Heather Stults both of Fort Worth; sister Edith Gatlin of Fort Worth; brothers Albert Gatlin, Donnie Gatlin, Danny Gatlin and William Gatlin all of Fort Worth; 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sarah Elvira “Sallie” Thomas Whitney

The many Palacios friends of Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Whitney will be much grieved to hear of the death of Mrs. Whitney which occurred at their old home at Arcola, Ills., last Wednesday, the 10th inst., the funeral services being held the next day at the Christian church at Arcola. Mr. and Mrs. Whitney were residents of Palacios for over two years, Mr. Whitney being engaged in the mercantile business. They were among the best known and most esteemed citizens of our city, and held the sincere friendship of all our people, to whom the news of Mrs. Whitney’s demise will come as a real sorrow, and who sympathize deeply with Mr. Whitney in his sad bereavement.

Harry LaTroy Widemon

October 17, 19565 – August 31, 2020

Harry LaTroy Widemon, 57, of Bay City, Texas, peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, August 31, 2020 in Bay City.

He was born in Bay City, Texas on Sunday, October 17, 1965, the son of Elgin Widemon Sr. and Mary Louise Dyke Widemon.

Viewing and guest book registry will be open Friday, September 11, 2020 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Graveside services and burial will be on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Bay City.

Dorothy Frances Williams Wilbeck
June 8, 1938 – January 9, 2020

Dorothy Frances Wilbeck, Daughter of late John T and Mary E Williams was born June 8, 1938 in Angleton, Texas. She attended public school in Angleton and later graduated from St. Thomas University in Houston, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Dorothy’s life was centered around service to God and others as she was a dedicated Catholic and active member of her community.

Dorothy was joined in holy matrimony to John Wilbeck in January of 1962. The two were blessed with 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren and others she considered her own. She was surrounded by this loving group when she passed on to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 9th in Angleton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her Father, John and Mother, Mary Williams, Brothers John and Gilbert, and Sisters Mary and Amy.   

Dorothy was a loving care giver to more than 150 foster children from 1967 to the day she passed. She believed children are gifts from God and she worked to protect and nurture all she came to know. Dorothy was instrumental in the creation of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School in Richwood, Texas where all her grandchildren attended as well as hundreds of local children who came to know God in a deeper sense. Dorothy was honored by several organizations because of her hard work and dedicated heart. Some of these honors include Citizen of the Year 1979 by the Guntersville Pilot Club, Humanitarian Award 1990 by the Angleton Knights of Columbus, and The Distinguished Alumni Award from St. Thomas University in 1996 to name a few.     

As a descendant of Stephen F Austin’s Old 300, Dorothy was a dedicated member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and worked tirelessly for many years to maintain the Stephen F Austin statue site as well as bring Texas History alive to hundreds of school children in the area.

Later in life she began working in the Prison Ministry and modeled God's love and mercy to the women she came to know and love. 
        
Dorothy’s legacy of love will forever be cherished by her Husband of 57 years, John Wilbeck. Dorothy “momma” is deeply missed by her children and their spouses, who she counted as her own, Mary and Patrick Soisson, Martha and Rick Eighme, Margaret and Harland Hoppock, Chris Wilbeck, and Tom and Vicky Wilbeck and Deon and Deshaun Alexander. Dorothy “Mimi” will forever be a guiding force in the lives of her grandchildren Katherine and Elizabeth Soisson, Mary Frances and spouse Stephen Williams, Hunter and spouse Lizzette Eighme, Kaitlin Eighme, Zach and spouse Melanie Eighme, Colton Meadows, Hannah Meadows, Gabe and Michael Hoppock, Christen and Kate Wilbeck, Sarah Wilson, Rachel Vicente, Ashley Collins, Josh and Abby Wilbeck as well as her great grandchildren Ellie Grace and Emmi Lou Williams. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Joe Williams, Sister, Bobbye Peltier, and sister, Cecilia Seibert as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James Mabery Wilburn

August 18, 1938 - October 29, 2020

James Mabery “Bubba” Wilburn, 82, passed away October 29, 2020 at his home in Bay City, Texas. He was born August 18, 1938 to Laveta and Mabery George “Sonny” Wilburn in Channelview, Texas.

Bubba graduated Deer Park High School in 1956. He joined the Army and was a Lineman with International Brotherhood Electrical Workers (IBEW) for over 25 years.  After IBEW, Bubba and June managed the Matagorda Dunes Condos for 10 years.

Bubba lived life doing the things he enjoyed with the people he cared for. He experienced numerous adventures across several continents, creating relationships and strengthening bonds. Friends became Family. Things were simple for Bubba, the quintessential Texan. If you mentioned you wanted or needed something, amazingly a few days later it would appear. Bubba chose to lead a private life that revealed dedication to community and fellowship, in which he experienced personal growth, shared stubbornness, humor, regret, love, and respect. 

Bubba is survived by Life Partner, June Dudley; son Donald; brother Norvel; sister Laveta Annette; and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents along with his brother, George, and son, Ronnie.  

The family wishes to express their thanks to those at Angel Care Hospice and At Your Side Home Care that assisted Bubba over the last few weeks as well as the numerous family and friends that visited with him.

Betty Ramsey Wier
January 28, 1943 - January 22, 2021

Betty Ramsey Wier of El Campo passed away January 22, 2021 at the age of 77. She was born at home in Palacios to the late Merle and Elizabeth Sells Ramsey on January 28, 1943. Betty married Gene “PeeWee” Wier in April of 1962 and they made their home in El Campo. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, Prayer Blanket Ministry, ACTS Community, and Xi Mu Chi sorority.

Betty had many accomplishments in her life, especially with crafting. She could make anything and decorate everything. She was co-owner of several businesses over the years including Crafty Corner, Pat Walkers and Creations Etc. with Hazel Foltyn where they decorated many weddings over their 25 years in business. She later opened up Cherie’s Treasures and More Resale Shop.

She loved supporting El Campo High School Sports along with PeeWee and Cherie. Her favorite of all was the baseball games. She loved to help decorate for the Sports Banquets and Project Graduation.

Her best quality was being a Special Mother to Cherie. She devoted her life to care for Cherie. She was truly a wonderful wife and mom.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gene “PeeWee” Wier; daughters Cherie Wier and Kim Denton; grandson Stephen Denton, all of El Campo; sister Mary Pennington of Houston, Linda Curtis & husband Andy of Palacios; nieces Julie Pennington of Reno, Sandy Pennington-Pett and husband Dan of Round Rock, Tess Smith and husband Austin of Markham; nephew Hudson Bate & wife Mandy of Palacios; and five great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Debbie Ramsey; brothers in law Edward Pennington and Hudson Bates, Jr.

Visitation will be 4 pm to 7 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Triska Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be 10 am Thursday, January 28, 2021, at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Divine Mercy Chaplet being recited at 9:30 am. Rev Michael Rother is officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Serving as Pallbearers are Kim Denton, Stephen Denton, Hudson Bates, Craig Terrell, Dickie Ellis and Novell Sells. Honorary Bearers are Cherie Wier, Linda Curtis, Mary Pennington, Tess Smith, Julie Pennington, Sandy Petty and David Poor.

Bernice Andrews Williams, 85, of Bay City, Texas passed away on March 11, 2020 in Sugar Land, Texas.

She was born in Van Vleck, Texas on June 15, 1934 to Robert “Bob” Andrews Sr. and Carrie Tellison Andrews.

Funeral services for Clarence Williams Sr., 86, of Cedar Lake, Texas will be Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Mims Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

He passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his residence.

He was a former Usher at Bethlehem Christian Church. He retired from the plant after many years of working as a Construction Foreman. He loved barbecuing, fishing and working. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, sons, Clarence Williams Jr. (Veronis) of Houston, Howard E. Williams, and Richard L. Williams both of Cedar Lake, Melvin Williams (Linda) of Brazoria, Rev. Alvin R. Williams (Brenda), and Timothy W. Williams (Arnell) both of Angleton; daughters, Olivia M. Williams-Freeman of Cedar Lake and Alma M. Prince (Jerry), DeSoto; sisters, Rosie Green of Cedar Lane, Betty Lou Herring of Brazoria, Dennie Jones of Sweeny and Martha Brown of Danciger; brothers, Webster Williams Jr. (Pat) of Cedar Lane; good friend, Robert L. Jack E. Williams

April 06, 1936 - June 29, 2021

Jack Edward Williams, at the age of 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 29, 2021. He was born on April 6, 1936, to Claud Stuard Williams and Lulu Etta Schaffer Williams.

He attended Bay City High School and Van Vleck High School. He was in the Navy for four years, then worked construction for a while before joining the Bay City Police Department under Barney Mason who was the Chief of Police at the time. He met the love of his life, Sally V. Fisher, and they were married March 3, 1966. He decided to leave the police department to begin learning the dry-cleaning business from Mr. Leroy Franz. Jack and Sally worked there for many years and over time they became the owners of Franz Cleaners, until they retired in 2007. He was a hardworking, active man that enjoyed life. He loved supporting his children’s many sport activities, loved to go fishing, especially with his best friend, who he considered his brother, Raymond Cox. He loved watching the grandchildren’s activities and cheering them on. If you ever met him, you would know that he loved to tell all kinds of stories from his life experiences and spoke his mind.

He is preceded in death by his mother Lulu Etta Williams, his father Claud Stuard Williams, his stepfather Albert Wayman Callaway, his sisters Wanda Davis, Barbara Bee Green, Barbara Callaway Stovall, Marolyn Callaway Cross and Carolyn Callaway Ryman and brothers Bruce Callaway and Raymond Cox.

He is survived by his wife Sally Williams, daughter Jackie Williams, sons Shaun Fisher (wife Teresa), Blake Fisher (wife Gina), grandchildren Michael Fisher, Kelsey Fisher, Peyton Fisher and Zack Saucier (wife Ashlyn), great grandchildren Brenna and Graham Saucier, a loving sister Judy Cox and Laverne Stevens, his aunt.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Angels Care Hospice, in Bay City, for the love and care that was given to them during this time.

Jonathon “Jon” Michael Willy

July 12, 1982 - February 11, 2021

Jonathon “Jon” Michael Willy, 38, was born on July 12, 1982 in Freeport, TX to Joanna Berry and Mark Willy. Jon passed quietly on February 11, 2021 at his home in Selkirk Island, Matagorda, TX.

Jon loved fishing, kayaking, hiking, exploring the hill country and his girls, Abigail and Remedy Blu. He loved his Lord and Savior and never missed an opportunity share his faith. Jon was a Christian, singer, musician, avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He had a gift for growing things, especially roses. He would pick and give them away to lift a heart every chance he could, as this would make his day. He will be loved and forever missed.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marlene and Cooter Danford, “Jimmy”  Tuggle and Frederick and Vera Lee Willy; uncle, Carl Berry; best friend, Al Bonds and his Rottie, Abby.

Jon is survived by his parents, Joanna Berry, Mark Honea and Shannon and Mark Willy; grandparents, Charles and Jeanette Berry and Sanda Tuggle; siblings, Nicholas Willy, Mason Willy, Jordan Willy, Callie Darling, James Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Thomas Anderson and Kim Honea Dodson; niece, Alexis Willy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is also survived by Remedy Blu, his Rottie Girl, who will now be taken care of by his friend, Chelsea Doyle.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 1 p.m. followed by the service at 2 p.m. Both are being held at the First Baptist Church of Shady Acres in Brazoria, TX.

Pallbearers are Joey Bender, Eric Jacobson, Arthur Khan, Larry Thompson, Charlie Jones and Kevin Anderson.

There will be a memorial scattering of his ashes in Martindale, TX at Jon’s beloved San Marcos River. Date and time to be posted at a later time.

Roger Dale Wilson, 73, of Bay City passed away December 12, 2020. He was born October 15, 1947 in Terrell, TX to the late Raymond Wilson and Faye Kilgo Wilson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Robert Dale Wilson, one brother Wayne Wilson, one sister Debra Nalley and brother-in-law Wilbert Billeau.

Carlton Eugene Winters, 79, of Van Vleck, Texas passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 in Bay City, Texas.

Carlton was born in Markham, Texas on May 30, 1941 to the late Billington Taylor Winters and Florentine Jungman Winters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Winters; and daughter, Erin King.

Carlton is survived by his wife, Kay Bump Winters, daughters, Stacy Winters, Constance Cunningham; son, Eli King (Joy); grandchildren, Brittainy Hodges (Jarred), Brandon Gavranovic (Megan), Brian Gavranovic (Cheyenne), and Megan and Mekynna King; three great grandchildren, Autumn Vaughn, Jameson Hodges and Kimverly Ann Gavranovic.

Joan loved reading, bird watching and cooking. She also loved technology and learning the computer.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Neal Wood.

Valerie Woodard, 69, of Bay City, Texas, formerly of Cedar Lake, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Bay City.  She was born on September 2, 1951 to Addie Clara Mack and Anderson Williams (deceased).  She worked for the William Tri-County Head Start for many years where she loved to teach and work with the kids.  Val went home to be with the Lord where she was reunited with many loved ones, but most especially, her son Danny. 

Val leaves to cherish her memories, mother, Addie Smith; daughter, Johnesha Thomas; grand-daughter, Samantha; grandson, Phoenix; step-father, George Woodard Jr.; twelve (12) sisters, Velia Smith, Uvon Jackson (Robert), Maudester Woodard-Hall (Michael), Avon Williams, Theresa Williams, Opal Williams (Earnest), Trina Paige (Gary), Cheryl Woodard (Marvin), Patricia Williams, Flora Williams, Gloria Williams, Annette Williams; four (4) brothers, Ronnie Woodard, George Woodard III (Joyce), Edwin Williams (Dee) and Rev.
