Helen J. Wagner, 78, passed away November 5, 2017. She was born March 4, 1939 in North Chicago, Illinois to Mary [Chimle] and John Shebenik, who bore five daughters and five sons. Helen graduated North Chicago High School, Class of 1957. She met and married William [Bill] Wagner in North Chicago, IL in 1959 while Bill was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Station. Soon after they married, Bill was sent to the Navy’s “Home of the Submarine Force” in New London, Connecticut, where three of their children were born. Relocation to South Carolina yielded the birth of their last child. Following Bill’s discharge from the Navy, Helen and Bill settled in Kewaunee, WI from 1970 to 1983. They left Wisconsin for the opportunity to move to Bay City, Texas where their youngest child graduated from Bay City High School. Helen spent the years from 1983 to 2014 in Bay City, volunteering with various charity organizations including the Bay City Ladies Lions Club, Friends of the Bay City Library and Bay City VFW Post 2438. In 2012, Bill passed away at Matagorda General Hospital. In 2014, Helen moved to Kingwood, Texas to be closer to her family. Helen was preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 51 years; daughter, Jennifer Holm Nicholson; her sister, Delores Gedvilas. She is survived by her children, Chris Wagner and spouse Mona Wagner of Michigan, Terry Wagner and his wife Daphne Ryder Wagner of Kingwood, , and her daughter, Victoria Wagner and her husband Gary Harper of Liberty; her grandchildren, Robert Wagner and his wife Ashley Wagner of League City, Clarissa Wagner of Kingwood; Nick Wagner and Adam Wagner of Michigan, Dana Holm, Jacob Kirstein, Matthew Kirstein and Nikolas Kirstein of Arizona; her sisters, Laurie Stanerson, Lucy Jurgaitis, Mary Ann Krolak; her brothers, John Shebenik, Ed Shebenik, Tony Shebenik, Jimmy Shebenik and Steven Shebenik; and numerous nieces and nephews. In order to accommodate family members traveling long distances, Memorial services will be held at Houston National Cemetery Chapel in the Spring of 2018. Interment will follow at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Dorothy Lee Walls, 84, of Palacios, passed away on November 29, 2017. She was born on March 16, 1933 in Palacios, Texas to Joe and Katie Banyansco Zaro. Dorothy was a mother-figure to many people in Palacios. She loved riding her bicycle and will be greatly missed. Dorothy is survived by her son Curtis Walls; sister Mary Jane Walls and brother Jesse James Zaro. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Marion Curtis Walls; her son Merlin Tex Walls; sister Annie Marie Zaro; brothers Joe Zaro and Nick Zaro and her great-grandson Sunny Rodriguez Walls. Fletcher Stephens “Steve” Walters Jr. of Highlands Ranch, Colorado passed away April 28, 2017 peacefully in his sleep, at age 94. Steve was born on October 1, 1922 to the late Fletcher Stephens Walters Sr. and Floy Virginia Carter Walters in Little Rock, Arkansas. Steve grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas and graduated from Texarkana AR High School in 1940. He spent one year at Texarkana Jr. College, then went to Rice University; his college years were interrupted by WW II, in 1943, when he joined the Naval Air Corps and became a flight instructor. After the War he finished his Pre-med B.A. degree at Rice and subsequent post graduate work in Business Administration at the University of Texas and University of Colorado. In 1949 Steve became an Administrative resident at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. He became the Administrator and CEO of the Hospital from 1951 to 1974. He met his wife, Frances Lee Springer at Northwest Texas Hospital, where she was the Director of Nurses. They were married for 45 years until her death in 1995. Steve was very active in the Texas Hospital Association serving as President of the THA from 1959-1960. In 1990 Steve was awarded the Earl M. Collier Award for Distinguished Health Care Administration, which is the highest honor bestowed by the Texas Hospital Association. He was appointed to the Texas Retirement board in 1967 by Governor John Connolly. He was the first hospital administrator to build a County Owned Psychiatric hospital. Steve was one of the only non-doctors to be awarded the honor of a Chair from Texas Tech Medical School for his help expanding their program. One of his last projects was to help design the Amarillo Medical Center. In 1974 he moved to Bay City, Texas to run the Matagorda County Hospital District until he retired. While living in Bay City, Steve enjoyed sailing and photography. He was also active in civic activities including Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. Steve married Anna Lee Haring in 1995, and she died in 2006. Steve moved to Highlands Ranch Colorado in 2007, into Wind Crest where he made many friends. He played cornet in a jazz band at Rice and played in the Wind Crest Band. He taught opera appreciation at Wind Crest as well. Steve was also an author, writing a book titled “Toxic Babies” which was written to address the effect of violence on pregnant women and their babies. Steve is survived by his sister, Betty Jo Walters Grace of Texarkana, AK; her son, Otis Lumpkin and his wife Alane Hall of Dallas, TX; and her daughter, Dr. Libby Lumpkin and her husband Dave Hickey of Albuquerque, NM. Steve is also survived by his three children, Virginia Lee Fickman, Fletcher Stephens Walters III, and John Carter Walters. Virginia Fickman and her husband Bruce Fickman of Pittsburg, PA, and their children, Jason Fickman of Dallas, TX, Erin McNabb and her husband Jared McNabb, and their son, Pierce of Houston, TX, and Mark Fickman of Pittsburg, PA. Fletcher Stephens Walters III and his wife Lou Walters of Littleton, CO and their children, Emily Brisnehan and her husband Bradley Brisnehan and daughter Margot of Littleton, CO, Scott Walters with Morgan Zimmerman and their son Logan of Littleton, CO, Melissa Walters of Littleton, CO; John Walters and his wife Eugenie Edmonds of Austin, TX and their daughter, Sarah Walters of Austin, TX. Steve had a step-son, Lee Haring of Bellarie, TX; and two step-grandchildren, Zacary and Robert Haring of Bay City, TX. Steve and Frances had many good friends. Joe and Mary Ann Peacock were very special friends who both have passed away, however they are survived by their children who have been as close to Steve as his own children, Dr. Elizabeth Peacock and her husband Barrett Karr and daughter, Lara Karr of Austin, TX; Dr. Joel Peacock and his wife Dr. Lesley LeFevre and their children, Daniel Peacock and Jordan Peacock of Centennial, CO. Mary Magdalene “Maggie” Litzler Weathers, 95, of Cedar Lane, Texas passed away on August 26, 2017 in Bay City, Texas. She was born on May 11, 1922 in Tavener, Texas to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Miller) Litzler. Being the only girl, she had eleven brothers, Martin, James, Willie John, Herman, Anton, Frank, Samuel, Milton, JB, Ernest, and Andrew Litzler. Maggie graduated from Boling High School. On February 26, 1949 she married Ben Weathers of Cedar Lane. They resided in Cedar Lane their entire married life and to this union five children were born. Maggie was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Seldom did she miss and we are thankful of the Christian home and teachings. Also, she was very active in the Cedar Lane Home Demonstration Club. Maggie loved to sew and on many occasions made her four daughters matching dresses. She was never idle, always busy cooking, gardening, growing ivies, canning, shelling pecans, and making her special Christmas divinity. In her later years, she picked up sewing baby doll clothes for her granddaughters, and quilt tops for her family and church family. Mom always had a hot meal ready for us to eat, her chicken and drop dumplings were amazing. Her children have fond memories of getting off the school bus and smelling the homemade rolls ready to come out of the oven and served with her dewberry jelly. She is survived by her daughters, Bennie Lewis of Bay City, TX; Bobbie Anderson and husband James of Pearland, TX; Billie Rosenbaum and husband Ben of Columbus, TX; Bettie Granberry and husband Kelsey of Bay City, TX; and son Barry Weathers and wife Laurie of Bay City, TX; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Jason Lewis and his daughter Paige; Tammy Lewis Smith and husband Trey and their daughter, Adeline; Brian Lewis and wife Robbi and their children, Noah, Jaidyn, Chase and Hailey; Alicia Anderson Saldivar and husband Joe and their children, Grace and Hunter; Amy Anderson Moss and husband Terek and their children, Kayden and Landon; Jennifer Weathers and fiancé Gino Vaiani and her son Brayden; Blake Rosenbaum and wife Charity and their sons, Rhett and Brock; and Jerrica Weathers and her daughter Kynlee; 1 great great grandson, Nathan Rockett; one sister-in-law, Wilma Litzler of Fort Worth, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. James Leeland “Jim” Weaver, 74, of Sargent, TX passed away on August 20, 2017. He was born on August 27, 1942 in Edna, Texas to the late Jerry Thomas and Mavis Dehay Weaver. Jim retired from Celanese after 32 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved life. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Nettie Hahn Weaver of Sargent; sons Toby Weaver of Bay City, Texas, and Kevin Weaver of Katy, Texas; ; sister Geraldine Gregory; grandchildren Joseph Weaver, and Kirsten Sammons and husband Jon; great-grandchildren Lydia Weaver, Creed & Henry Sammons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Eddie Roy Williams, Jr. was born to Maggie Marie Spann-Sardinea and Joseph Williams on July 27, 1976 in Bay City, Texas. He was affectionately known as "Joe Jr." His smile, wit and laughter made him a remarkable person and he was famous for all of the theatrics in his story telling. Joe enjoyed working out, cutting hair and spending time with his family. In his early years, he attended school in Bay City and later Palacios. He lived in Los Angeles, California and has traveled to various places. He accepted the Lord as his Personal Savior at a young age. He was proceeded in death by both his mother and father. He leaves to mourn his children, Gary J. Edison, Romeo E. Williams, Treyson J. Wilson, Eddie Roy Williams, III, Princess Elio' Williams, Ma'Chai D. Williams, Josiah A. John C. "Johnny" Williams Jr. died Thursday August 24, 2017, at Hospice Hospital, Houston, Texas. He was born December 16, 1952 to John C. Williams Sr. and Bernice Kain Dodd. Johnny was born, raised, and resided in Bay City, Texas. Johnny was well loved by many and will be missed dearly. May he rest in peace. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepdad, Albert A. Dodd Jr.; and brother, Ronald Dale Dodd. Kelly R. Winters was born 12 March 1973 and passed away 24 August 2017. Her passing was sudden and unexpected. She is survived by her husband David Winters, mother Gwen Pennington both of Bay City and father Robert Pennington of Dallas TX. Kelly obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M university in 1996 and worked for Dow Chemical Company for the last 20 years specializing in Global Supply Chain Management. Kelly enjoyed working in her yard, tending her gardens, spending time with her family and dog and searching out new recipes for her husband to cook. Kelly was a loving wife and devoted Christian involved in her church and numerous bible studies. She will be missed by many. Connie Wright-Tabler of Midfield, TX passed away September 3, 2017, in a Victoria hospital following a brief illness. Connie was born to parents, Cloyd G. and Clara Ocie Arnold Wright in Kalamazoo, MI. Connie was raised in Michigan and attended school there. She has been together with Nick Tabler for over 25 years, and they were married in Bay City, TX. Together, they enjoyed going to antique auctions. Connie also enjoyed photography and being known as the #1 Boss Rancher at home. Her absolute favorite thing was to be with her best friend and special buddy, Mira Tabler. She is survived by her husband, Nick Tabler of Midfield; daughters, Rowena Tabler-Smith and husband J.R. of Wharton, Tiffany Wilson of Virginia, and Rachel Webb and husband Jay of Arlington; sisters, Cathy Lawther of Missouri, Carla Overacker and Candy Marsten both of Michigan; brother, Charles Wright of Colorado; numerous grandchildren, including her best friend, Mira Tabler; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including her favorite, cousin Sandy.
