Faith Alese Ragland of Killeen, Texas passed away on September 26, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2000. Graveside Service in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with the Rev. Carrie Edison officiating.

Faith was the infant daughter of Kevin L. and Valerie Ragland. She was born in Ft. Hood, Texas and passed away at a local hospital. She is survived by her parents, maternal grandparents, Sam and Tessie Brown of Bay City; paternal grandparents, Janice Williams of Baltimore, MD, and Ronald Ragland of Philadelphia, PA, and great-grandmother Josephine Young of Bay City.

Funeral services for David Randall Rainwater, 35, of Bay City will be held 3 pm Saturday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W. E. Dugger Jr. officiating.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.

Mr. Rainwater was born Nov. 29, 1953, in Palestine, Texas, to George Walter and Katherine Huffstutler Rainwater and died June 29, 1989, in Bay City.

He graduated from Bay City High School in 1972 and from Sam Houston State University in 1981. He was the owner of David R. Rainwater and Co. Accounting Firm.

He was a director of the Bay City Chamber of Commerce for three years; was a member of the Bay City Ambassador Club; and past director and member of Matagorda County Women’s Crisis Center.

A resident of Bay City for 20 years, he was a certified scuba diver.

Survivors include his parents, George and Katherine Rainwater of Bay City, maternal grandmother, Sadie M. Huffstutler of Austin; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Steven and Amy Marie Rainwater of Houston; a nephew, Christopher Steven Rainwater; and a niece, Holley Michelle Rainwater of Houston; several aunts, uncles, and a host of friends and business associates.

Pallbearers include M. E. Vannoy, Stan E. Vannoy, Howard Rainwater, Keith Rainwater, W. D. Kilsby, Steve Reese, Paul Johnson and Charles L. Williams.

In lieu of the usual contributions, remembrances can be made to the Matagorda County Women’s Crisis Center.

Lupe Ramos passed away November 29, 2011. She was born April 5, 1930 in Goliad, Texas to the late Jose Mireles & Lucas Sanchez Mireles. She was a loving wife, mother & grandmother with a deep faith in God.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years D. L. Maria Rangel Ramos, 91, formerly of Bay City passed away August 5, 2011. She was born July 26, 1920 in Ennis, Texas.

Survivors include daughters Nicole Valdez of Bay City and Lydia Castaneda of Markham; son Manuel Valdez of Bay City; 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Reynaldo Ramos, 77, of Wadsworth, Texas died Nov. 12, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Pasadena.

He was born Sept. 27, 1925 in Victoria to the late Miguel and Delores Garza Ramos.

Mr. Ramos was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth and was a resident of Wadsworth since 1950.

Survivors include: wife, Matilde Medina Ramos of Wadsworth; daughter and son-in-law: Christina and Raleigh Frank Ryman of Wadsworth; son, Rey Ramos of Wadsworth; sister, Guadalupe Ramos of Bay City; brother, Manuel Ramos of Bay City; and two granddaughters, Mattie Katherine and Lara Lee Ryman of Wadsworth.

A Rosary service was held 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

The funeral mass was 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerry Cernock officiating.

Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daniel Torres, Oscar Ramos, Stacy Ramos, Louis Medina Jr. and Rudy Tejeda.

Honorary Pallbearers were Frank Ryman , Alfred Medina, Daniel Medina, Joseph (Joey) Medina and Micheal Martin.

A Memorial Mass for John Kenneth 'Ken' Rampmeier, 78, of High Point, North Carolina, was held April 7, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point.

Mr. Rampmeier was born Jan. 23, 1933 in the Deutschburg Community near Palacios, Tx. to the late Alvin and Rubye Rampmeier. He died April 4, 2011 at the High Point Hospice Home after a brave battle with cancer.

The first in his family to go to college, Ken earned his degree at Texas A&I-Kingsville, followed by service in the U.S. Army. He was then employed for 29 years by Union Carbide, first at Seadrift where he met his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Tasin Rampmeier. His career then took him to Texas City, West Virginia and Connecticut, before retiring to High Point where his love of golf led him to work at the local golf course for many years.

Ken was a loving husband, father and Paw Paw.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn; brother Al of Bryan, Tx.; sisters, Norma and Janice of Palacios; son Keith of San Diego, CA; daughter Cara Dudley and husband David of Charlotte, NC, and grandchildren Christopher, Victoria, Kathryn and Matthew John Dudley.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church-Building Fund, 4145 Johnson St., High Point NC 27265 and the Hospice Home at High Point, 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point NC 27262.

BAY CITY - Romana P. Rangel, 72, of Bay City, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003.

She was born Feb. 29, 1930, in Bay City, to the late Jesus and Petra Vega Perez. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Survivors: husband, Louis Rangel; daughter, Theresa Rangel of Bay City; sons, Louis J. Rangel of Lake Jackson and Roberto W. Rangel and David Rangel, both of Bay City; sister, Mary Soria of Angleton; brothers, Frank Perez and Florenco Perez, both of Angleton; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Rev. Jerry Cernoch officiating.

BAY CITY - Jeannine Rawlings, 80, of Bay City, formerly of Port Lavaca, passed away May 12, 2011. She was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Buda, to the late Jesse and Jessie Doherty Galbreath. Jeannine was a member of First Baptist Church in Bay City, Alamo Heights Baptist Church in Port Lavaca, and was a retired floral store owner.

She is survived by her daughters, Danne Russell and husband Calvin of Bay City, Bunny Smith and husband William of Alvin; sons, Dennis Rawlings and wife Elaine of El Campo, and Mark Rawlings and wife Rita of Austin; sisters, Peggy Lemon of Kalamazoo, Mich., Dimples Hargraves of San Angelo, and Joann Burk of Conroe; brother, Corky Galbreath of San Marcos; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband, Billie "Bill" Rawlings in 2007, and her son, Billy James Rawlings in 2009.

A time of visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011, at the Alamo Heights Baptist Church in Port Lavaca with the Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Thompson, Ethan Warden, Derek Rawlings, Patrick Richardson, and Mike Hall.

Funeral services for Thomas Lewis Redwine, 82, of Wharton will be at 2 p. m. Friday, May 22 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Wilson officiating.

Interment will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Redwine died May 20 at his residence. He was born Aug. 13, 1915 in Hugo, Okla. to the late Clyde E. and Addie Alma Anthany Redwine.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, a resident of Wharton for the past six years, a former long-time resident of Bay City and Sargent, and a retired butcher.

He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Marguerette “Winnie” and Clyde Newman of Sweeny; two nephews, Clyde Thomas Newman of San Antonio, and Hal Ben Grady of Rosenberg; five nieces, Nola Payne of Jasper, Glenda Sue Mayes of Palo Pinto, Betty Nelson of Killeen, Lena Marie Biles of Mineral Wells, and Alma Louise Zant of Alvin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Redwine in 1959.

Pallbearers are Ken Daniels, Lloyd Zant, Hal Ben Grady, Glyde Thomas Newman, Jerry Nelson and Sheldon Salone.

Ruby Elizabeth Reed, 96 of Bay City died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000. She was born September 24, 1904 in Miguel, Texas to the late John W. and Mary Cross Starr.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married 69 years and was a member of the Golden Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy and Charlie Walker of Bay City, Nita Davis of Bay City; son, Joe and Almarie Reed of Bay City; 12 grandchildren, Alan Troutman of Houston, Donna and Larry Walkins of Wallis, Texas, Clyde and Alberta Davis of Bay City, Gary and Alice Davis also of Bay City, Stephen Ray Davis of San Antonio, Russell and Margaret Reed of Austin, Quentin Reed of Houston, Ginger Reed of College Station, Sherri and Charles Unger of Edna, Wendell and Lisa Reed of Markham, Randall Reed of Markham, Lara and Joe Ramsey of Markham; 18 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Edgar Gus Reed; sons, Floyd Reed, and Lloyd Reed; and grandson Todd Unger.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Sassman of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. at the service beautiful music was sung by Kenneth and Phyllis Walker of West Columbia. Burial followed at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers included David Davis, Wayne Davis, Robert Davis, Charles Unger, Wendell Reed, and Alan Troutman.

Funeral services for Edgar Gus Reed, 91, of Bay City will be held 2 p. m. Saturday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joe Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City.

Mr. Reed was born Feb. 2, 1898, in Llano County, Texas, to Thomas B. and Ora Lane Blocker Reed and died Nov. 30, 1989, at Bay Villa Nursing Home in Bay City.

A resident of Bay City since 1944, he was a member of Golden Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Reed of Bay City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Joe Davis and Dorothy and Charles Walker, all of Bay City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Vernon and Almarie Reed of Bay City and Floyd Gus and Nola Reed of Markham; a daughter-in-law, Orenell Reed of Markham; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley Jean Reese, 78, of Bay City passed away Monday, December 2, 2002 at the Legacy Nursing Center in Bay City. She was born on August 13, 1924 in Salisbury, Missouri to parents George Gilbert and Lillian Folkes Steinebach.

She was a devoted housewife and mother and a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bay City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vance Eugene, and two sisters, Clara Grantham and Helen McEntire

She is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Don E. and Sherrie Reese of Onalaska, Texas and Ronnie N. and Bonnie Reese of Houston, a daughter, Darla Kay Vinson of Bay City, and a sister, Pauline Grantham; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Bay City Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be T.J. Middleton, Jonnie J. Kovar, Jr., Owen Middleton, George A. Grantham, Norman W. Reese and Kenneth W. Grantham.

G. Reiman Dies After Heart Attack

Services are pending this morning for Gifford L. Reiman, Bay City businessman, who died last night in Houston.

Reiman reportedly suffered a heart attack as he was leaving a ball game at about 10 p. m. He was taken to Herman Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The businessman owned Gifford’s Men’s Shop in Bay City and was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Masonic Lodge.

He was the second child born in Bay City after the town was incorporated.

Reiman, Gifford L., a lifelong resident of Bay City, passed away suddenly in Houston, April 7. He was 75 years of age. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Velva Reiman and one brother, Ernest Reiman, both of Bay City. Mr. Reiman was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and the Bay City Masonic Lodge No. 865 A. F. & A. M. Services will be held Saturday, April 10, 10:00 a. m. at Taylor Brothers Chapel. The Rev. Milton McWilliams will officiate with interment being in Cedarvale Cemetery. Velva Reiman

Graveside services for Velva Reiman, 91, of Bay City will be held at 1 p. m. Sunday at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with the Rev. Hugh Jones officiating.

Reiman was born Oct. 10, 1899, to John and Emma Roland Osborn in Illinois and died Aug. 2, 1991 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

Reiman was a resident of Bay City for 75 years and a member of the Eastern Star and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Survivors include a sister, Beverly Searcy of Houston; a brother-in-law, C. R. Searcy of Houston; two nephews, Michael Ray Searcy of Rockport and Gerald Osborn of Waco and a sister-in-law, Grace Osborn of Waco. Reiman was preceded in death by her husband, Giffard [Gifford] Reiman, in 1972.

John Reinke Dies Suddenly

Mr. John Dudley Reinke, age 50 years, 6 months, 13 days, passed away suddenly while on duty at the Alamo Refining Co., in Old Ocean Saturday.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Odell Williams Reinke; two sons, John Dudley, Jr., and Claude Wayne Williams of Bay City; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ashcraft of Bay City; and four brothers, Henry Reinke of Bay City, Alec Reinke [of] Alice, Fred Reinke of Premont and Ted Reinke of Refugio.

Mr. Reinke was a member of the Bay City Odd Fellows lodge No. 81 and Sons of Hermann lodge of El Campo. He was born in Bay City and had lived here all his life.

Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Monday from Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest F. Deutsch, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Cedarvale Cemetery. The following were active pallbearers: Earl Vaughn, T. A. Brown, C. O. Middleton, Wm. Walker, C. W. Reese and C. E. Lee. The services at the grave were in charge of the Bay City Odd Fellows Lodge.

Opal Odell Reinke

Opal Odell Reinke, 94, passed away December 9, 2004 in Bay City, Texas.

She was born March 18, 1910, in Lexington, Texas to the late A.P. and Jenny Frank Pierce Williams.

She was married in 1934 to the late John Dudley Reinke and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend.

She was a life-long resident of Bay City and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, John D. Reinke, Jr. and wife Kay of New Braunfels, Texas, Claude W. Reinke and wife Rhonda of Fallbrook, California, and Darby N. Reinke and wife Barbara of Denton, Texas; brother, F.J. Williams of Bay City; sister, Ila Holloway of Kerrville, Texas; 12 grandchildren, J.D. Reinke, III, Katrina Marbach, Gretchen Deatherage, Heidi Easley, Kathy Broding, Kari Gomez, Kelli Reinke, Kati Reinke, Christopher Reinke, Erin Zizak, Christian Reinke, and Jonathan Reinke; three grandchildren by marriage, Julie Ivey, Jason Shadle and Craig Shadle; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Mrs. Reinke was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Reinke, parents, four sisters, five brothers and a daughter-in-law, Abby Reinke.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Magee, Mrs. Stanley, Mrs. Harvel, Mrs. Stone and other Pink Ladies who give such special care to the residents of the Legacy.

Thanks also to Dr. Griffith who tended to mom’s medical needs for so many years, and to Dr. Sacco, staff of the legacy, and Hospice personnel who provided such good care during her final years.

Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday December 11, 2004 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating.

Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Reinke’s sons and grandsons.

Dr. Roy Rice Rites To Be Held At 2 P. M. Sunday

Dr. Roy Rice, retired chiropractor who died recently in England, will be buried Sunday at 2 p. m. at Cedarvale Cemetery. Services will be held at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. Graveside Masonic rites will be held. Officiating will be Rev. Louis Saunders, pastor of the First Christian Church.

Dr. Rice was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Rice of Bay City. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Rice hs been retired from the U. S. Army.

Waylon Lee Rice, 88, of Bay City, passed away on March 25, 2011, at Santa Maria, California.

He was born June 14, 1922, in Bay City, Texas, to W.L. Rice and Bertha Rice.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maybelle Rice, and son, Lex Rice.

He is survived by: son, Kim Rice and wife Debbie; two grandchildren; sister, Avon Mooney; also close friend, Betty Sanders.

Waylon was in WWII and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was in the United States Air Force.

Mrs. Richard was born on Feb. 27, 1930 in Coolidge, Ariz. She went to be with her Lord on Feb. 18, 2011.

Alvin Travis "Bugger" Richardson
 

BAY CITY - Alvin Travis "Bugger" Richardson, 79, of Bay City, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 23, 1932 in Midfield to the late Samuel and Emmie Martin Richardson.

He attended schools in Midfield, Blessing, and he was in the first graduating class of Tidehaven High School of 1950. Shortly after high school, he worked as an apprentice to a mortician. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His big love was the oilfield. He retired from Sun Oil Company with 37 years of service. He continued employment as a Drilling Consultant with other exploration and production companies. For the past two years he has owned and operated a salt water disposal in Midfield.

He is a member of the Midfield Community Church and was president of the Midfield Cemetery Association. He was a life member of the VFW in Bay City. He was gifted with musical talent and he sang in the church choir and also played a Dobro in a local band that performed for Nursing Homes and AARP.

He is survived by wife Ruby Hahn Richardson of Bay City; daughters Cindy Coz and husband Andy of Pearland, Paula Richardson of Bellville, Jill Cornelius of Bay City; granddaughters, Sarah de Ganna and husband Josh of Seabrook, Kathryn Cornelius of San Antonio, Annie Cornelius of Bay City; great grandsons Brayden and Jacob deGanna of Seabrook; brother Alton Richardson of Bay City, sister Edith Hurta of Bay City, and many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends and his faithful dog Millie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, sisters Violet Talafuse, Betty Mott, brothers Lolar Lee and William "Bill" Richardson.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 3 PM to 6 PM at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11 AM at the Midfield Community Church with Rev. Clyde Grier and Pastor Tom Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at the Midfield Cemetery with Military Honors.

MIDFIELD - Evelyn Annie Richardson, 79, of Midfield, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Sept. 20, 2011. She was born on March 13, 1932 in Midfield, to the late John J. and Millie Biskup Kretschmar.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Nemec and husband Mike of El Campo, Donna Garcia and husband Jesse of Houston, Sandra Griffin and husband Larry of Hunt; sons, Lolar Lee Richardson Jr. of Sugar Land, Michael Richardson and wife Marilyn of Midfield; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lolar Lee Richardson; brothers: infant brother, Robert Lee Kretschmar, and Eugene Kretschmar; and sisters, Tillie Wratislaw and Mary Schurtz.

Mr. Rico was born Nov. 13, 1930 in Bay City to Maldeleno and Petra Espinosa Rico and died Nov 3, 1993 in the V. A. Hospital in Houston. 

A veteran of the US Army, he was a member of the Catholic church.

Survivors include his wife, Lesvia Dalia Rico of Houston; a daughter, Marcela Rico Fowler of Missouri City; two sons, Jose Juan Rico of Sugarland and Ricardo Rico of Webster; two sisters, Irene Bessara of Bay City and Diana Rodriguez of Bay City; two brothers, Medardo Rico of Bay City and John Rico of Bay City and seven grandchildren.

Roberta Kay Anthis Ripke Roberta was born on August 3, 1945 in Temple, Texas to Joseph Horton Anthis Jr. and Mable "Bobbie" Hansen Anthis. She passed on January 25, 2012 at the age of 66 at her home in Palacios, Texas after a lengthy and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Roberta is survived by her son Richard "Ricky" Ripke and wife Sharlynn of Seguin, Texas, daughters Kimberly W. Ripke Garcia and husband Lawrence of Palacios, Texas, and Felicia D. Ripke Jackson and husband Michael of New Braunfels, Texas. Grandchildren Leah and Trevor Ripke, Kristen, Alyssa, Sydney, and Lawrence Aidan Garcia, and three great grandchildren. Also brothers Roger Smith, Jodie Anthis, and Leon Anthis, her brother and sister-in-law Phillip Ripke and Mary Louise Fernandez of Palacios, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Brother" Ripke Jr. and infant son Shannon D. Ripke.

Roberta was the Executive Director of Palacios Area Fund of the Communities Foundation of Texas for the last 25 years. She recently retired on December 31, 2011.

Visitation will be provided by Palacios Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Palacios, Saturday at 2 pm followed by graveside services at Palacios Cemetery.

Manuel Orozco Rivera, Jr., 52, of Markham, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2001. He was born July 22, 1948 in Vincent, Texas to Manuel O. Rivera, Sr. and Jesusa Orozco. Formerly of Bay City, he was a resident of Markham for the past three years and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City. He was a retired construction laborer from Phillips Petroleum Company.

CUERO - George Thomas Ritter, 55, of Cuero, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2011. He was born Sept. 28, 1955 in Matagorda to the late Harley Max Ritter and Ethal Lucille Robbins Ritter. He was a diesel mechanic and a welder. He graduated from Victoria High School in 1974 and served in the U.S. Navy from February 1981 to April 1985.

He is survived by his sister, Bessie Neil Ritter-Souris of Westhoff; brother, James Paul Ritter of Houston; niece, Victoria Elizabeth Souris of Victoria; nephews, Garrett Samual Sauris of Cuero and Henry Gregory Chennault Jr. of Victoria; and great-niece, Leah Rayne Chennault of Cuero.

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Forrest Freman Ritter and Nettie Ann Beach-Ritter; and maternal grandparents, George Thomas Robbins and Georga Bell Patman-Robbins.

Lucille Roberts, 84, of Bay City died Nov. 3, 2002 at her residence.

She was born Aug. 6, 1918 in Bay City to the late Thomas and Mildred Walker Carr.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a lifelong resident of Bay City.

Mrs. Roberts taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church for 14 years and at First Baptist Church in Wharton for seven years.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Bay City Garden Club, Bay City Book Review Club, and Women’s Golf Association.

She loved to water ski, snow ski, and fish.

She also was an avid tennis player.

Mrs. Roberts was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include: husband, Cecil Roberts of Bay City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Ron Coker of Galveston, and Jean and Charles Cadenhead of Spring, Texas; five grandchildren, Gregg Coker and wife Brinda of Bellville, Donna Tarbox and husband John of Austin, Steve Cadenhead and wife Sampong of Mexico City, Sean O’Neal Miller and Jeff O’Neal Miller; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son: Willard Lloyd O’Neal; sister, Mary Frank Burnell; brother, Toney Carr; and grandson, Mike O’Neal Miller.

John Robertson, Jr.

John Robertson, Jr. passed away Aug. 28, 2011, at Warm Springs Specialty Hospital, in Victoria, Tx. after a recent medical emergency event. He had been chronically ill for many months.

John was a resident of Palacios for the past few years after retiring, and lived in Houston prior to moving. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Arsenal Technical High School. He worked 40 years, doing lead maintenance in apartment complexes, and was well known in that industry.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Rebecca Salinas (Roque), and granddaughter, Caitlin Elizabeth Salinas. Other survivors include, daughter, Crickett Robertson, and granddaughter, Shelby Caulk.

He was predeceased by his parents, John Sr. (Bud) and Evelyn Fosgate Robertson, and brother, Stephen K.

John was a kind, friendly person. He knew how to do almost anything, and helped his family restore and renovate the homes they now live in, in Palacios. He loved to fish and play darts. He will be missed.

She was born December 6, 1933 in Houston, Texas, to the late Joel Edmond and Beulah Mae Fondon Benham.

Mrs. Robinson was a member of the Baptist Church and a resident of South Houston since 1974. She was a former resident of Bay City.

"Red" Rodgers
 

HOUSTON - Alton A. (Red) Rodgers, 85, of Houston and Edna, went home with Jesus Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012. Red was born in Pledger, Texas in 1926 and grew up in Morales and attended high school in Boling.
 
He served in the Army Air Corps in WW II as a pilot in training, bombardier and navigator in training. Red went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1949. He began his career with Humble Oil Company and retired with Esso Exploration (Exxon). Red and wife, Hope moved to Morales (Edna) Texas to retire and watch all their grandchildren enjoy life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with all of his friends and family.

Red was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; daughter, Nancy; his parents; and his second wife, Hope.

Red is survived by his children, Allison Madison, Alan Staton, Alton Rodgers Jr., Delbert Rodgers, and Naomi Collins; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Naomi (Namp) Baca and an uncountable number of nieces and nephews and cousins.

A visitation for Red will be Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stephen F. Austin Room at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A graveside service celebrating Reds life is Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Concluding service Reds family and friends will gather for a reception to reflect on the wonderful life that he lived.

Diana Charles Rodriguez, 43, of Bay City, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2001 in Houston, Texas. She was born September 23, 1957 in Bay City to Louis Charles and Enedina Jimenez. She was a life-long resident of Bay City.

She was born March 15, 1960, in Harlingen, to Antonio and Romana Tamaez Anguiano. She attended Workshop at Edith Armstrong Center.

Survivors: parents, Charlie and Romana Rodriguez of Markham; brother, Carlos Rodriguez of Markham; and sister, Elia Rodriguez of Markham.

Services will be at 2 p. m. today at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Monsignor James Brunner officiating.

Fidel V. Rodriguez, Jr., 45, of Bay City, died February 9, 2005, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He was born March 23, 1959, in Austin, Texas, to the late Fidel Sr. and Margaret Villareal Rodriguez.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a resident of Bay City the past 25 years.

Survivors include: wife, Gloria Davila Rodriguez of Bay City; daughters, Mary Cadena, Francisca Rodriguez and Felicia Rodriguez, all of Bay City, and Jessica Rodriguez of Austin; sons, Fidel Rodriguez, III and Jacob Rodriguez, both of Austin, and Cumesindo Rodriguez of Bay City; grandmother, Sonora Villareal of Bay City; sisters, Margaret Mendez and Alice Carmona, both of Luling, Rosemary Rodriguez, Judy Rodriguez, Connie Rios, Aurora Martinez, Yolonda Rodriguez, Nora Torres and Paula Rodriguez, all of Austin, Mary Ester Diaz of Bay City, and Mary Helen Torres of Taylor, Texas; brothers, Charlie Rodriguez of Bay City, Johnnie Rodriguez of San Antonio, Terry Rodriguez of Bose, Idaho, and Augustine Reyes of Luling, Texas; and 17 grandchildren.

Jasmine "The Miracle Child" Rodriguez, age 3 of Bay City, one of the triplets born to Jesus "Jesse" and Mayra Salazar Rodriguez on October 18, 1996 in Galveston, Texas, died July 28, 2000, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas.

In addition to her parents, survivors include: brother, Xavier; triplet sisters Jacqueline and Jocelyn all of Bay City; paternal grandparents Jesus "Shorty" and Betsy Rodriguez also of Bay City; maternal grandparents Rogelio and Blanca Salazar and maternal great grandfather Rogelio Salazar, Sr. all of Allende, N. L. Mexico; aunts and uncles Dora Rodriguez, Urbana Rodriguez, Diana and Arthur Barrera all of Bay City, Daniel and Carmen Salazar, Nancy Salazar, Nydia and Lalo Salazar all of Allende, N. L. She was born Oct. 10, 1924 in Nordheim to Pedro and Pauline Pena. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Sugar Land and a former member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City.

Survivors: daughter, Yolanda Martinez of Sugar Land; sons, Robert Romero of Houston, and Jesse Romero III of Bay City; sister, Magdalena Longoria of Bay City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: husband, Jesus Romero.

Our Blessed Mother and Grandmother has left us to be embraced by Our Lord. We grieve in her absence from us but rejoice in her life and the legacy she has left us.

Her life was an abundance of love for us all and she was a lesson to us on the wisdom of living.

Artlisa was born in Dora, Alabama, to Walter Basch and Mable McPherson Basch.

They moved to Gulfport, Mississippi in 1924, where she spent her younger years.

She married Hillman Prentiss Rouse on May 22, 1926, in Mississippi where they lived until September 1933 when they found their way to Bay City, Texas, where they raised their family.

Artlisa lived in their family home until she died at the grand age of 100 years.

She is survived by: her daughter Peggy LaVerne Etoile Fagan (husband Jerry); and her sister Anna Francis Arceneaux; grandchildren, Delores Heinrich and husband Daniel, Christine Bortner, Louis John Fojtik, Albert Fojtik and wife Debra, Richard Fojtik, Frank Fojtik, Sharon Williams and husband Ernest, Cathy Green and husband Pete, Jimmy Fojtik and wife Jesse, Vicki Allen and husband Edward, Patty Wenckens, Danny Orsak and wife Tiffany, Ronnie Orsak, Regina Cobb, Donna Kaye Burlin, Michael Rouse and wife Dana, Jacquelyn Belle Williams and husband Andy, Catharine White; 18 great-grandsons; 12 great-granddaughters; four great-step-grandsons; five great-step-granddaughters; eight great-great-grandsons; 11 great-great-granddaughters; two great-great-step-grandsons; four great-great-step-granddaughters.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Hillman Rouse; daughter, Winifred Irene Fojtik; sons, Hillman Prentiss Rouse Jr., and Eugene Orval Rouse; brothers, Robert and Harley Basch, sister Gertrude Basch and great-grandson Scott Allen Heinrich.

We are so grateful to our family members who watched over her and cared for her in her later years. It allowed her to stay in her home she loved dearly.

She is also survived by many friends who were especially dear to her heart. Our family thanks you for your love and devotion to her. A special thankfulness for you Manuel and Myrna.

Mildred Alene Rowland, 76, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was born in Lee County, Texas, on Aug. 27, 1924, to parents Willie Walton and Nancy McFarlin Delvige.

She worked as office manager and receptionist at Bay City Funeral Home for the past 30 years and was a former licensed vocational nurse at Matagorda General Hospital.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City and a faithful member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class.

She is survived by: her husband of 56 years, Gerald W. Rowland of Bay City; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe A. and Susan Rowland and Ronnie and June Rowland, all of Bay City; and the joy of her life, her grandchildren, Kara, Grant and Ashley; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ruth Delvige of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Zelma and Ray Brinkmeyer of Comfort, and Willie Mae and Ray Morgan of Austin; and sister LaRue Watson of Lexington.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2000 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Zimmerman and Dr. W. D. Baker officiating.

Susan Lanham Rowland
(February 1, 1955 - October 25, 2011)

Susan Lanham Rowland, 56, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston following a short illness. Susan was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 1, 1955 to parents, Raymond Dale and Hazel Larwood Lanham. She was a graduate of North Texas State University and worked 22 years as an educator and mentor to numerous children in Rosebud, New Caney, and 20 years with the Bay City Independent School District. She also served 7 years as the director of the Child Development Center of the First Baptist Church of Bay City. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City where she attended the Adult 4 Sunday School Class, sang in the Adult Choir for 32 years, and was a charter member of the Kings Ringers Handbell choir. She had a passion for teaching children and loved seeing them continue their education and graduate.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joe Rowland, a daughter and son-in-law, Kara and Ron Cowart, Jr. of Bay City, a son and daughter-in-law, Grant and Krystal Rowland of Spring, and 3 grandchildren, Tyler Taylor, Logan Rowland, and Mason Cowart. She is also survived by two sisters and their husbands, Terri and Darrell Pearce of Fort Worth and Cheryl and Blake McConnell of Denton and a step sister, Judy Veal of Fort Worth as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many, many former students.

A time of visitation will held on Friday evening, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Bay City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 29th at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church of Bay City with Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Mike Collins, Jeremy Collins, Ryan Collins, Taylor Matthes, Brian Pearce, and Brad Moore will serve as pallbearers.

Joe Alan Rowland, 67, of Bay City passed away April 17, 2019. He was born January 21, 1952 in Cameron, TX to the late Gerald Rowland and Mildred Alene Delvige Rowland.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Susan Lanham Rowland.

Survivors include daughter Kara Cowart (Ron) of Bay City; son Grant Rowland (Krystal) of Spring, TX; brother Ronnie Rowland (June) of Bay City, grandchildren Tyler Taylor, Logan Rowland, Mason and Reid Cowart, and niece Ashley Rowland.

Joe wore many different hats throughout his lifetime. He was a beloved husband and father and an outstanding PaPa Joe to his four grandsons. He spent 22 years working at Celanese and after retiring from there he went back to his first love – teaching. He spent the next 17 years teaching chemistry (and a couple of other sciences) at Tidehaven High School. He dearly loved his students and co-workers at THS, he loved his family unconditionally, and he loved his God more than anything.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 22, 2019 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. A time of visitation will follow immediately after the service in the FBC gym.

Tres Palacios Oaks - Odie Booth “O.B.” Russom, 84, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011.

He was born on November 6, 1926, in Merkel to the late Jess and Aria Russom.

He retired from HL&P, South Texas Nuclear Plant, in 1994, as an electrical supervisor. He was known as the “Godfather of Q.C.”

He is survived by: his wife, Mille Russom of Tres Palacios Oaks; brother, T.H. Russom and wife, Vernell; daughter, Brynn Lee and husband, Harold of Thomaston; son, Kenny Russom and wife, Kellee of Bay City; stepsons, Ray May and wife, Pam of Kent, Indiana, and Rob May and wife, Sherri of Brownstown, Indiana; step-daughters, Laura Murphy and husband, Billy of Houston and Deana Mabe and husband, Robert of Victoria; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randall Booth Russom, and sister, Maggie Russom.

Graveside services under the auspice of Masonic Lodge No. 40 AF& AM were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Golden Sunset Cemetery with Mr. Robert Mabe officiating.

Funeral services for Clyde Eugene Ryman Sr., 90, of Wadsworth were scheduled for 2 p. m. today at Sixth Street Church of Christ with Rod Tate officiating. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City.

Mr. Ryman was born Feb. 13, 1896, in Wadsworth to Peter and Annie Petrucha Ryman and died March 21, 1986, at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include three sons, Clyde E. Ryman Jr. of Richmond, William C. Ryman of Rosharon and James C. Ryman of Canoga Park, Calif.; three daughters, Elizabeth J. Cook of Houston, Frances Bruening of Bay City and Joan Stewart of Friendswood; a daughter-in-law, Myra Ryman, wife of the late John D. Ryman of Wadsworth; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Mae Ryman in 1951; a grandson, Kenneth Ray Ryman in 1980; and a son, John D. Ryman in 1984.

Services are under the direction of Dick R. Elkins, Bay City Funeral Home.

Mabel Mae Ryman

Mrs. Mabel Mae Ryman, 48 years, passed away at her home in Bay City this morning about 4 o’clock after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00 AM Saturday morning, December 22nd, with the Rev. W. L. Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale with Taylor Brothers in charge.

 

Mrs. Ryman is survived by: her husband, C. E. Ryman; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Mae DeRango of Houston, Miss Frances Rose Ryman and Miss Joan Carol Ryman of Bay City; four sons, C. E. Jr. and N. C. of Houston, John Douglas and James Calvin of Bay City; one brother, John K. Wood of Newgulf; and, one sister, Mrs. Blanche Slapater of Alvin.

Funeral services for Kathryn "Katie" Ryman, 85, of Brazoria will be Friday, July 19, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, Brazoria.

Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, Texas.

She died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Sweeny.

Kathyrn and Vernon Ryman were married for 67 years.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon Ryman of Brazoria; one son, Robert Ryman (Linda) of Brazoria; one grandchild, Michael Wayne Ryman; and a host of other relatives, nephews, nieces and friends.

Funeral services for Virginia Bell Ryman, 91, of Bay City were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robbins Odom officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City.

Mrs. Ryman was born Sept. 10, 1897, in Clinesburg, Texas, and died Dec. 14, 1988 at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City.

A resident of Matagorda County since 1910, she was a member of the Wadsworth Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Gertrude Hardy, Margaret Verdecanna, and Sybil Weiss, all of Bay City, and Rosemary Armstrong of Matagorda; five sons, Robert Ryman and Randolph Ryman, both of Bay City, Roy Ryman and Raymond Ryman, both of Wadsworth, and Russell Ryman of Brazoria; a sister, Katie Ryman of Wadsworth; a brothers, Alfred Laird of Houston; 30 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include William Ryman, Bruce Verdecanna, Danny Ryman, Roy Wesley Ryman, David Ryman and Russell Mike Ryman.

Honorary pallbearers include Donald Kopnicky, John Allan Weiss, Gary Lee Ryman, Frank Randolph Ryman, Jr., Frank Paul Ryman, Kirk Ryman and Nathanial Ryman.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Bay City.
