On September 20, 2012, Anthony "Tony" Hamilton died peacefully in the presence of his family at his home in Bayfield, Colorado. Despite two years of suffering with liver cancer, he courageously continued to embrace living by means of faith, philosophical acceptance and long hikes with his border collie. (Had he still been living in Bay City, Texas, he would no doubt have spent his last years hunting redfish in Matagorda.) His wife, Hope (Sissy), his four children (Adair, Vance, Marc and Vaughn), and his eight grandchildren remain blessed for having been made of part of him. Tony was born on November 29, 1934 to Tom and Ruby Hamilton in Wharton, Texas. He was graduated from the University of Texas with a law degree; married Caroline (Sissy/Hope) Almy in Ft. Worth (January 29, 1958); practiced law in Houston and in Bay City; retired jointly to Marble Falls, Texas and Bayfield, Colorado; read every history book he could from his favorite two libraries; loved high school and college football (especially Longhorn football); kayaked the waters of central Texas; and never till the end tired of hiking the high trails of southern Colorado with his beloved dog, Guapo.
