Letters to the Editor . . . .
Friendliness of Ted Fields |
Editor:
To known Ted Fields was to know a man that loved his family,
friends, city, school and country. Ted always greeted you with a
big smile, half wave of the hand, and "how you getting along?"
Although I have been with the Palacios Independent School District
for 37 years, Ted was a part of the school system long before my
time. He supported the progress of the Palacios I.S.D. during his
entire lifetime. He took his place on the Board of Trustees on
April 11, 1934, and served until April 30, 1937. The depression was
on in the 1930's but Ted, along with other trustees and
Superintendent Ralph Newsom, worked long and hard to keep the prized
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools regional accredition.
Today's Palacios I.S.D. stands on the foundation established by Ted
and many other unselfish trustees.
We know his daughter, Wanda, son-in-law Eli Mayfield, and family are
proud of being a part of the family of Ted and Idell Fields.
Sincerely,
George Holst
