The little eight months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Faster [Faktor] died last Tuesday morning and was interred Wednesday afternoon in the Midfield Cemetery, Rev. H. W. Gaston of Markham conducting the funeral services. We extend sympathy to the young parents who are bereaved of their only child.

Jack Truett Farris, 85, returned to his heavenly home on July 1, 2016, after a battle with prostate cancer and heart problems. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Truett is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at home with his creator. Graveside services for Clarence “Dugan” Feagin, 67, of Midfield were held 6 p. m. Sunday at Midfield Cemetery, Midfield. Mr. Feagin was born March 5, 1921, in Palacios to Clarence Hendrix and Abby Pauline Taylor Feagin and died Sept. 9, 1988, at his residence. A resident of Midfield for five years, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge 865 in Bay City, Disabled Veterans and the Methodist church. He was a veteran of World War II and participated in the Normandy invasion. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Anderson of Holman, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Joan Marie Newman of Kentwood, La.; two sons, Richard Dennis Feagin of Leggett, Texas, and Clarence Elmer Feagin Jr. of College Station; a stepson, Tull Hayes Irwin of New Orleans, La.; a sister, Margaret Bunge of Garwood, Texas; a brother, Halley Anderson of Rockdale, Texas; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Cecil Thomas Fields, 78, of Bay City, Texas passed away December 14, 2016. He was born August 31, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to the late Raymond Fields and Lelia Hill Fields. Tom was a graduate of Bay City High School and was a proud fighting Texas Aggie who graduated in 1964 and began his 32 year long career with Dow Chemical Company. He and his family moved throughout the United States during the course of his career and he and Jeannie settled in Bay City after retirement, so that Tom could pursue the things that he loved: fishing, hunting, food and enjoying time with his friends and family. Tom and Jeannie met when they were teenagers and were happily married for 57 years. They were a true testament of love to their children and grandchildren. Tom was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Bay City, serving in many capacities including as Officer, but was most well known for his work with the Food Pantry. Tom continued to serve others even while receiving treatment. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Raymond Fields. Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Fields of Bay City; daughter, Stephanie Fields Grote and husband Andy of Sugar Land; son, Scott Thomas Fields and wife Trisha of Austin; and five grandchildren, Adrienne, Jorden and Luke Fields, and Blake and Ryan Grote. The family received friends and relatives from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mrs. Edith D. Fitzgerald, 70, died Thursday in Matagorda General Hospital. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a resident of Midfield for 58 years. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Taylor Brothers Chapel with the Rev. E. B. McCulley of Markham presiding. Burial will be in the Midfield Cemetery. Survivors include: husband, James E. A very sad accident occurred at Midfield ate Thursday afternoon when the little five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fitzgerald received burns that resulted in her death Friday morning. Mr. Fitzgerald was burning grass and the little child had a cornstalk which was afire, the fire catching her dress, and before the flames could be extinguished the little body was burned from chin to knees.—Palacios Beacon Matagorda County Tribune, January 5, 1923

Mr. F. H. Fitzgerald, age 76 years, 8 months and 7 days of Midfield, Texas, died Thursday. Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by two sons and four daughters and has been a resident of our county for 39 years. He followed the trade of carpenter and helped build the three first houses in Bay City. Funeral services were held at the Midfield cemetery Friday afternoon at 2 p. m. Rev. R. Payne of Markham Methodist Church officiating. His remains were buried in Midfield cemetery under direction of Taylor Bros. Obituary Mr. F. H. Fitzgerald was born in Bonham, Fannin County, Texas, June 2, 1857. When he was a very small child his father was killed in the Civil War. He spent his boyhood living up and down the Red River. He was married to Mattie Mathis in 1885 and to this union was born twelve children of whom three died in infancy. Surviving are Mrs. Mattie Fitzgerald, Mrs. H. O. Bard, Mrs. N. K. McSparran, Mrs. Roy Buchanan, Mrs. Geo. Siebel, Mrs. A. R. Savell, Jim Fitzgerald, Mary Ellen Fitzgerald, W. G. Fitzgerald and Mrs. Joe Kuhnsman. Also twenty-four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They moved to South Texas in 1893 and he has been a resident of Matagorda County for 39 years. He was a carpenter by trade and built many houses in Houston and other towns including several houses in Midfield. The first three houses in Bay City were built by him. He was a great sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing as long as his health would permit. He was a member of the Christian Church, having joined this church when about thirty-five years of age. He first became sick in March, 1931 with a stroke of paralysis and has had several strokes since that time. he died at eleven o’clock a. m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 1934 at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 5 days. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Friday at the Midfield cemetery.

Mr. Lewis Ervin Fortenberry Sr., age 83, of Wharton, died Saturday, April 8, 1995, in a Wharton hospital following an extended illness. He was born on Nov. 16, 1911, in Midfield, Texas, the son of Daniel Forrest and Johnnie Ann Hogan Fortenberry. Mr. Fortenberry had been a resident of Wharton County since 1955 and had lived in Boling and Wharton since 1966. He was a carpenter until his retirement in 1975 and was a retired member of the Carpenter’s Union in Freeport, Texas. He married Madell Womack in November of 1944 and she preceded him in death in 1984. He later married Helen Denson on April 15, 1989, in Wadsworth, Texas. He was Baptist by faith. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, April 12, 1995, at the Chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Orville Roberts officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 12;30 p. m. Wednesday at the Midfield Cemetery in Midfield. Nell Ruth Luddington Fontenot, 76, was born March 5, 1940 in Palacios, Texas to Floyd Lee Luddington and Thelma Dora Rivers Luddington. She resided in Orange, Texas for some 54 years and was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church. Her summons from life to life eternal came on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. She loved family and friends and was content to spend her days quietly, thankful to receive whatever blessings God sent her way. Forever cherishing their memories of her are her husband, Joseph Fontenot; children, Jacqueline Monique Sterling, Leprecia Payne, Kirsten Fontenot and Dennis Fontenot; sister, Mae Kathryn Brown (Charles); 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. BAY CITY - Robert Allan Foote, 73, of Bay City, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born February 10, 1943 in New Gulf, Texas and spent his lifetime dedicated to service and helping others. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Julian Foote, and mother, Marilyn Burton Collins.
After attending Wharton County Junior College, he began working at the Bay City Celanese Chemical plant in 1966 as a laboratory analyst and also served on the fire and emergency response team while there. He retired from Celanese after 35 years in 2001. Additionally, Robert served with the El Campo Police Department as well as a Deputy Sheriff with the Matagorda County Sheriff's Department and worked patrol for the Bay City Police Department. He was a crossing guard for the Bay City Independent School District and was a member and officer in the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years.
Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara, son, Wesley Foote and wife Diane of The Woodlands, Texas and son Kelly Foote and wife Denise of Brazoria, Texas; 2 sisters Margaret Hadaway (Bennie) of Needville, TX, Marilyn Koenig (Billy) of Louise, TX, brother Daniel Foote (Judy) of Hallettsville, TX, James Cervenka of Guy, TX, Ronald Lee Collins of North Carolina. Grandchildren Nichole Foote (San Antonio, TX), Dylan Livingston (Boerne, TX), Ashley Featherston (San Antonio, TX), Kristin Foote (Houston, TX), Alyssa Foote (The Woodlands, TX), Alexandra Foote (The Woodlands, TX), Garrett Foote (Brazoria, TX), and Paige Foote (Brazoria, TX), and his great grandchildren, Keegan Vargas (San Antonio, TX), Lane Livingston (Boerne, TX) and Presley Featherston (San Antonio, TX).

She was an Electronic Technician for Intermedics for over 17 years and worked at Brazoria Electronics prior to that. Ollie Marie Brod Foster, 98, of Blessing, Texas went to be with her Lord on November 16, 2016. Ollie was born on January 22, 1918 in Moravia, Texas to Mary Breska Brod and Ben Brod. She was one of six children. Ollie is pre-deceased by her husband, Arthur (Red) Foster. She is survived by her son, Arthur Ben (Sonny) Foster and wife Lucille Foster; and two grandchildren, Marcus Brod Foster and wife Jennifer Foster, and Amanda Foster Spikes and husband Trey Spikes. Carter O. Franklin, 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 22, 2016, following a brief illness. He was born on September 22, 1949 in Livingston, Texas, to Carter Franklin and Parale Dickens. He graduated and lived most of his life in Bay City, Texas. Carter wore many hats throughout his career. He worked as a police detective, for Brown and Root, EMS, as a volunteer fireman, and lastly owner of Franklin Firearms. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Matagorda for 25 years and an active member of the Matagorda County Sheriffs Association. Carter’s greatest passion was enjoying time spent with grand kids and family. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, repairing guns and visiting with the many friends who he met through his gunsmith shop. Someone could come in a stranger, and always left has a friend. Even after being out of law enforcement for 30 years, he was still committed to serving the citizens of Matagorda County through the Matagorda County Sheriffs Office Citizens Academy. Carter is preceded in death by his parents; and Carol Franklin, the love of his life. He is survived by son, Brian Franklin and wife Susan of Boling, TX; daughter, Carrie Miller and husband Billie of Bay City; sisters, Derinda Brown of Spring, TX, Joan Fullen and husband Roger of Houston, and Joyce Walker of Bay City; grandchildren, Gage Neimann, Chase Miller, Harold Franklin and Samantha Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol L. Franklin Carol L. Franklin, 60, went to with her Lord, May 26, 2010. Carol was born on June 25, 1949 in Bay City, Texas to the late Ovie Franklin and Lila Mae Fitzgerald Ray, Jr. Carol is retired from Southwestern Bell after 33 years, and was a substitute teacher at Tenie Holmes elementary school. She also worked at Texas Work Source for 7 years assisting clients find work. She was one of the original Girls’ Softball team members. She was a Deaconess and Elder at First Christian Church. She graduated from Thomas E. Edison University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Psychology. She is survived by her loving soul mate of 45 years Carter; her children, Carrie Ann Franklin Niemann, Brian Franklin and wife Susan, and special son, Jason Budaus; grandchildren, Gage H. Niemann, Chase A. Niemann, and Harold W. Franklin. She is also survived by her sister, Bobbi Jo (Jodi) Ray; and by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lillian Franzen, 73, of Bay City, Texas passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the presence of beloved family and friends. She was born on November 19, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas and was a long time resident of Bay City, having lived here since 1983. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Marcie Border; and brother, Roy Nobles. Lillian is remembered as a kind, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by Kenneth Franzen, her loving husband, having been together 38 years; children, Cynthia Wood of Beaumont, Greg Hanson of Austin, Mary Cork of Pasadena, Bob Hanson of Georgetown, Steve Franzen of Winnie and Roz Franzen of Winnie; 21 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Melani M. Freeman, D.V.M., 61, of Bay City, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016. Melani is survived by her beloved daughters and sons-in law, Rachel and David Esslinger of Houston, TX, and Kristen and Zack Webernick of Needville, TX; as well as her grandchildren, Piper Esslinger (2 years old) and David “Tripp” Esslinger (6 weeks old). Melani is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Marsters; and preceded in death by her father, Judson F. Marsters Sr. Melani will be remembered as a loving mother and doting GiGi whose loyalty to her family was unwavering. Melanie graduated from Texas A&M University and practiced veterinary medicine in south Texas her entire career. Her warm smile and calm demeanor touched every person she encountered, and her generosity of spirit will remain with those who loved her. Robert V. Friesen “Big Bob”, 73, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, following the sudden illness of West Nile Virus.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Friesen; daughter, Stephanie Schleicher; son, Shawn Friesen; sisters, Billie Waddle and Betty Jo Brinegar; as well as many other extended family and beloved pets.
Born in Hutchinson, KS in 1943, Bob grew up in West Texas, where he spent most of his life. Bob’s career spanned many years in the oil and nuclear industry, primarily in quality control. He was known for his quick wit, friendly nature, love of Volkswagons, and made friends wherever he went. His presence was bigger than life, and he will certainly be missed by everyone that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a GoFundMe account in his memory for the continued care of his wife, hospital expenses, cremation, and massive downsizing effort/repairs to take place at their current home.
A private memorial will be held on February 18, 2017, outside of Marble Falls.

William E. “Bill” Frontz, 83, of Palacios, Texas, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on August 28, 2016. Bill was born August 21, 1933 in Wooster, Ohio, to Earland and Heartha (Schenberger) Frontz. As a servant of Jesus Christ, Bill lived his life by example. He enjoyed helping others and served the Bay City Community at one time as a fire chief. He touched the lives of many people with his warm smile and generosity, all the while maintaining his sense of humor. Believing in an excellent work ethic, Bill founded and operated Reddy Emergency Power Company (REPCO Inc.) for many years. He enjoyed his craft as a master electrician and HVAC contractor; however, his greatest joy was spending time with his family as a loving husband, devoted father, and caring grandfather. He was a true example of an honest leader with dedication, determination and inspiration. Bill will forever be remembered by his wife, Me Nguyen Frontz; and his beloved family, William W. Frontz, Randy Frontz, Dion Moore, Thu Thach, Ngoc Duran, Minh Thach, Thom Thach, Matthew Smith, Kristen Smith, Jay Duran Jr., Jason Duran, Giovanna Thach, Xaylan Thach, Karisma Thach, Chloe Thach, Colby Moore, Caleb Moore, Kailin Duran, Blaze Duran; and countless other family members and friends who were blessed to know him. Friends will be received for visitation on Thursday, September 1, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Palacios Funeral Home in Palacios, Texas. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2016, at the Palacios Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jared Stillions officiating. Burial will be at the Palacios Cemetery, immediately following services. Pallbearers are Minh Thach, Thom Thach, Jay Duran, Jay Duran Jr., Matthew Smith, and Dion Moore. Honorary pallbearers are William W. Frontz and Randy Frontz. Memorial donations may be made at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 3000 9th St., Bay City, TX 77414, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Palacios Community Medical Center, Citizens Medical Center, Dr. Fabian Espinosa, Dr. Robin Adams, Dr. Juan Llompart, and the exceptional nurses, Roberta, Julie, Jared, Brittney and Kenna, who cared for Bill during his final days.
