I am married; the name of my wife is Ida Belle Mearns; she was born at McKenzie, Tenn. and now resides at Bay City, Texas.

It is my bona fide intention to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty and particularly to George V, King of Great Britain and Ireland. I arrived at the port of Philadelphia,  in the state of State of Penn.  on the 10th day of January, 1880.

Charles Vogg formerly of Wittenbourgh, Germany under the King of Wittenbourgh appeared  before James H. Selkirk, Clerk of County Court. Presented his petition to be allowed to declare his intentions of becoming a citizen of the United States of America.

On his oath says that it is bona fide his intention to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate, state and Sovereignty whatever and particularly towards the King of Wittenbourgh of whom said Vogg is a subject and further that he has no order of nobility or heredity whatever.

He renounced all allegiance to the Duke of Nassau of whom he was a subject.
