Funeral services for Mr. Roosevelt Boone, 74, of
Victoria, will be held Friday, March 17, 2000, at 11 a. m., at Jesus
Free Will Holy Temple, Bay City, with Bishop J. Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery in Markham.
Visitation will be Thursday until 9 p. m. in the
chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.
He was born in Markham, Texas, Thursday, Oct. 15
1925, to Ida Brown and Morgan Boone, and passed away Monday March 13,
2000 at his residence.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Spencer Boone of
Victoria; two daughters, Kathy Boone of LaMarque and Cynthia Ivy of San
Antonio; his stepmother, LouElla Boone of Palacios; two sisters,
Victoria Davis of LaMarque and Velva Williams of Sweeny; seven brothers,
Howard Williams of Port Lavaca, Monroe Williams, Jr. of California,
Ernest Williams of Rosharon, David Williams of Grady, Ark., Perry
Williams of Fresno, Howard Roberson of Palacios, and Dan Mayberry of
Dallas; also seven grandchildren; three aunts; two uncles; and other
relatives and friends.
Active and honorary pallbearers will include Bennie
Boone, Levi Boone, Jr. and other family members.

Funeral services for Selena Gaskin Boone, 73, of Houston,
will be held Thursday, April 10, 2003, at 11 a.m., at
Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, in Markham, with the Rev. James
Ashton, Jr., pastor, and the Rev. Arthur Davidson, eulogist.
Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 until 9 pm in the
funeral home chapel.
She was born in Markham, Texas, Wednesday, July 31, 1929, to
Solomon Gaskin and Annie Davis Gaskin, and passed away
Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Missouri City, Texas.
Survivors include: daughter, Leona Boone of Missouri City;
two sons, James Boone of Houston, and Sylvester Boone and
(Bobbie) of Markham; one step-sister, Ernestine Outley and
two step-brothers, the Rev. Sam Laddie and Lionel Laddie;
three sisters-in-law, Cleora Boone, Hercelia Martin and Otha
Temple; two aunts, Lewella Wyatt and Althea Gaskin, and two
uncles, Rev. L. C. Gaskin and Hoover Gaskin; six
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Mack Brown,
Jr., Frank Southhall, Jimmy Wyatt, Clinton Wyche, Albert
Brown, Sr., Don White and Michael Temple.

Selena Gaskin Boone
Selena Gaskin, the daughter of Solomon
Gaskin and Annie Bell Davis Gaskin, was born in Markham,
Texas, Wednesday, July 31, 1929.
She united with Pilgrim Rest Missionary
Baptist Church at an early age, and became the pianist.
She attended public school in Markham
community and in El Campo, Texas. In 1946, she attended and
graduated from Franklin Beauty School.
Selena Gaskin was united in Holy
Matrimony to Willie “J” Boone for 52 years. To this union
were born three children who loved them and provided them
the tender love and care honorable to parents. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Willie Boone, on August
19, 2000.
The Boone Family moved to Houston in
1959. There she united with First John Baptist Church under
the leadership of now the late Rev. H. West. She maintained
her membership and Christian experience under the pastorship
of Rev. Arthur Davidson.
Selena was a loving wife, mother and
grandmother. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten
by all who knew her. Even in her demise, she continues to be
a guiding force and inspiration to those whose lives she
touched.
Her transition from this life came
Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Missouri City, Texas.
She leaves loving memories to a devoted
daughter, Leona Boone of Missouri City; two loving sons,
James Boone of Houston and Sylvester Boone (& Bobbie) of
Markham. Also one step-sister, Ernestine Outley and two
step-brothers, Rev. Sam Laddie and Lionel Laddie; three
sisters-in-law, Cleora Boone, Hercelia Martin and Otha
Temple; two aunts, Lewella Wyatt and Althea Gaskin; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends. Which includes 6
grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who loved her
dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Selena Gaskin Boone
of Houston, one daughter, Leona Boone of Missouri City; and
two sons James Boone of Houston and Sylvester Boone of
Markham; one sister-in-law Cleora Boone and a god-sister
Eddie Lou Griggs both of Bay City; three aunts Alie Jones
(and George) of Markham; Sylvia McDonald and Mary Sayles
both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one uncle, Rev. M. L. Boone
of Palacios; also six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren,
two nieces, three nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Active pallbearers will include Clinton Wyche, Larry Lucas,
Bennie Boone, Wesley Johnson, Clemith Brown, Larry Walker
and Bobby Carter.

Willie J. Boone
On Friday, November 2, 1928, a son was
born to McKinley and Elnora Brown Boone, in Markham, Texas,
whom they named Willie J. Boone.
“J” as he was affectionately called, grew
up in the community of his birth along with his family and
friends and attended public school.
In 1949, he was united in Holy Matrimony
to Miss Selena Gaskin. This couple was blessed with three
lovely children.
Throughout his life, he was deeply
motivated with rodeos and horses, and participated
throughout the county.
His transition from this life to life
eternal came Saturday, August 19, 2000 at Memorial Southwest
Hospital in Houston, Texas.
His loving and devoted memories will
always remain in the hearts of his wife of 51 years, Selena
Gaskin Boone of Houston, one daughter, Leona Boone of
Missouri City, two sons, James Boone of Houston and
Sylvester Boone of Markham, his God-sister, Eddie Lou Griggs
of Bay City, one sister-in-law, Cleora Boone of Bay City,
three aunts, Allie (George) Jones of Markham, Sylvia
McDonald and Mary Sayles of Los Angeles, California, one
uncle, Rev. M. L. Boone of Palacios, six grandchildren: Tam,
Tiffany, Aaron, Valerie, Roderick and Natasha, five great-grands:
Traevion, Michael, Jordan, Kevin and Ashley, two nieces,
three nephews and a host of other relatives and many
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
McKinley and Elnora Brown Boone, and one brother, Irvin
Boone.

Sylvester Boone

Funeral services for Sylvester Boone, 54, of Markham, will be held
at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Mother Zion Baptist Church,
Bay City with the Rev. Murray Martin, pastor, and the Rev. James
Ashton, Jr., eulogist. Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery.
Visitation and guest book register will be from 2 until 8 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home chapel. He was born in El Campo, Texas,
August 31, 1957, to Willie Boone and Selena Gaskin Boone, and passed
away March 8, 2012, in Edna, Texas. Survivors include: two daughters
and one son, Tamika, Tiffany and Brian Boone; one sister, Leona
Boone; and one brother, James Boone all of Houston; and six
grandchildren. Also an enormous host of other relatives and friends.

Sylvester Boone
On August 31, 1957, a baby boy was born to Willie
James Boone and Selena Gaskin Boone in El Campo, Texas, whom they
named Sylvester Boone.
Sylvester accepted Christ at an early age. He was
a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. In 1959 they moved
to Houston where he attended J. J. Rhoads Elementary, Albert Thomas
Intermediate and Ross Shaw Sterling where he graduated. He married
his high school sweetheart, Patricia Smith. To this union were born
two daughters, Tamika Boone and Tiffany Boone. Then he later married
Bobbie Walker Boone and had a son, Brian Boone. He was employed by
the Houston Chronicle for 20 years. After retiring he worked at
Sunoco.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents,
Willie and Selena Boone; grandparents, Sam and Annie Bell Temple,
McKinley and Elnora Boone and Solomon Gaskin.
Sylvester leaves to cherish his precious
memories, his loving daughters, Tamika Boone Sterling (Daryl),
Tiffany Boone Williams (Michael) and a loving son, Brian Boone all
of Houston, Texas. He had one devoted sister, Leona Boone, and
brother, James Boone, of Missouri City, Texas. He was also a father
figure to Valeria Walker, Roderick Fisher, Ned Brooks and Noticka
Reddick. He also leaves behind his ten grandkids, two great aunts,
one niece, Natasha Smith (Gerrie), two nephews, Jasmine Roberts (Jamisha)
and Aaron Boone, two great nephews and a host of other family and
friends.

Verlee Boone
Funeral services for Verlee Boone, 66,
of Bay City will be held 1 p. m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest
Baptist Church in Markham with the Rev. Melvin Boone
officiating. Burial will be at Markham Cemetery. Visitation
will be this afternoon. There will be wake at Green’s
Mortuary chapel 7 to 9 p. m. The body will lie in state at
the church from noon to 1 p. m. Saturday.
Miss Boone was born Sept. 11, 1925 in
Markham to Levi and Tazzie Harrison Boone and she died Aug.
17, 1992 at Bay Villa Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Emily
Williams and Annie Boone of Markham and Martha Tilmon of
Galveston; three brothers, James Boone of LaMarque, Levi
Boone Jr. of Hempstead and Willie Boone of Bay City; two
aunts, Martha Johnson and Bertha Johnson of Bay City; two
uncles, John Harrison of Bay City and the Rev. Melvin Boone
of Palacios; a special niece, Gloria Carter of Markham; two
grandsons and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives
and friends.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Boone,
Bennie Boone, Ray Boone, Leroy Boone, Michael Boone and Tim
Abbott. Honrary pallbearers will be Samuel Brown Jr., James
Boone, Levi Boone, John Harrison, Cedo Sardinea, Lloyd
Carter, Ray Dillon, Willie Boone and the Rev. Melvin Boone.

Verlee Boone
On September 11, 1925, a baby girl was
born to Mr. and Mrs. Levi Boone, who they named Verlee. She
grew up in the Markham Community. At an early age, she
attended El Maton School and confessed Christ at an early
age.
To this union one son was born, Frank
Davis Boone, who preceded her in death in April 1, 1989. A
sister, Genera Boone, departed January 6, 1984 and Brother
Samuel Brown Sr. departed August 2, 1991.
Her earthly journey came quietly to an
end on Monday, August 17, 1992 at Bay Villa Nursing Home in
Bay City.
Her memories will always remain in the
hearts of three sisters, Annie Boone and Emily Williams of
Markham, and Martha Tilmon of Galveston, three brothers,
James Boone of La Marque, Levi Boone Jr. of Hempstead,
Willie Boone of Bay City, two aunts Martha Johnson, Bertha
Johnson and two uncles, Mr. John Harrison, Rev. Melvin
Boone, two grandsons, a very special niece, Mrs. Gloria
Carter, and eleven nephews and eight nieces.

Mr. Boone was born Aug.
11, 1920 in El Maton to Levi and Irene Harris Boone and he
died March 25, 1993 at Matagorda General Hospital.
He was a member of the
Baptist Church.
Survivors include a
devoted friend, Carrie Frierson of Bay City; four sons,
Willie Lee Jr. of Bay City, Herman of Palacios, Ronnie of
Victoria and Matt Earl of Inglewood, Calif.; three sisters,
Emily Mae Williams and Annie Mae Boone of Markham and Martha
Lee Tillman of Galveston; two brothers, Levi Boone Jr. of
Hempstead and James Lee Boone of Galveston; two aunts,
Martha B. Johnson of Bay City and Louella Boone of Palacios;
one uncle, the Rev. M. L. Boone of Palacios; 13
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; two sisters, Verlee and Geneva Boone;
and one brother, Sam Temple Sr.

Lottie Bowlegs, 72, of Markham will be held 2 p. m.
Wednesday in Mt. Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church in Markham

until 9 p. m. Tuesday at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay
City and from 1 to 2 p. m. Wednesday at the church in
Markham.
Mrs. Bowlegs was born
March 30, 1921 in Hallettsville to William and Rose Grandare
and died Aug. 6, 1993 at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in
Palacios.
Survivors include the
following: three daughters, Adell Young of Houston; Dorothy
Edwards of Markham and Elzara Woodberry of Bay City; six
sons, Alfred Blackmon of Sweeny; Willie and Gary Woodberry
of San Angelo; Joseph Johnson of Dallas; J. W. Jones of
Sacramento, Calif. and Henry Bankhead of Huntsville; two
sisters, Viola Robinson and Cecelia Taylor of Pecos.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, William and Rose Grandare, a son,
James Hall and her husband, Robert Bowlegs.

Lottie Grandare Bowlegs
On
March 30, 1921, a baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. William
Grandare in Hallettsville, Texas, whom they named, Lottie.
She grew up in the
community of her birth and attended Public School there.
She was also a member
of the church in this community. Later in life, when her
health became impaired she moved to Markham, Texas and she
was not able to attend service as before.
Sister Bowlegs' life
came to an end on Friday, August 6, 1993. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Robert Bowlegs, one son, James
Hall, her parents, William and Rose Grandare. She is
survived by three daughters, Adell Young of Houston, Dorothy
Edwards of Markham and Elzara Woodberry of Bay City, six
sons, Alfred Blackmon of Sweeny, Willie and Gary Woodberry
of San Angelo, Joseph L. Johnson of Dallas, J. W. Jones of
Sacramento, Ca. and Henry Bankhead of Huntsville, two
sisters, Viola Robinson and Cecelia Taylor of Pecos, 31
grands, 33 great-grands, 2 great-great-grands and other
relatives and friends.
Services were held
Wednesday, August 11, 1993, 2:00 p. m. at Mt. Zion
Pentecostal Holiness Church in Markham, Texas, with Minister
Eddie Fray officiating.

Clay Eugene Brazil
On July 10, 1938, a baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs.
Clay Brazil, Sr. in Danevang, Texas whom they named Clay Eugene.
He grew up in this Community and attended Public
School there. Clay was a very quiet person.
He departed this life on June 9, 1985.
He leaves many memories behind to be cherished by his
step-mother, Lucille Brazil of Glen Flora, his daughter, Bobbie Jean
Clark of Van Vleck, seven sisters, Lucille Amboree, Agnes Brown, Helen
Woods and Patricia Murdock of Houston, Eva Barnes and Myrtle George of
Markham, Hannah Brooks of Bay City, three brothers, Jesse Lee Flagg, Jr.
of Markham, Bobby and Billy Flagg of Bay City, four aunts and three
uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
