Wilbert Durgan Sr., 59, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed
on the otherside on May 26, 2006. Wilbert Durgan Sr. The sun rose in Bay City, Texas, on December 7, 1946, bringing with it a new life. Wilbert Lee Durgan, the youngest of four children, was born to A. J. Durgan and Emma Austin Durgan, and shared his upbringing with relatives and friends. Wilbert accepted the Lord and Savior at an early age, and was baptized at Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church, and kept the faith throughout life. He attended public school in the community of his birth, and was a graduate of the Hilliard High School, Class of 1966. Later in life he was united in marriage to Mary Dunbar. On Friday, May 26, 2006, at 9:30 p. m., the earthly steps of Wilbert Durgan, our beloved spouse, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend came to an end as he quietly slipped into the arms of Jesus with his family at his side. He was preceded in death by parents, a son, Wilbert Durgan, Jr., and two sisters, Catherine Bright and Dorothy Durgan. He leaves a legacy of love and family devotion in the hearts of his loving family; one daughter, Pamela Hylton (& Fitzroy) of Bay City, and four sons, Don Wilson of Houston, Selwyn Johnson of Fort Stewart, Georgia, Wilbur Durgan (& Bentisha) of Clute, Texas, and Robert Johnson (& Brenda) of Clute, Texas. Also one sister, Claretha Mills of Clear Lake, Texas, and mother-in-law, Eddie Steve Dunbar of Bay City, Texas. Also his loving grandchildren, Alaysha, Jalen, Treana, Tia, Kaleb, Kaden, Kaijah, Tanzania, Destiny, Joe Von, Dontaye, Jahquaiy, and Dontrece; and four stepbrothers, Carlton Durgan of Palacios, Leroy, Charles and Melvin Johnson, all of Bay City, and one stepsister, Juanita Townsend of Chicago, Ill. Freddie Eason Sr. On January 3rd, 1951, in Alvin, Texas a son was born to Ada and Freddie Eason Sr., whom they named Freddie “Hollywood/Butch” Lee Eason Jr. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at Bailey’s Chapel Baptist Church where he remained a member for many years and served under the leadership of Rev. R.L. Smith, Rev. D. Wyatt and Rev. A. Brown. Freddie went to school in Angleton, where he attended Marshall High before integration and graduated from Angleton High School in 1969. He furthered his education at Prairie View A&M University where he played defensive tackle for the football team and majored in Business. This new-found knowledge sparked the entrepreneurial spirit within him and led to him starting his own successful business, Freddie’s Lawn Service. On October 16th, 1983, Freddie married his college schoolmate, Wanda Estelle, and began raising their child Brandon. He was a dedicated servant of God. Freddie sang in the choir, was an involved deacon, and benevolence treasurer. Before Sunday church service he was often found driving around the block rounding up kids to go to church. He later united with Burrell Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. N. Ross. As Butch’s relationship with Christ grew, Canton Spirituals and Mighty Clouds of Joy replaced Earth, Wind, & Fire and Curtis Mayfield in the tape deck but were occasionally listened to, to reminisce. “Sending Up My Timber” was song that he led. In addition to music, Hollywood loved to spend time with his family and his friends under “The Tree”. He enjoyed watching “48 hours”, “Rush Hour”, “Sanford and Son”, Tyler Perry plays, westerns, football, and basketball. He found joy in playing dominoes, cards, Super Mario Brothers, and solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Freddie loved to have a good time and also understood the importance of community. He always kept a full candy bowl for the neighborhood kids. Along with his wife, he started a tutoring program for children in their neighborhood. He was also a member of a brotherhood which allowed him to raise money for college scholarships and give back even more to the community. Freddie joins his wife who reached heaven’s gates February 17th, 2010. His legacy on earth lives on through his honored son, Brandon Jermaine, loyal and loving sister Joyce Walton, grateful mother-in-law Hallie Estelle of Waco, Texas, thankful aunt Georgia Mae Granville of Bailey’s Prairie, Texas . Estelle Eason Wanda L. Eason, 56, of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 17,2010 in Houston, Texas. Wanda was born on October 4,1953 to Thomas and Hallie Estelle in Riesel, Texas. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Sunset Missionary Baptist Church in Riesel, Texas. Wanda graduated from Marlin High School in 1971. She continued her education at Prairie View A. M. University where she earned her degree in Sociology and Special Education. Wanda also obtained a special certification at University of Houston working specifically with multi-handicapped children. Survivors include her husband, Freddie Eason Jr.; son, Brandon; mother, Hallie Estelle; two brothers, Travis Estelle; Donnie Estelle; two sisters, Sharon Walker and husband, Maurice; Connie Mack and husband, Rev. Funeral services for Bobbie Ann Eaton, 74, of Bay
City, were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Enterprise
Baptist Church, Bay City,with the Rev. J. Weldon Gilbert, eulogist.
Burial followed at Markham Cemetery.
Bobbie Ann Morgan Eaton On May 13, 1931, Clara May Morgan was born to Mr. Hamp and Mrs. Vella Morgan, the baby girl of 10 children in Markham, Texas. She later changed her name officially to Bobbie Ann. Sis. Eaton’s early education was spent in Markham Elementary and St. Peters Catholic School in San Antonio, Texas. She was in the first graduating class of the new A. G. Hilliard High School in 1949, where she was the salutatorian. Professing her love for Christ at an early age, she was baptized by Rev. E. J. Thompson at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Markham, Texas. Sis. Eaton later joined Enterprise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. H. Pointer and remained a devoted and faithful member under Dr. J. Weldon Gilbert until her demise. She was one of a few members who were honored for 50 years or more of service. Also, Sis. Eaton was the most loyal, faithful, and trusted member of the Senior Saints; and was honored as the Senior Saint Sweetheart for 2006. Sis. Eaton was a licensed certified nurse assistant at Bay Villa Nursing Home when it first opened. Throughout her years of nursing, she had numerous private duty jobs where she bonded with the patients as well as their families. Sis. Bobbie Eaton’s transition came to a new beginning on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 in Houston, Texas, surrounded by her loving family at Houston Hospice. Being comforted in scripture from Psalms 122:1, “I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the house of the Lord.” She was well loved by her family, friends and Christian family being affectionately known as “Ma’Dear” and “Aunt Bobbie.” Preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Eaton, Sr. of 29 years; her parents, Vella & Hamp Morgan, Sr.; her son, Eddie Jr.; along with 4 brothers: Clemon Patterson, Hamp Morgan, Jr., Cleronia Morgan, Sr. and Gene Moore. Sis. Eaton was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, six daughters, Delorian Morgan-Jones and Martha Morgan of Houston, Texas, Brenda Morgan (July Franklin), Debra Eaton, Linda Eaton and Shawn Eaton (Claudis Grovey) all of Bay City, Texas and four sons, Kenneth Eaton (Felecia) of Houston, Texas, Darryl Eaton (Angulette) of Beaumont, Texas, Leonard Eaton, Sr. (Felecia), and Boyd Eaton (Lawanna Lewis) of Bay City, Texas; also two sisters, Mary Lee Roberts of Houston, Texas and Eddie Steve Dunbar of Bay City, Texas and three brothers, Gifford Morgan and Charles Courtney of Houston, Texas, and Eugene Moore (Susie) of Wharton, Texas. Also, two sisters-in-law: Mary Patterson of Houston, Texas and Everlina Kuykendal and one brother-in-law Richard Eaton of Bay City, Texas; thirty grand children, twenty-eight great-grand, and one great-great grand, and four god-children; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her extended family at Enterprise Baptist Church.
