Norman Coulter Sr.

Funeral services for Norman Coulter, 80, of Bay City, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Free Zion Church in Blessing, Texas, with the Rev. Ben Hadden officiating. Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church.

Burial will be in Markham Cemetery, immediately after services.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Green’s Mortuary, Bay City, Texas. 979-245-3489.

Norman Coulter, Sr.


Norman Coulter was born March 23, 1935, to Andrew Jackson Coulter Sr. and Hazel Jean McCloskey in Inola, Oklahoma. He was the second born out of eleven children. He was affectionately called “Nemo” by his siblings. He was a loving and compassionate man with a sense of humor that will continue with his memories. He grew up in a church in his hometown and continued to attend church wherever there was an opened door. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Pledger, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Russell Pointer. Norman had a loving heart, he would help anyone who needed it. He was a laborer at Nan Ya Plastics in Wharton, Texas by trade.

He was married to Mamie Reddic; to this union four children were born. He wanted nothing but the best for them and would often share little tidbits of wisdom with them. Later in life he married Amy Singletary from Van Vleck. To this union he welcomed Travis, Freddy Jr., Theresa and Paula into his life and treated them like they were his. Norman passed away in his sleep on September 12, 2015.

He is survived by three children: David Reddic of San Antonio, Aletha Fay Coulter of Blessing, and Ramona Fort (Roosevelt) of Houston; five grandchildren that he adored: Deidre Coulter (Jasun), Maquita Nelson (Joe), Quinton Fort, Damian Taylor and Kiara Fort; three great grandchildren that he loved dearly: Dinae, Keely and Joe-Joe; a loving friend Earline Roudreaux of Pledger, Texas; three brothers, Andrew Coulter of Bay City, Texas; David Holt (Gina) of Parson, Kansas and Clifford Holt (Ruthie) of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Frankie Scott (Henry) of San Francisco, CA and Carolyn Coulter of Los Angeles, CA; and a host of relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson Coulter Sr.; and Hazel Jean Coulter-Holt; wife, Mamie Coulter; son, Norman Jr.; two brothers, Wayne Woffard and Leon Coulter; two sisters, Bertha Coulter and Gwendolyn Holt.

Willie Charles Courtney
Oct. 6, 1933 – June 13, 2009

Funeral services for Willie Charles Courtney, 75, of Houston, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Markham, with the Rev. James Ashton, eulogist. Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

He was born in Markham, Texas, October 6, 1933, to Veela Harrison and Charles Courtney, and passed away June 13, 2009, in Houston.

Survivors include: three children, Jon, Stephanie and Denise, all of Houston.

Also two sisters, Mary Lee Roberts of Houston and Eddie Steve Dunbar of Bay City; and two brothers, Gifford Morgan of Houston and Eugene Moore of Wharton; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A. D. Davis

A. D. Davis was born on August 2, 1924. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Mrs. Rose Ann Bree and Father, Mr. Judge Davis.

He departed this life on January 17, 1981 at his residence.

Survivors are: one aunt, Mrs. Annie Bell Temple and one brother, Mr. Frank Davis of Markham, two great-aunts, Mrs. Dora Bivens and Mrs. Nancy Holmes of Brazoria and a host of relatives and friends.
