Ruby Jewel Williams

April 18, 1929 - January 15, 2022

Ruby Jewel (Wyche) Williams passed from this life into eternity with her Savior, Jesus, on January 15, 2022. She was born April 18, 1929, in Live Oak, Texas, to Abel and Elease (Brown) Wyche.

Jewel graduated from Hilliard High School. During her stay at home, she spent her time helping to raise her siblings, Harriet, Evelyn, Billy, Will, Johnnie, Wesley, and Gladys. God said, Jewel, job well done with your siblings and continued love shared in the lives of your sister, Amy Mae Moore, and brother Elbert Wyche, Jr.

She met and married Frank Williams, and to this union was born two children, Frank Clifton and Patricia Anita. However, just two wasn’t good enough for Jewel. She took on the role of mother to five more, Johnnie Mae, Bobby Ray, Donald Ray, Debra Gail, and Demetrius Lee (Little Joe). Jewel always had the heart to help anyone in any aspect of their life.

She had no problem letting you know what and how she thought about what was going on; it was always done out of love, even if there were a few choice words to get her point across. It is said, you reap what you sow, and all the love she showed traveling through life returned unto her until she passed. That’s why she was loved and appreciated by many.

Raised in a Christian home, Jewel accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior before starting elementary school, later joining Vine Grove Christian Church in Live Oak, Texas, serving 20+ years. She became a member of First Scared Memorial Christian Church and served many years under the leadership of Reverend Curtis Cooper.

The family moved to Houston in 1967. Shortly after that, Jewel joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Marvia Vernon Fletcher. She was an active member in the choir and women’s mission and diligently in any area when called upon until her return to Bay City. While in Houston, Jewel became employed at National Linen and retired 32 years later. She was a caregiver of children to adults alike. Jewel was also a hairdresser to many in the neighborhood. She was a jokester and enjoyed word find and number puzzles. Jewel demonstrated God’s unconditional love to all she met.

Ruby Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Frank; siblings Elbert, Harriet, Evelyn, Dolph Price, and Gladys; and adopted children, Johnnie Mae, and Bobby Ray.

Ruby Jewel, known as MaDear, sowed into her subsequent generations, bequeathing agape love to her 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

In her journey homeward, Ruby Jewel leaves daughters Patricia Anita, Debra Gail, daughter-in law Jenell, and son Donald Ray (Carlos Marie), granddaughters, Marilyn Evette, Samantha, Nidechi, DeAlice (deceased),Cunnicia, TaSheba, Evelyn DeShawn,Denicia, Rhonda Kaye, Demetra,LaToya, and SeKinaGail, and grandsons, Kelvin, Lynoid, Donald, and Carlos as well as a host of great-grandchildren, Browns, Moore's, Wyches, and extended family members and neighbors to cherish her memory.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 29, 2022, 10 a. m. – 12:45 p. m. at Shaun’s Mortuary. Followed by the service at 1:00 p. m.

Burial will follow at 2:00 p. m. at Live Oak Cemetery.
