Funeral services for Aslee Adkins Taylor, 84, of Bay City were held 1 pm Saturday at Mother Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery. A wake was held 7 to 9 pm Friday and visitation was held from noon to 1 pm Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Taylor was born Feb 28, 1908 to Will and Mary Low Adkins in Glen Flora.  She died May 24, 1992 at Matagorda General Hospital.

Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen J. and the Rev. Rozell H. Harman of Houston; Mary Lou and Dennis Brooks Sr. of Bay City and Linda Darnell Sanders of Corpus Christi; a son, Elton Ray Hawkins of Houston; two sisters, Effie Clark of Houston and Julia Adkins; four brothers, Abner Adkins of Galveston, Edward C. Lathan of Houston, Willie Adkins and Hiran Adkins; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and other relative and friends.  Her special niece is Clara Mae Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Active pallbearers will be Dennis Brooks Jr., Elton Troy Hawkins, Richard Christy, Dr. Willie James Hawkins, Reginal Adkins, Larnell Hawkins and Charles R. Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Brooks Sr., Abner Adkins, Claude L. Williams, Walter Jones, Elton Ray Hawkins, Edward C. Lathan, Welton Jones and the Rev. Rozell H. Harman.

Green’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
