Every effort was made to make an accurate transcription of the records, but there will be errors. The Clerk of the County Court often misspelled names and names in brackets [ ] are likely the correct spellings. As with all records, always check the primary document. The original records are in the Matagorda County Clerk's office and the Matagorda County Archives has a copy.
