Jim Tone, Jr.

Tone, Jim, age 70, a resident of Cedar Lake, Texas, passed away July 27, in Hermann Hospital, Houston. Services will be held Sunday, August 1, 2:00 p. m., at Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake. The Rev. Lloyd Brown will officiate. Tone is survived by daughters Mrs. Mary T. Hill, Mrs. Margaret McCluven, Mrs. Betsy Johnson, Mrs. William D. Johnson, Mrs. Marilyn Cook, Mrs. Nina Pyles, Mrs. Authurine Franklin, Mrs. Fannie Purdie, all of Houston and Mrs. Theola Street, Los Angeles, Calif. Also one son, Jim Marshall of Cedar Lake. Arrangements made by Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Jim Tone, Jr.

In the year of 1897, a baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tone, Sr. They named him Jim Tone, Jr. He was baptized at an early age under the pastorship of the late Rev. Willis Woodard. In his early manhood he married Miss Hattie E. Woodard. To this union was born nine daughters.

She preceded him in death in the year of 1934. Later he married Joanna Jones who also preceded him in death. He departed this life July 27, 1971, at 5:25 P. M. He leaves to mourn nine daughters, twenty-four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Don Johnson, Tyrone Pyles, Robert Johnson, Borris Carl Pyles, Darvis Ray Pyles and Winston Johnson.

Funeral services for Willie Townsend, 97, of Austin, formerly of Cedar Lake, will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake, Texas.

She passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Riverside Rehab and Nursing Center in Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Joel Williams, Sr. and Adlena Lydia Woodard; brothers, Curtis P. Williams, Sr. and Eddie “Ed” Powell; nephew, Jerald Copedge and niece, Marilyn Williams.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; nieces, Gwendolyn Raye Williams, Copedge, Macon, Georgia and Sandra Kaye Williams Johnson (L.J. Johnson), Arrington, Tennessee; nephews, Harry J. Williams, Sr., Austin, TX and Curtis P. Williams, Jr. and wife Valarie, Flint. Michigan; 6 grand nieces; 7 grand nephews; 6 great grand nieces; 13 great grand nephews; 3 great great grand nieces; cousin and close friend, Dorothy (Douchee) Law-Sias; a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be friends and family.

.Honorary pallbearers will be Harry J. Williams, Jr., Keith E. Williams, Sr., Joshua M. Ferguson-Williams, Keith E. Willams, Jr., Samuel Draper and Cornelius Parson II.

Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church. There will be no viewing afterwards.

November 5, 1954 – March 17, 2018

Funeral services for Edward Tyson, 63, of Cedar Lake will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church with Pastor Kenneth W. Bree, Sr., eulogist and Rev. Andrew Floyd, presiding. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake, Texas.

He passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, washing his vehicles, mowing and caring for his lawn, watching his favorites TV shows and listening to music and attending Sunday School at Bethlehem Christian Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, loving and devoted wife, Lucy LaVern Tyson; brothers, Walter Tyson, James Tyson and Joe H. Tyson; sister, Gloria Whetsone (Walter); devoted mother-in-law, Lydia Dailey; brothers-in-law, Kennedy Dailey, Franklin Dailey, John Dailey, Sr., Martin Dailey, Phelp Brown and Alan Dailey (Quetondra); special sisters-in-law, Robbie Horton (Henry) and Pastor Latoya Dailey and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

CEDAR LAKE - Eddie Urps, of Cedar Lake, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003.

He was born in Matagorda County to the late Eddie Sr. and Corrine Urps. He was a school bus driver.

Survivors: daughters, Monica Payne, Lynna Urps, Shaunna Dilworth, Bernadyne Urps and Faye Bryant, all of Houston; sons, Roy Urps, Ray Wright, Wayne Bryant and Eddie Roy Thompson; sisters, Ella Mae Hawkins, Mattie Bess and Willie Moore; brothers, Lester Urps and A.J. Urps; and 13 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents.

Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. today at Green's Mortuary chapel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Christian Church, the Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating.

W. C. Washington

Funeral services for W. C. Washington, 91, of Cedar Lake, are scheduled for 1:30 p. m. Saturday at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lane with the Rev. Kenneth Wayne Bree officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. Friday at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Mr. Washington was born May 19, 1902, in Sargent to Johnnie and Nancy Austin Washington and died Feb. 16, 1994, in Sweeny Community Hospital in Sweeny.

Survivors include his wife, Crisella Washington of Cedar Lake; three sons, Jimmy Washington of Arcola and Charles Washington and Jasper Washington, both of Cedar Lake; a god-daughter, Virginia Williams O’Neal of Cedar Lake; a god-son, the Rev. A. B. Jones of Arcola and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives.

Active pallbearers are the Rev. A. B. Jones, Dexter V. Williams, Gregory O’Neal, Frank Petteway, Jerry Higgins Jr. and Albert Smith Jr.

Albert Williams

BAY CITY - Albert Williams, 55, of Bay City, died Friday, July 2, 1999. 

He was born Aug. 14, 1943, in Sargent, to Willie Lou Moore of Bay City and the late Abarman Williams. He was a Security Guard. 

Survivors: wife, Audrey Williams; daughters, Betty Jean Settlers of Houston and Bernadean Settlers of Galveston; son, Albert Williams Jr, of Houston; sisters, Ester Williams and Mary Williams, both of Bay City and Louvenia Brasford of Houston; brothers, Thurman Williams and Everett Williams, both of Bay City and Levie Williams of Texas City. 

Visitation will be held from noon to 8:30 p.m. today at Green's Mortuary. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Enterprise Baptist Church, with Bishop Freddy Austin officiating.

Alice Williams

Funeral services for Alice Williams, 60, of Houston, will be Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Otis Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake [Matagorda County, Texas].

She died January 15, 2003 at her residence.

She was a member of Brookhaven Baptist Church in Houston.

She is survived by her husband, Kary Williams of Houston; three stepsons, Kary Williams, Jr. (Judy) of Ohio, Gary Lyn Williams and Willie Cory Williams; three stepdaughters, Renona Williams, Margaret Williams and Bridget Williams, all of Houston; three brothers, Richard Jones (JoAnne), Calvin Jones and Donald Ray Jones, all of Houston; three sisters, Margie Turner, Grayson Jones of Houston and Grace Hollis of Galveston; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Allen Williams

CEDAR LAKE - Allen Williams, 64, of Cedar Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 in Houston.

He was born Feb. 11, 1942, in Oriental, N.C.

Survivors: daughters, Denise Williams, Faith Pearson, and Sharon Gibbs.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Augustus Williams, Sr.

Augustus Williams, Sr., 65, of Houston, will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday, Jan. 15 at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. K. W. Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation and memorial services will be from 6 -9 p. m. Friday, Jan. 14 at University Christian Church in Houston with the Rev. Byron Singleton officiating.

He passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 in Houston. He was born in Cedar Lake on Friday, Aug. 24, 1934 to Joel Williams, Sr. and Clarinda Gee Williams.

He attended Cedar Lake Elementary School and graduated from O. H. Herman High School in Van Vleck in 1953. He received his bachelor of science degree in history in 1956 at Prairie View A & M University. In 1957, he was inducted into the U. S. Army through the ROTC Program at Prairie View A & M as a first lieutenant and received the rank as captain before his discharge in 1958. He remained on the active reserve status until 1962.

He returned to Houston and attended Texas Southern University and earned his master’s degree in counseling. His teaching career in Houston ISD began in 1960. The schools he was affiliated with were: Kashmere High School, Hartman Middle School, Woodson Middle School, where he served as counselor for the last 27 years.

Augustus was a deacon and served on numerous committees and at the University Christian Church in Houston until his death.

Survivors include: two sons, Augustus Williams, Jr. and Christopher Williams of Houston; wife, Karen of Missouri City; three grandchildren, Brandon Williams of Houston, Krizia Williams of Dallas and Tiera Williams of Cedar Lake; four sisters, Girtha Woodard and husband Horace of Cedar Lake, Tena Simien and husband, Hilbert of Sweeny, Faye Woodard and Wilhelm Moye; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.
