Maj. James Kerr, one of the first settlers of Texas, died at his residence in Jackson county on the 25th ult., aged 60 years and 3 months.

Edna, Texas, July 14.--Died at his home in El Paso Tuesday, July 13, Mr. Thomas Kerr. His remains arrived here at 2:30 this afternoon and were conveyed to their old family burying grounds for interment. Mr. Kerr was an honored and wealthy stockman of El Paso, Texas, where he was resided for a number of years. Formerly he lived in Jackson county, near this place, where he had a host of friends and relatives.
