Mr. Cummins had been an invalid for about five years. The cause of death was tuberculosis. When Mr. Cummins' health declined, he visited Colorado. The desired end was not attained. He returned home and went to Western Texas. For a short period, there seemed to be a change for the better, but the hope was only transitory. Several months ago, Mr. Cummins returned to Denison with his ever-faithful mother. His remarkable vitality and courage kept him alive when most people would have died long ago. This was a pretty world, and he hated to leave it.
His business career in Denison is well known. He was for a long time associated with A. P. Wood in the real estate and abstract business. No one has ever stood higher in business circles than Alex. Cummins.
He was born in Grayson County. Besides his mother, the deceased leaves two brothers and four sisters, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. The brothers are H. H. Cummins, of this city, and Walter Cummins, of Pottsboro; his sisters, Mrs. W. S. Buster, of Whitesboro; Mrs. Harry Robertson, of Amarillo; Misses Ethel and Newell Cummins of Denison.
The funeral took place last Sunday and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. Crittenton, of the Episcopal church. At the church the Woodmen of the World officiated.
