Walton Elementary School Day Street at Perry Denison, Texas ca 1965 The
original Walton School, possibly built in 1917, was at 109 E.
Washington Street. It is listed at that address in the 1921
Denison City Directory. The Denison Herald Sunday Morning, June 25, 1972 Walton School, named for the first principal of Langston, was Denison's third Negro public school. Located at W. Day and Perry, its six grades were reduced to four when Terrell was built. Mrs. G.A. Gormany was the first principal. The school, sold after integration, is now a private day nursery. Editor's Note: Still standing at the corner of Day Street
and Perry Avenue, the building ceased to house Walton School when the DISD closed
it in the mid-1960s and integrated the school system.
