Whitesboro
School is located in the town of Whitesboro. The district covers
a wide area and is a high school having consolidated several common
schools. Whitesboro's first school was opened on Quinlin Street which was the main road leading north. In 1876, John Maddox gave land for the Shiloh Baptist Institute which was dedicated to the teaching of Liberal Arts. Professor Berryman was the president and, also, taught Greek. The school offered two years of college work. There was both a preparatory and a college department. Shiloh Baptist Institute remained in operation for a short time. Euler B. Smith and James M. Carlisle taught a private school in the "Old log school house". They secured the Shiloh Institute building and started the Whitesboro Normal School. Professor Hobbs had a private school at the corner of Collinsville and Water Streets. The Whitesboro Normal School suspended operation in 1888. For one year the Shiloh building was used as a public school. In 1889, a two-story brick building was built on the coroner of Main and College to house the public schools. In 1894, the Shiloh Institute buildings was used again by C. L. and Noah Adair for the Adair Normal School for two years. Some of the common schools that consolidated with Whitesboro are:
