Sophia Porter & George Butts
An Illustrated History of Grayson County, Texas by Graham Landrum,c1960, pg 6

In a document dated February 8, 1848, an eight-year-old Negro boy named HARRY was transferred from Hiram Coffee
to G. N. Butts.

"George N. Butt (Butts) had come from Norfolk, Virgina and was given the frontier rank of "Major". He and Sophia were very busy about the development of their plantation, and the records that relate to him mostly concern the purchase of slaves. Among the slaves owned at one time or another by George Butt and Sophia were: LEWIS, MARY, ANN, HARRY, ROSE, PATS, SARAH, ALBERT, HESTER AND HERCULES."
