all men by these presents, that I, James
Savage, of the State and
County aforesaid, for and in consideration
of the sum of $700 to me in
hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby
acknowledged, have this day
sold and bargained, and by these presents
do sell and bargain unto
William Creager, of said State and County,
my Negro woman named Rachel,
aged about nineteen years, and her infant
child named Harry,
about six
months old and I, the said James Savage,
do bind myself, my heirs,
executors, and administrators, to warrant
the said Negroes Rachel and
Harry, to be sound in body and mind, and
slaves for life; and I do
further agree and bind myself, my heirs,
executors and administrators,
to warrant and forever defend the title to
the said Negroes unto the
