born 1812 in Tennessee moved his family to Texas ahead of the outbreak
of the Civil War. In the wagon train leaving Cleveland, Bradley
County, Tennessee on September 25, 1860 were William and Margaret Cowan
Camp, their children James (Jim) Camp...John Lee Camp...Joe Camp and
Margaret Camp...and Aunt Ruth, a negro slave, and her three children After a very eventful trip they laanded in the Cherry Mound community...They got here on Nov ember 25, 11860. They ssoon bough a strip of land on the west side of Choctaw Creek to Iron Ore Creek....Margaret Camp was the only girl. Her mother had a stroke when she was 6 weeks old, the reason for the family buying the only slave they ever owned....
