W.P.B. Rogers Dies Suddenly Last Thursday

W. P. B. Rogers, 75 years old last March 1, died suddenly at his home in the southwest part of town Thursday afternoon at about 2 o'clock from the effects of a heart attack.  He had been in failing health for years, but was able to be up and around his home on the day of his death.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. B. Chambers of Princeton, a former pastor of the Trenton Methodist church,
at the church here Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Burial was made at Cross Roads cemetery.  The Masons had charge of
the services at the grave.  Funeral Director Glen Earnheart was in charge of the arrangements.
William Paxton Barkley Rogers was born March 1, 1858, in Blount County, Tennessee.  At the age of ten years he moved with his parents to Georgia, living in that state three years, and then the family moved to Arkansas.  He and Miss Martha Turner were married in Arkansas Feb. 6m 1887.  They came to Collin County in 1890, locating east of Blue Ridge.  Seventeen years ago the family moved to Trenton.
Mr. Rogers was an energetic farmer and a prosperous one.  He was a good man and stood for everything that would tend
to make the community a better place in which to live.  He had been a member of the Methodist church for 62 years.  He also was a member of the local Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are one son, Idus Rogers of Leonard; four daughters, Mrs. Ada McCormick, near Trenton, Mrs. Phebe Moffitt, Trenton, Mrs. Lottie Roller, Fort Smith, Ark., and Mrs. Noba Hughes of the Ely community, three brothers, S. T. Rogers of Bonham, John Rogers, Hutchinson, Kansas, Joab Rogers, Waterloo, Ark. one sister, Mrs. Nettie Wood, Electra, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

Mrs. Martha Rogers Passes Away Dec. 27

Mrs. Martha T. Rogers, 86, of Trenton, died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ada McCormick, of Westminster.
Mrs. Rogers  was born in Cumby March 27, 1863, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Turner.  She married W. P. B. Rogers in Atalula, Ark., in 1887, and came to Texas in 1890, when they settled in Collin County.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. McCormick, Mrs. Sewell Moffitt of Trenton, Mrs. Lottie Rollen of Fort Smith, Ark.,
and Mrs. John Hughes of Whitewright; one son, W. Rogers of Leonard; four brothers, two sisters; fifteen grandchildren
and twenty great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 28, at Trenton Methodist church, Rev. E. ?. Jackson officiating, with Glen Earnheart in charge of arrangements.  Burial was at Cross Roads Cemetery.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Methodist church.
