Thursday, May 28, 1970 pg.4 Services for David T. Phillips, 88, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. He was a retired shoe repairman and former mayor of Trenton. He died Thursday at 8:05 p.m. in a Whitewright nursing home. Mr. Phillips was born December 9, 1881 in Farmington, Missouri, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Phillips. He married Jennie Miller July 15, 1902 in Desert. He was a member of the Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for a number of years. Rev. Milton Kirchmeier officiated with burial in Cross Roads Cemetery under the direction of Earnheart Funeral Home. Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. R.D. Butler, Trenton; Alton McDowell, Whitewright; Mrs. Faye Haskins, Houston; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Richardson, Ninnekah, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Norman Butler, E.D. Reagan, C.W. Rhudy, Lynwood Coleman, Joe Majors, Millard Head, Lee Norman, and Bill Dockery.
